well i was on tigardirect and found this exact card (leadtek 6800le) for $215 CDN witch is aswome cause that is cheaper then most 6600gts!!.
now stubid question but what one would be better to get.
leadtek $6800LE $215 or the bfg $295
(and of course i will be unlocking the pipes)
Unlocking & OCing success is luck with any brand.
That's a huge price difference. I'd go for the Leadtek, if nothing else for their
cooler design. BFG and their pre-OC is a marketing gimmick IMO.

what im gonna try to do is overclock, then enable the extra pipes and see if i can get something working
and i had to use the thermal pads on the DDR, but i got AS5 on the gpu, so that still has a while to set in.
EDIT: i overclocked the card, then enabled the pipes and it runs!!!! no artifacts!!!!

a lot better than what i got before, but still not what i expected. im thinking that the core is throttling, so im gunna drop the core to 400 and see what happens.
then im gunna reformat, and do everything over again.
not bad, at 50mhz less on the cpu and this new card, i get about 2000 3dmarks better than with my 5900 flashed to 5950.

You have two options;
(1) Use Winfox to overclock.
(2) This is the better way. In rivatuner, go to the Power User tab. Then, in the list below, select "Rivatuner RC 16.5/Nvidia/Overclocking" and open it. In "DisableInternalClockTest" make it a 1, and you should have no trouble OC'ing.
Disabling that test doesn't do anything for the default core clock issue.
Like you said don, if you cannot OC after the unlock procedure the pipes are bad.
This may or may not be overcome by forcing a constant performance level. Though as has
been mentioned before, doing this can shorten the life of your card.
Part A .....
1] - click on "power user tab"
2] - go to riva tuner/ nvidia/overclocking
3]- open & look for "EnablePerffLevelForcing"
4] - change the 0 to a 1
Part B ......
1] - go to "Driver Settings"
2] - then System settings
3] - click on Overclocking
4] - change Performance 3D setting to "Force Constance performance level"
5] - Startup settings, click on "Apply overclocking" ... press "Save", then "apply'
madman, when I enabled 16 pipes, I saw arties in 3dmark03 immediately. 12 pipes was perfect in 03. However, in BF2, the arties were immediate. If you don't play BF2, then it may not matter, however, I used BF2 as the ultimate test, cause that's what I need the card to play.
i got 03 working with full 16pipes.
its about 2 times better than what my 5900 got.
