it's interesting....
i've had that weird shutdown problem 2 times now... once while browsing and once after playing a game but i have not experienced the problem since going back to the 5/5 bios and getting a new chip
My pc now also shuts down during playing a game.
I called Epox, and they said that it is most probabely a ram defect.
i had 2 reboots until now.
the first one i really don't know why it happen the second one i think it was because the newest version of USDM. after i remove it and installed the versin that came with the board, it never happen again.
i use the 0714 bios and today i made a clear cmos to see if the voltages would get better and i notice that i've lost de cool'n'quite opcion that i had before. im sure it is disabled cause i'm getting the same oc that i had before.
Cool and Quiet options are removed from the newer bios. Guess epox couldnt get it to work.Quote:

Got that right off the usa epox site... no worries, took me forever to find it to back when.
Anyone know if this board supports DTR's?
edit: Jeff if i remember right you couldnt get your 3200 dtr to work right with the 8kda3+. Did you manage to resolve it?
I ended up sending it back to NewEgg.com. I was honest about it and they ended up waving the restocking fee since they saw that I already ordered a desktop chip(that and I have 17 pages of orders dating back 4 years). ;)
only 17 pages? lol...Quote:

Hopefuly the fix this sometime soon
:toast:
Did anyone tried OCZ V-Boost with this board???
I toasted a voltage regulator on my J with only 3.2v. Don't know if there was something else going on or what since via a variable resistor I had it running up to 3.5v... 3.4v 24/7.
I may wait for the DFI offering now or I may get another J to hold me over. Haven't made up my mind yet. ;)

in one place it says A1 and in the other it says A2

Sorry to hear :(
How about trying the Gigabyte nf30250 board...
Epox has some serious issues with there voltages on this board. That's for sure. I dunno why, but I cannot set Vcore in the bios over 1.85. If I go higher some OVP kicks in when starting Windows.
I believed this ovp was kicking in @ 2V, but I'm not sure. Is there any mod for it out yet, cause my proc needs some more juice...
How did you go past 1.7V in the BIOS?Quote:

newer beta bios has that option but sometimes it wont show up... sometimes you only see up to 1.7v other times it will show all the options up to 1.85v... Its flaky. Better off just using the vcore mod and leaving the vcore to auto or 1.5v in the bios and adjusting it with the vr.
Hmm, I'm read back what I typed and I see it can be interpreted in 2 ways.
What I mean is I adjust the pot in the bios at the pc healt screen where I can monitor my vcore. When I get it over 1.85V I can't get windows to start anymore due to OVP.
AFAIK there isn't a bios which has the 1.85V option in the bios. Believe there was one with 1.8 as max core voltage.
This was done with bios 7-16 btw, which seems to be better for tweaking for me.
One thing though. Do not set the mem timings to auto, but adjust them manual. This seems te get me a slightly higher HTT. I'm also getting more cpu mhz with the performance option enabled...
Hope this clears things up :D
here some new bios for the EPOX 8KDA KDA34728.ZIP

NIce, thx now some of you brave souls please report in, so far so good I had to clear cmos battery because I got the undervoltage but now the voltages are stabilzed every thing is smooth sailing.
No differences in performance for me as of yet ?
All the options are the same as bios 7-16 as far as I've seen now. Too bad there isn't a changelog to go with it
Vcore issue looks good. With my pot to maximum resistance I'm getting voltages between 1.520 and 1.552 Idle
@ Load it's going up to 1.584.
Let's do some benching now to see how it performs :D
Hmm this bios is acting very strange...
I looks like Epox partialy fixed the vcore bug. First time I booted and changed some settings in the bios I did get the voltages form my previous post.
Then I set the bios to my last used tweaking settings and the Vcore bug appeard again :(.
Last time I got a spontanious reboot my voltages suddenly were back to normal (without the vcore bug drop), causing the OVP to kick in :(
I also experienced some random reboots in windows and hangs during post. Bioscode 29. Also I couln't hit my last pifast settings of 291 x 10 sync. Mem seems to clock not quite als well as with the 7-16 or 5-14 biosses. When I get to 289 my system hangs, while I could go higher on other biosses with the same voltages and A64 tweaker settings.
Also the a64 tweaker devider of 183 didn't work for me anymore, setting it to that value caused a freeze. while with the 7-16 bios I could set this devider, but cpu-z didn't recognize it so I'm not exactly worked then, but with the 7-16 I could at least set it.
Also tried changing the multi with clockgen, but I still get a system freeze. And the pci still goes up when I set the HTT to 200 and I'm using clockgen to tweak.
So I'm not very happy with the work epox did...
Does anyone have other experiences with this bios??
i got a 8kda3j and only get 2,72vdimm instead of 2,8v... anyone out there with the same problem ?
which bios does fix this $hit ?
Whit 7-16 bios i colud run 348htt.. but whit 7-28 bios i cant nearley go over 300htt.
Has anyone been able to go over 350htt whit this board?
sorry fore mye bad english.
Fosco
Change system performace to normal from fastest.. Putting it to fastest will make your vdimm run .1v lower.Quote:

YoupY.. I had to put the HTT to 201 to get the PCI lock to take.. just encause ya didnt notice.
I know, I was just testing if they fixed in the new beta ;)Quote:
