I Heard that the R580 would be a RV530 X 4. So it will have 16 robs with 3 shaders per Rob. What would give a total of 48 shaders. The RV530 has Only 4 pipes. And 4 texture units. I think thats one of the factor that its so slow. Because 4 texture shaders is not much if u have to race against 6600 GT with 8 of a 6800 GT with 16. U see that the shader peformance is of hat card is verry good.

So if this all is true the R580 will be quite fast :)

wooooaahhhhhhh there. Thats quite a bit of speculation there. But while we're at it, I have some really valuable swampland down in Florida that you might be interested in....

Seriously though, it's a bit early in the game to be assuming anything at all about the R580.

Ok one more thing. ATi itselve said that the RV530 would look like the R580 in architecture. But we will see waht the future brings :)

But lets se some insane XI800 clocks + 3dmarks !!!! :D

I say who cares when 1GHz/2GHz is potentially reachable on the XT!! Also...with theoretical performance that does TIE the 16 pipe GTX at the same clocks (or beats it in some cases), I say wait for some better drivers.

i don't, i'm going for 2 *whateveristhelatestaticard* in crossfire as soon as my rig requires update, but i would like to see what grayskull has to say, since a PR response would be nothing more then useless... PR claims more efficient pipelines, what does tech have to say ?

Not to put words in his mouth, but I'd personally say that the core was designed to run at higher speeds with massive memory bandwidth and more than competes with a 24 pipe card when it is at those higher speeds and bandwidth. Efficiency shouldn't be an issue in the end--performance at the max should be.

The test is Bull :banana::banana::banana::banana:. Fit u run it again with a GTX @ 600 MHz and the ATi on 600 you would see other resulds. Because the R520 architecture will scale beter. But A GTX can't run 600 but if it could you would see other resulds.

At equal clocks and pipes, the GTX will always win. But the GTX wasn't designed to run at higher clocks with high bandwidth, unlike the R520, which was. The GTX truly is 'more efficient' than the R520 (like Dothan is more efficient than the A64) but what good is efficiency if one clocks to Hell and back while the other doesn't?

BTW, A GTX @ 625/1500 will outperform the XT by about 850-900 points in 3D05....not sure if you disable 8 pipes though :stick:

i know and that, but i wanted to see if i could get a more specific answer...

by the way, any idea how these things scale with new driver releases ??

What is the max you can set it to and will vmem support ever come around?

You rock W1zzard. I don't even have the card yet I am excited to see what others can get. I want to see if the XL can run above and beyond stock XT speeds artifact and stable free.

i did go as far as 1.4v .. didnt try more .. up to 1.8v educated guess

cant kill this card yet :rolleyes:

i take it you are running an XL? At 1.4v how high stable and artifact free did you get the card and what were the temps and what cooling? Thanks.

ah yes Nunyabiz, you were one of the first to find an XL locally. Give this a try and share your findings as I know you were limited to the CCC overclock.

I have the CCC and it has overclocking, just wont go above 575 on the core, how hard is it to change that limit?

LOL... Thats what its all about.... The ATI CAN and the GTX CANT. The GTX will be better at same clocks, but it clocks no near close to what ATI clocks...

When I read that, I just told myself... What the hell you think? >.<

Scour the ATi sections of the registry....something tells me those aren't magic numbers.
