I was worried about the P4P800 not being able to run over 200. Oh could someone please post a link to where I could get a Adapter in the US (Help Charlie?) and a good reliable shop to order a 730 from?
Btw is it possible to Flash the bios with a northwood or do you have to have a prescott? For the Nw I mean could you flash but it wouldn't boot and you just have to put the adapter in and it would work?
Edit: I'll have to think about this. Venice vs. Dothan hmm Maybe I'll actually stay intel If I could do this for about the money a Venice and a good ocing board would be. Maybe cost will be lower towards the end of summer when I should be ready. Hmm may things to consider. But basicly a Fx-55 killer (Dothan@2.5+) for a bit over $200 :slobber: :woot:
Adapter - http://www.xpcgear.com/asusct479.html
730 - http://www.techonweb.com/products/pr...=B52586&src=PG
There's really no point in getting a 1.6 Carmel anymore as the 1.6 Sonoma is the same price and doesn't hit the 170-190FSB wall.
NW works fine. :D
Anyone seen gaming benchmarks for PM and A64 when both runs at max FSB and speed?
Look in Macci's thread in the Xtreme 3d forum. Theres some good comparos.
HI after a fews tests on my Pm 750 with P4P800 VM
_ Always disable the thermal protection on bios (this shutdown the pc at 1786Mhz with stock vcore watercooling and on idle :D)
_Occt doesnt work to valid Oc dues to probably a bug (i've tested all bios option's and it fails on stock speed :S)
My P4P800 SE was DOA :(
Expecting RMA in a week or so :hrhr:
Fun benching sucky platform though...
->
there is a new bios for the p4p800-vm
p4p800-vm bios 1017.001
dont know what it does yet but will find out later.
After i blew a p4p800-e playing with the ct-479 and dothan i picked up a 2nd hand p4c800-e deluxe lets see how long this one works.
I have found a strange problem with a p4p800 after flashing to p4p800-e 1007.003 and going back to p4p800 1021.003 the bios sets the vcore to 1.568v and as there is no vcore options in the bios i cant change it. It wont let me change it in windows either this is only a problem as i am using the p4p800 as a htpc and want to use crystalcpuid to control the vcore and multi based on the %cpu used but it's stuck at 1.568. If i go back to the p4p800-e i can lower it down to 1.5v only.
It could be all the crap i installed testing so i am doing a fresh install to see if that fixes it.
It would be a good way to get higher vcore without the vidd mod.
So far I'm not having fun :(
I can't boot up at 12 x 200... and in windows I freeze every time at 165ish... even when I lower multi/??? This sounds like a problem I've read about before...
Oh and it's p4c800e-dlx and 1021
C
Possibly my 730ES "acts" like a 400fsb part? I just can't get it over 165fsb!!
C
That's exactly what I was thinking when I read your post. What stepping does cpu-z show, B1 or C0?
YUP, you read my mind.
:(
Extreme Bummer!
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...chmentid=31397
now a WHOLE 3 day weekend with no CPU to play with :(
ANd NO local store carries Sonoma's.....
C
Here's the issue I believe.
When Intel cranked out 533fsb Dothan ES, they simply enabled 533fsb support on-die. It was the same exact die as a Dothan 400fsb. The Sonoma uses the revised C1 die and VOILA! Support for 200+ fsb.
This is what I get for trying to be CUTE and grabbing an ES chip.
C
That's just great! I can just throw Sonoma away when I get it!
I suppose it is worth checking at least. Should be here Mon or Tue.
Hallo guys! I hope, somebody help me.
i have 1.6 Dothan + P4GD1 and have big trouble with this.
I cant boot from my Pata Hdd.
When i reboot i see bios screen and than on the left over flashing cursor with black screen and this is all.
I mean is bios crashed?
I try download him, but i cant connect to asus ftp :=(
Did you flash to a Bios that supports the adapter before putting it in?
yes 1005.
Still cant get crystalcpuid to change vcore but i sorted the bios out by putting a p4 2.8 in there and then the dothan and all the vcore options came back so i can run at 1.3v all the time and drop the multi down to 8 when cpu load is less than 5% upto 12 when between 6 and 60% and 16 over 60%. Speed fan is monitoring the cpu temp and will increase the fans if the temp goes over 45 all working very nice.
My p4c800-e deluxe arrived DOA so no m730 fun yet until i get then replaced.
x.treme did you use the /n /pbnc to program the boot block when you fashed to 1005 just a thought.
