I must repeat.
Check the SHIM vs CORE height. My XT has the core just above SHIM height, but my brothers XT has the CORE just even.
If any of you have a core BELOW the SHIM height, it will cause issues with the Zalman or Accelero, as they are FLAT and dont have the nump-out that the stock cooler has over the core. So bad heatsink/core contact can result.
Always check with a straight edge to make sure, if the core is too low, you will have to pop the shim off to let the sink work 100%.
Ohh. That's weird!! Maybe the VF900-Cu's and the like would perform better than stock for a change. Hmm, nice find uwackme. I'll have to take a look at mine someday. :)Quote:

I'm from Holland so i want to be absolutely sure here that we're talking about the same thing :)
That shim, is the metal square around the core? The VF900 is constructed not to touch this shim at all, as far as i can see on my pictures of the cooler. I'd have to remove it again to make 100% sure that i am correct on this, but when you tighten the screws pressure is applied on the core only (?)
Holy crap just got an X2 and its absolutely amazing! i used RHTBL full screen 1650*1050 16 multisample to measure the temps, which will heat up my card MUCH MORE than any other program possibly can. Keep in mind I am using AS5 so I'll lose a few degrees overtime... Keep in mind I kept the stock fan at 50% at all times and the X2 fan at 100% and the stocvk was MUCH MUCH louder. Ambient was 24C during both test and the side of my case was open.

After looking at my horrible voltage reg and chipset laod temps with the X2 I decided to add a 120mm 40CFM quiet fan I had lying around to blow right into the chipset and voltage reg area
X2 Plus 120mm 40CFM fan LOAD
GPU - 71C :D
Voltage reg - 69C :stick: (still really high!)
Chipset - 46C :) (much better)
The fan gave me very pleasant improvements and its virtually inaudible so I guess I m not going anywhere without that fan. Overall extremely impressed with this cooler and would recommend to anyone. To the people who do not know how much rhtbl heats up video cards just for comparison I played oblviion for an hour adn my max gpu temp was at 65C witht he X2 plus fan combo.

I wonder if they can be modded to do that...Quote:

I will feel very angry, this guy still cheating other people that VF900Cu can cool the X1800XT to 55C in performance mode and 57C in slient mode.
And he is telling other people stock cooler is 77C and AcceleroX2 is 70C.
This kind of lying review is really mis-lead other customer and casue us waste $$:slapass:
that's actually correct. I can let my x1900xt idle at 30 and load at 58°C. That's just on stock clocks and a little less voltage than it's normally set at.Quote:

I little less voltage make a huge difference, and what kind of load are you talking about?Quote:

looking forward to having one of these on my 7900gt
I found a new VGA cooler round up from madshrimps and it is more detail and more cooler have been compared
http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=405
thanks for the linkage hkcadcam,
I compared the following:
- Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 (Rev. 3)
- Arctic Cooling Accelero X1
- Zalman VF900-Cu
- Zalman VF700-Cu
- Zalman Fatal1ty FS-V7
- Sytrin KuFormula VF1 Plus
on a 7800GT
a Thermalright V-1 Ultra arrived a bit too late to be included in the roundup, but I'm working on a followup article
I guess Thermalright V-1 Ultra will be the best in the cooling performance. It has 3 heat pipes and big Heat sink. The cons is the installation is quite difficult.Quote:

I'm accepting donations of 7900GTX/X1900XT, PM me if you want to donate one:p
I have the Accelero X2 along with a X1900XTX. I must say I love this cooler, it's perfectly inaudible at idle (in my current setup) and much quieter than stock on load (it works with ATI's dynamic fan controller which is a very nice feature). As for cooling, I don't really care. I experience no artifacting and no instability issues so that's fine and dandy with me. I did experience instability issues while overclocking though.
overclocking is never guaranteed, and the X1900XTX is the hotest GPU out there at the moment, keeping it running cool at stock speeds and remaining silent is already quite a challenge; if you want to overclock, you would be best of with water cooling, but that can be quite the hassle compared to simple HSF:)
Crank that fan up to 100% on the Accelero. There is virtually no audible difference and your temps will significantly improve.Quote:

Ever since switchign to the JingTing NF4 heatpipe cooler, I have no issues of the X2 raising chipset temps. The fins for the NF4 cooler are BEHIND the X1900 ;-)

After a few minutes to cool off, I turned around and sold it the next day for something like 1/2 the price I bought it for. The guy I sold it said it took him a little while to mount but he was very happy with it and got it to work just fine, so it's really a matter of taste, and how much trouble you are willing to go through to install a heatsink.
For me, I went back to air from water/pelt because I didn't like the hassle, and the vf900 has been the easiest install so far, and cooled better than my fs-v7, so that's all i care about. I'd actually be interested to try a accelero X1 in my case, but i already have an fs-v7 just sitting on my desk, and have eliminated pc spending from my budget
I believe the accelero's have 3 heatpipes also.
