So OPP, how certain are you about that resistor? I'd hate to remove the wrong one and fry both the board and the chip

it's the only "0 value" one in the vicinity ;)

LOL, that should narrow it down, thanks:DQuote:

Well put it this way, I know its connected to pin 6. Its a 0ohm resister, if you put a VR set to 0 ohms it's the same thing. just increase the resistance very slowlly and moniter the voltages and see if anything happens. If it doesn't work you can set the vr to 0 or just use a line of solder on there as a 0ohm.Quote:

Thats what I would try anyway.
OPP
Good enough for me. Thanks, I'll let you guys know what happens.
Hi there guys,
I was planning to get an AMD64 FX-53 s939 this summer.. But I wont buy it if there aint no good mobos to oc it..
So how is the ASUS A8V working ?
The PCI lock working ?
And the chipset.. in the nvidia chipset coming this summer ?
Then there is that PCI-E issue.. you know when it comes ? If it comes next year.. noway I'll wait..
Im cooling my p4 3.0c with Vapochill LS, but I want more :)
Not to crap on your parade dudes, but this board hasn't really performed at all just yet?
I know this is a pretty wimpy question, but they're 3 lm324's on the board. I tried the one by the ATX connector. Thought that'd be it. Pin 6 to ground, but no increase in vdimm. Any Ideas
It's the one near the corner of the board just below the memory slots. The 3.0 v mod that was on my sk8v moved over without adjusting gives 3.1v on the A8V, but it seeems that the Corsair XL's (samsung 4's) didn't like 3.1v and refused to post there.
I'm thinking that the fact the absolutely NO ONE responded to this means my worst fears are true. This board wont play.

I was just getting ready to pull the trigger on purchasing an A8V pending your results and this isnt looking good. Given the fact that I have an urgent need for the board and processor right now, if the A8V isnt the answer, then I'm in real trouble. There isnt anything else out there to buy.

JC,
It's still new, give it a chance... BIOS engineers are working on the issues....the lack of a pci/agp lock is the only negative. Even with this handicap, it's STILL faster than FX/sk8v.... and we're still early. I was an early adopter of fx51/sk8n, now THAT was an EVIL motherboard and a complete POS with the shipping/Early beta BIOS'es....a few months later and it was ok...
be patient.

Completely OT, but here's what I did today....
hat's off to big #40, now HE was an XtremeOverclocker....
There are two in the upper right part of the board. One next to the memory slots and one up in the corner next to were you measure vdimm. I tried the one next to the memory slots are you saying its the one in the corner?Quote:

JohnClark, I think that there maybe potentional for this board. Give it a few days. See what happens with the mods and new bios.
well while you guys are talk'n about vmods i got some benchmarking done(after a long struggle over a IDE cable, dont ask)
3dmark01se bone stock

best i could get with my barton

For some reason this chip doesnt show as well in non 3d benchmarks as it does in 3dmark01se. I should have aquamark 3 and 3dmark03 results before i go to sleep. stay tuned
Good for you, charlie. It's something you can show your grand-kids one day.Quote:

Aquamark3 is being a pain about give'n me a link
aquamark: 47770
CPU:10317
GFX:6216
I think thats all for me today.
I'm purchasing this board and a 3500+ this weekend myself. I've had enough of Intel :P
And once the 6800 ultra hits newegg, it also shall hit my doorstep. Done with ATI :P
Just playing with the dividers trying to see how high of fsb I can get. Looks like my max is 245. After that I started to get oc failures.
Only 158MHz on the mem??? :eek:Quote:

max 245FSB is sad, unless the PCI locks aren't working...
Wha? That don't look right at all pkrew. You should at least be able to take the mem to 200mhz even with a lower divider. Try a lower multi to make sure its not the chip maxing out.
I can run 8x multi, with the max mem clocks set to 150 (~146windows) and take it up to 213mhz mem for around 2.3ghz. This is on a C0 cored A64 3200+ and K8N-Pro. Don't see why the FX-53 shouldn't be able to do the same. Plus i'm sure you have better ram than my crappy XMS C2 Pro Pc-3200.
Who knows thou, maybe i'm way off with my assumptions.
I can take the memory to 235. I just set a low multi/divider to see how high I could go with the fsb. Look at a few post before this and you'll see a screen of 235 1/1 at 2.93
try lowering LDT
Tried that charlie, went to 2x and it didn't seem to matter. I'll play with it more. I did try 250 and the board flaked out. Got it to reboot once and then wouldn't power on until I cleared cmos
Ahh I see.. Well good luck with it :D
(What rams are you using? Mushkin lvl2? or OCZ EB?)
