nice going charlie :)
keep up the good "hot" work :)
Wether it's brave, or st00pid, what your doing rocks man, you deserve a big pat on the back dude. :D
:toast:
That there is reason # 1 to get BH5 ... The IC7 series absolutly sucks at 5:4 with most ram... BH5 works sweet though.Quote:

Isn't there something in IC7 BIOS for running 5:4??? SOme kind of setting that must be changed?? And NO I don't mean "5:4", lol.
C
Thanks guys...
Another note: Even the day after benching, the darn AS5 turns into AS EPOXY.... ripped my Prescott out of the socket! Fortunately it just popped out, no damaged pins and the hs/f didn't come off. WIll go back to Ceramique...

Good luck, Charlie.Quote:

Be carefull with the céramique though, it does the same as AS5. At least, it does with me each time. Pulls the cpu right out off the socket, each time I remove my HS.
 Nice numbers there Charlie :toast:
Where/how'd you make those containers? Still need one for NB/GPU ;)
ctgilles,
They're REAL simple, just copper tube with a cap brazed on, and filled with 2cm of copper "shot" mixed with epoxy.

Where'd you get the hold down? Hardware store?
It's aluminum U - shaped material. Yes, from the HW store, and cheap.

So any ideas about the 5:4 issue?? It boots into Windows fine, runs Sandra's, etc. But open 3Dmark and push "Benchmark" and insta- BLACKSCREEN
You think it's worth it to mod the IC7 or should I just grab a P4C800-E???????
C
For 3D, the P4C/P4P are remarkably betterQuote:

Man nice clocks. Wish i could get my hands on same l2n.
Very nice results charlie! Good that we can achieve the same results with modded mk1/2's and cc's coolers.
Too bad you didnt have a r9800 xt...atleast a r9800 pro. Would love to see the 3dmark score. The results were not impressive at all (with 3d) I remember my 9700pro and 2.4c@3.4ghz would do 15k easy.
Get some more dry ice or modded prom :D
My 2.4C@3.2 and stock 9700 pro does 17k+
I remember my fx-51 on air broke 20K with the SAME default 9700Pro...

does anyone know WHERE online i can buy caps and resistors and such???? I'm gonna try the HIPRO mod on the IC7 and maybe try a P4C800 later (although it has bad rep for 5:4 too)
C
Nice work Charlie!:toast:
I am a little dissapointed with it's performance though.
Between this thread and the other threads posted, what would convince one to purchase this processor.
I was thinking of getting one but the performance is far worse than predicted.
Tritium,
Yeah, I know...
Think of it as just a different stepping on a Northwood... cheap, too.
all,
BTW, i just mangled my GEIL heatspreaders to get them off...hope the sticks are oK...maybe it'd be easier to heat them up first in the oven to make the sticky stuff softer?????
Remarked of course... at least there aren't any belt-sander marks ala ***

Is that PC3700 Ultra Platinum you say? I have some dirt cheap GeIL Value PC3200 with the same chips :D looks like the same PCB too.
Exact same code exept the week, mine are 0318.
Not great OC'ers, but they do 220 2-3-2 and 230 2,5-3-3 stable with ~3,07-.09v (highest I've tested them so far).
And they do 2-2-2? Interresting. Do they need high voltage to do it?
Or could it be different chips with the same marking?
Good Point!Quote:

mine do 236 at 2-3-2-5Quote:

only about 220 at 2-2-2-5
all at 2.8V
I heard that infineon with -5A is remarked bh-6. Not sure if it applies to geil.
