i paid something like $220 for my expert when it first came out, if i didn't already have a $200+ board, or something that performs equally as well as this new one, i might purchase it. but imo, it seems like a waste of money if you have any of the current 939 boards from the past year or so. unless of course you have money to throw around cause you like to play with everything new that comes out (we all like to play with new stuff - but sometime our logical side take over and keeps us from hitting the checkout button ;) )

I wouldn't be bothering with another mobo myself if I wasn't going crossfire. I have enough decent ones about. I have the DFI ordered and incoming this week.

I'm trying to decide if I want to stick with 1gb sticks or try 4 512s that overclock higher. Most 1gb I have seen don't OC that well.

I'm about to order my WC parts but does anybody know which chipset block fits on this CFX3200 in case of a CrossFire X1900 setup?

Swiftech MCW30, DD M4 Expert or something else?

That ATI chipset only uses a few watts AFAIK so it shouldn't get too hot with just air cooling unless your going all silent.

Lucky you, mine top at 261 1:1. If I relax my Tras to 10 I can get a little more, like 265. Now my old 512mb Ballistix sticks are good for 306 @ 1:1. If anyone can point me to a 2gb kit that does 300 and up I'd greatly appreciate it.

Just pulled the trigger on:

MB DFI LANPARTY UT CFX3200-DR 939 - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$219.99)
MEM 1Gx2|GSK D500 F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$157.00)

I hope that's the right G.Skill "HZ" memory to have decent results.

I want something that's going to be able to really push my new Opty 165 CCBBE 0610DPMW that I got yesterday.

EDIT: Wow, paid for overnight shipping and I just got my shipment notify! I love/hate Newegg :)

Ok, I'm going to try to bring that down to my level of understanding (which amounts to copy/paste abilities). In my new CFX3200-DR BIOS (Tony's BIOS BTW) I see the following options and I think you said change them to:

RD580 HT PLL Speed: High Speed
HT Bus NMOS Drive Strength: 31
HT Bus PMOS Drive Strength: 31
HT Bus Receiver Impedance: 05 (default - no idea what to set to)
CPU HT Bus Drive Strength: Strong

When you said "we need to set CPU HT bus Drive Strength and RD580 HT Bus NMOS/PMOS to Strong and 31/31"

I understand the 31/31 because the HT NMOS and PMOS both have settings that go up to 31.

I understand the "CPU HT Bus Drive Strength to strong" because it has a setting that says "Strong".

I _guess_ that setting the RD580 HT PLL Speed to High Speed is the same as "and RD580 HT Bus (to strong)".

You also said some things about the Impedeance that seems to indicate you think it is obvious what someone with half a brain should set it to but could you spell it out for those of us with less than half a brain?

IOW:

Am I right about the above settings and what should I set the HT Bus Receiver Impedance to?

EDIT: I meant to say, here's my equipment:

CFX3200-DR
(2x1GB) G.Skill HZ
Opty 165 CCBBE 0610DPMW

I bought this and I dont even plan to use crossfire now or in the near future. Just because it is hypped to be an extremely powerful overclocking platform. That hype has some backing too, the ati chipset has shown that once it is properly comnfigured that it will do incredible things.

My DFI CFX3200-DR has arrived yesterday. Since then i had no problems with the board with the CPU/RAM settings @default/auto even with the bios that came with the board.

Tried few benchs, SuperPI, 3Dmark06 and Everst Ultimate Edition, but scores were really low. I find it normal because i didnt changed any ram settings.

I have 2x1GB Gskill 4000 HZ UCCC and i have then on the orange slots.

My question, What slots are recomended for the Gskill 4000 HZ?!.... On my DFI Expert had them running on the oranges, should it be the same with this board?!

But's what is just a couple of months behind Conroe, DDR3 or XDR maybe? Sometime's you just don't want to wait, atleast that's how I expericence it, in the begin I had the patience to wait, now not anymore.

And the motherboard should be very good...:)

The same Expert Orange slot.

Everyone update New Bios..................old bios has some problems for infineon chip.

I had that file mid-last week, is it newer/different than the one on the dfi site? all of the bios i've got for the rdx show 3/28 date so its a bit tough to tell.

Any one have some UTT BH-5 settings for this board, this is where I max out. Any higher and I get memtest errors out the wazu. My Trc sucks but thats where its stable.
