It would be good for at least 1 of 3 ( VW, FCG, F ) to get some overclock so fingers crossed, a lot of pople want to see how well these do at least on air so we can judge how Intel is going to roll them out and which to go for.

Is it possible to do a pifast test, Hexus flavour ? Traditionally pifast has liked the AMD over Intel so it would be nice to compare.

Also, not sure what you meant about the pcie slot but 2001 car low and lobby high, is that a possible?????

Looks like you might have corupted OS. I sujest a clean install. Did you just drop the cpu in into the sys that already had OS wiyh other Cpu? I remember Dothan killing my old OS, it had same effect as yours at idle my cpu load would show 20-30%

9x should not be the max multi with an ES chip (I hope). Also, I think the chips that FUGGER and I have may infact be 2.4Ghz chips also as the 2.13Ghz 4MB cache Conroe is not going to be a production chip (it will be the highest single core with 2MB cache).

Maybe we'll see 600fsb eventually.

Any idea how much the fsb on the new generation of intel mobos will go to? eg, on my DFI nF4, you can select upto 450 MHz, but doubt it'll go much over 400....

Hopefully atleast 450 MHz can be done stably :)

FSB needs to go to AT LEAST 333 for stock 1333Mhz XE Conroes. I think we will see in the 600Mhz range (maybe even more). Think 2.4Ghz FSB or higher. :)

450 will be a stretch - 350FSB seems to be the norm , 400mhz the max - 450+++ mhz only with vmods and cooling on current platforms

EDIT: but FCG is right - I assume the next gen mobos should make hopefully a big step forward in that departement

Great news keep the intel coming.

howabout if you think about it % wise rather that absolute mhz wise? Eg, most NF4 mobos will go around 280 Mhz = 40% increase over stock, and the best ones will do 350 MHz = 75% increase.

So theoretically, most will do ~370 FSB with the best ones doing maybe 450 MHz if you consider % increases.

No evidence, but just a thought that i had :)

Hopefully Victor, FUGGER or FCG will be able to confirm this once they try other mobos :)

That's nothing I posted before that I saw an intel slide (photos of it) of a Conroe doing a Super PI in 17.xx secs. I couldn't see which version of conroe it was. I assumed it must have been the XE model.

I don't know, that would require a 54% increase over 2.4GHz, maybe add 100-200MHz since it's MHz:pi times aren't linear, that would be >3.6GHz on air cooling

Maybe it's possible though, who knows :)
