Still running the 1.8 release bios here no issues to speak of....
CHANGE!....Installed the 1.10b4 bios after having the "crash while idle" problem...nope didnt help. XMP is wrong now too sets ram to a slower then correct profile, and did not help with idle freezes.
Running Win7 64bit, SP1 installed, this seems to be a power problem from what I have gathered.
OK guys. My 2600K did 4.8GHz@1.424V and I know that it can do better.
Can you share the settings you are using? Maybe I am missing something.
Now it is running at 4GHz @ 1.202V (multimeter). Is it any good?

I know for plenty of people using them for basic overclocks is fine and all but if you check out the bot, they don't even have the board listed much less any stellar WR results. I also feel that bios was much more immature than any of other boards I have tested, and I have tested a plethora of P67 boards (Asrock:up:, Asus:up:, and Gigabyte:up: hell even the Biostar p67 board I feel is a better buy at $130) and found all of them to better boards for me:shrug:

I agree on his comment. When Sandy Bridge came out, I build 2X 2600K rig with Gigabyte P67a-UD3 motherboard, and really not liked them (mostly because of Vdroop). So the P67 recall was infact luck for me because I was refunded for the Gigabyte board. Then I ordered a MSI P67a-GD65 and liked it a lot better than the Gigabyte... till I ordered the second one, an Asus P8P67 Deluxe, and yes there is superior boards than the MSI.Quote:

Ok I have the B3 version of this board and I love it! However there is one thing I'm scratching my head about, whats up with the vdroop?
I have my vcore set to 1.28 in bios, and the default high vdroop option set, but under cpuz it shows 1.26v idle, and then jumps up to 1.30v under load?

Only if the RAM is unstable at that speed. Typically you want to take the memory out of the equation of a CPU overclock. To do that I used 2T and stock settings for my RAM. Once I figured out how far the CPU would go (comfortably) I then dropped to 1T and increased the speed on the RAM.Quote:

My board over volts at load, and droops under idle where it causes windows to blue screen out of the blue. My 2500K needs 1.355 in bios to run correctly at 4.5GHZ. Also my board will not run my HyperX at 1600 like its rated. So I am running 1T and 7/7/7/21 @ 1333 speeds for now. Otherwise I like the board alot.
Ok I've checked my CPU volts with the DMM, and it is nearly spot on. What CPUz reports is very close to what the dmm reports.
idle:
CPUz 1.256v DMM 1.265v
Load
CPUz 1.296v DMM 1.303v
I have not had a blue screen/crash yet, but i can see how it could happen. I wish MSI would shed some light on this overvolting/vgain on load thing.Quote:

As for your ssd, if your running win7 you should be fine switching to ahci mode. Win7 has the AHCI drivers installed by default, where others dont, if your running vista, or XP I think you have to install AHCI drivers first, and then you can switch.
