And another one :) Hello everyone. This will probably be my first and only posting here, but I found no other way to get in contact with Rise.
Rise, thank you so much for bringing the project back to my attention. I participated in the original SETI@home project years back and switched to BOINC from there. After some upgrades to my machines I forgot to reinstall the software at some point and never thought of it again... until I heard your message and your asking for our support. I was pretty shellshocked. The reason for this is, I lost my best friend 18 months ago to cancer. She got to be 24... When you reminded me of the folding@home project, I would have kicked myself in the butt so hard I would have broken my back were it anatomically possible. I still have a machine running 24/7 and I immidiatly reinstalled the folding software and got a new account to join the CS team. If what we all do may someday prevent people from having to suffer through what cancer brings... who gives a crap about a slightly higher electrical bill due to a running PC, right?
So, anyway, lots of words and story, but in the end, I just wanted to thank you. Thanks for reminding me that there is something we all can do. I wont forget it again. I owe that to her. Peace. Out.
thanks for the post Doc, I appreciate it and i appreciate your help :)
I'm sorry to hear about your loss but I'm glad you are doing what you can to help out. A lot of people will hear the message and think other people will solve these problems for them but they really do need our help - thanks for taking the initiative to keep fighting the good fight :)
