yes it was a nd voltage issue they fixed it in bios but now my taiwan board is set 1.6v in bios gives me 1.55 n before was 1.59:(
Yeah i used those clips + hair dryer to get another set of ballistix tracer's heatspreaders to make contact with the ICs and it worked!
clips you just slip off, i worked on one side of heatspreader at a time, heating the heatspreader up and then using a plastic credit card like cut out and my finger nails (mainly thumb) and started on the edges slowly lifting heatspreader and you can see the thermal pad slightly lift off if you're lucky, use plastic credit card like cut out to cut into the thermal pad further in, then re-heat and do it again until thermal pad on each ic becomes more loose.. re-heat as needed.
You'll get to a point where the whole one side heatspreader is pretty loose, then bit more prying pressure will get it off.. NEVER force it and take your time. Then do same for other side.
I had a board from both and they both died within 2 weeks. So for me it didn't matter where they came from ;)
I'm back on a spare P965-S I had stashed in the closet from when I was trying to determine whether low batch numbers overclocked better than later ones. Unfortunately this board is not the better of the 2 I had (the first one ended up in DFI RMA nightmare hell), but the overclock with my Q6600 is the same on this board as what I could get out of the X38. So outside of my Crossfire being slower on this board, everything else is the same.
I know my quad can go higher, but neither the P965-S (not surprising) nor the LT X38 (very surprising and disappointing) can take it there. Eagerly waiting for the Rampage.
some ballistix early on had D9GKX
From the 'DDR2 RAM List' they can have GMH, GCT and GKX. Haven't seen the D9GCT's on the Ballistix 8500 before
thanks for that list!
Yeah it can be useful, but don't rely on it too heavily... that list is ancient really and rather outdated in most cases (small wonder considering all those different manufacturers, models and ICs out there)
everything on auto +more aggressive
nb 1.6v vdim 2.13v gtl values enabled 68-69%
i only run 2 stix now since i dont need 4 gigs and it puts stress on the board
but the board ran 4 gigs like it was nothing
i couldnt do 800mhz on x38-dq6
with 2 stix i'm @ 2.09v for 1200mhz 24/7
I'm getting my board end of this february. pairing with q6600 and reaperx.
What Air cooler will fit on the motherboard? Will I be able to install the northbridge cooler with Thermalright ultra 120 ex?
LOL..."blowing up", like boom!:D
yeah saw lot's of setup like the way u mention.
Will it effect the case flow? I'm using Lian Li PC-007.
Thinking either getting the 90i or True blowing up. Need to consider the other components as well, the PWM and also the reaperx ram.
get the true n dont look back the 90i not as good for a quad
you can always dremel the nb sink if you want it facing back
i got a laptop heatpipe heatsink commin for the pwm:D
then i gonna get an hr-05 sli for nb
i prefer it facing back for airflow but most saying they get better temps with it facing up
I have Scythe Infinity and it performs also very well blowing to the back

nope. it can be down blowing to the side, towards the exhaust. i did it too. its a matter of 1/50 inch...but it works!
thermalright 120 ultra extreme. wait..i can make a photo.

User of DK P35-T2R also bend the fins of xigmatek 1283 to fit it blowing towards the exhaust.
Probably will get true then tried both setup, see which 1 gives the best overall performance. My country here hard to get HR-05, only can get SLI/IFX version.
Hello boy,
can you give me some helps in settings E8400 Q746A366 @445x9 with my Dfi X38? I've tried some settings options without finding stability in daily use. Only spi1m bench...
BTW a lot of times when I start some stressing utility like Orthos or Prime the monitor freezes for 2\3sec. and then the system restarts.
My sistems is in the signature
Hope someone of you will answer my question, i need seriously some support.
Sorry for my English, I'm writing from Italy
Bye!!
