@leejsmith,
I would not be caught dead benching or running everest with all that stuff running in the background. Your windows taskmanager reports 31 processes running.

I had the same dilemma with u but i've decided to go Presler.Quote:

So i'm going to change my 640 with a 920. :)
What about less Vcore ? as well as Higher O/CQuote:

I just ordered another Presler, LOL. You should be able to get 5GHz pretty easily with air like that. Good luck with it!
Here a good 920, did 4,5ghz @spi1m@1,5v( 1,42-1,45 under load :stick: ), with about 20c ambient temp and a big typhoon, will post pics when i get some free time... :)
When you post the pics say/show the temps because i'm thinking on getting a 920D too but i wanted to know what is his behaviour under a TT Big Typhoon.Quote:

sry for the long post
I'll have a 661 for sale probably, but not as cheap as a 631 :) Yonah+AOpen = REAL good stuff...still loving that 23s 1M SPi I saw on one @ 2.7GHz.Quote:

I was going to wait until EIST/LockFree was possibly reinstalled in them, but I ordered a 930 after a guy on another forum just received his and had it going @ 5GHz on cold air...just pushed me to do it. They're still all the same cores/revisions so it's just luck of the draw with binning I guess...I hope it's better than the first one I tried...
Anyone here using a 940 or 950 ?
I would like to know if they have "cpu lock free" feature available on either Asus or Gigabyte 975X mobos, before I commit to 661...
Lucky u! :)Quote:

PC, very nice chip! You need better mem for those SPi's though :)
No 65nm Intel has LockFree or even EIST right now, including the 661.Quote:

IluvIntel i have 940 , and u cant chang the multipler, there is no iest .
Thanks boostedevo, thats really annoying how they do that (Intel) and you say even the mobo vendors like Asus can't enable it with "cpu lock free" feature.Quote:

Yeah, it's cut out of the current chips from Intel, it's nothing as simple as what a BIOS update can fix. Q2 for EIST on any of these 65nm's and I have NOT heard whether that will even include LockFree at that time....we'll just have to wait and see.
This new 930 I got today is a 10000x better than the first one I got. I need to fix my droop, but I should be able to bench this thing at the same clocks as the 661(!) IF the single stage will handle it. I've got PLENTY of Vc left for 5.3GHz+, but I have to get rid of the droop on load or I'll need to set it artificially high to make up for it (which I don't want to do).
It's an OEM, so no pack date. Malay proc and I got it from TigerDirect.

I am doing some EASY 4950MHz 3D benches tonight (set for 1.525Vc, 1.45-1.46V actual on load) and it's just crushing my 661 scores....stable as hell. My first 930 wouldn't bench 4.5GHz @ 1.50V and wouldn't go over 4.65GHz AT ALL without crashing inside of 30 seconds....this new one is just amazing by comparison...
That is absolutely bloody amazing mate ! You are most certainly one lucky user !! :DQuote:

Yeah, it's definitely luck. I was going to hold out and wait for EIST/LockFree before getting another Presler too, but another guy ordered a retail 930 from Tiger and was doing 5GHz on air (Scythe, REAL cold amb tho), so that "forced" me to risk it ;) Either lightning struck twice or they are getting towards their stock with better binnings :)
