Well the SR-2 just proves its stature even more secured the Sisoft WR today :D
Was just running some 3dmark Vantage CPU tests and got a 88583 which is a unbelievable, I think it may have been a fluke.
4.3ghz and water still :D Did a couple runs because I didn't believe it and 5 other runs between 88-89k.
PhysX enabled maybe?
You do unterstand now? This will never end! :p:
I'm pissed because I'm trying to do a review and the past 2 hrs just went to waste.
Back to 62k now, looks normal to me :p:
Well to everyone who thinks that the evbot is a "hype" product they are wrong.
It has helped me raise my OC in vantage from 205 to 212(154mhz) no doubt capped by the bclk wall. :( Now only if I had 5680's
Not bad though benching 24 threads @ 4.66ghz :p: Managed a cpu score of 66k w/o physX Dave
Two new crunchers? ;)
LOL!!!
i only have a 20a breaker so when i run both machines it trips it instantly under load.
i'll have to move one to another room to get them both running.
Specs on both... (twins)
2x x5680 @ 4.4ghz
48gb ecc ddr3 1333mhz (6x8gb)
3 WD 2tb Black raid 5
2 ocz vertex 2 100gb raid 0
highpoint RR 2720 pcie 2.0 x8 raid card
gtx285
MM pinnacle 18
8 yate highs
antec tpq 1200watt
liteon BDrom/dvd/cd-rw
os is dual boot OSX 10.6.4 and win 7 x64
machines are used for CS5 and Final Cut Pro/Server ops
Switch out those 285's for something less consuming like a Ati 5450 :D and more green HDD's
the 285s offer openCL hardware acceleration in CS5 and FCP.
as soon as nvidia writes a gtx480 driver with openCL support for OSX we will swap to them.
currently im working on getting multi gpu ATI 5870s working for openCL enabled apps.
first of all... holy :banana::banana::banana:, it's amazing what you've done with this hardware! congrats
I have a friend who wants to build using the SR-2 but doesn't have the coin to throw down for dual hexa cores right now so my first question is this: what is a good and cheaper Westmere xeon to put on the SR-2 and overclock?
thanks!
edit:
could we get a spec list of all the parts you have in your system?
what kind of overclock can we get with Intel Xeon E5620's and what ram do you recommend?
Current BIOS is limited to ~BCLK200 for 24/7 stability on air, but that's buggy on several fronts.
I'm hoping/waiting for bug-fixes and a higher BCLK with upcoming BIOSes, but as it is, you should go for a CPU with higher multi to get the potential OC that these CPUs have.
I'm stable at 207 bclk with 1.35 vtt 1.45 ioh with my 5620's.
I'm ditching them soon for higher multi hex cpu's.

i've run up to 213bclk with my sr2 on air. its not hard. you just have to know the right settings. i'll find the screeny
I've been higher too but it performs worse on all benches then.. even though I stay completely stable.
