And newegg has the 6700 Retail in again.
600USD isn't that bad of a price to be honest. Maybye 20-30dollars over what will probably be the end-price in a few weeks I'd guess.

Got my Retail 6600 today, still don't have: Motherboard, RAM and video. Batch L627A..., so I'm wondering if a later batch is a good thing or not.

It's taking a lot of self-restraint to wait until the RD600 boards come, I hope it's worth it. :)

Will not arrive till the 23rd. :( 2 day upgrade was 40$+, so I didnt get it...

40$ is what it costs me to ship from the USA to London, its just sad to see that kind of shipping price killing...

Have fun. I've been lapping my heatsinks and IHSs for years now and it's usually been good for a 1-3C load temp reduction with no increase in OC potential. I even removed the IHSs from my 1.6A and 1.8A and realized a substantial 3-4C reduction in load temps, but again there was no increase in OC potential.

I don't waste my time on it anymore.

i had preordered a e6700 from east luna like a month and half ago and they kept pushing the eta back every single week you reached the date and plenty of other retailers had it in stock for the same price or less so i cancled and ordered a oem 6700 from clubit hopefully it ships tommorw im tired of nothing to do

6600 should be in today, still waiting for chipset waterblock before I can build the watercooling system (though with the quick disconnects I got from mcmaster I might just build and at the chipset block to the loop later)

usually it says mirror finish is best... i mean look at zalman heatsinks... they are waaaaaaaaay mirror finish... probably factory milled for 2 hours

I don't think it matters near as much as having a flat surface and good contact. The purpose of the TIM is to fill in the gaps anyway. Remember if you have crappy contact you can easily be seeing 60,70,80+ degrees. The difference between different finishes isn't anywhere near those differences.

Hold a razor blade or anything machined to be flat over the IHS at different angles. If its not flat you should see a dip in the metal.

I went searching for that Cathar thread but I couldn't find it. A search on his UN and lapping or grit didn't give me any threads where I saw a grit suggestion.

Their page says that they did receive some 6600 and x6800s and that you'll be notified by 12:15 ET today(the 17th) if enough were received to fill your preorder.
