Im not impressed at all. Everything is the same except SB850
I was hoping for a better IGP at least.
I believe so, but I can't be 100% sure. Since I am a server guy I don't deal in the client stuff. The SR5690 and 890 share some commonality, but I don't know to what degree.
Unless they fixed the SBxxx AHCI and HDD performance issues than the 890 series is of know better use to me than the 790
On the 790FX using 1333mhz or 1600mhz at various timings made no difference to FPS whatsoever, will be interesting to see if the 800 series chipset has better scaling for memory clocks.

Doesn't look that good, hopefully they can fix it.
So for reference you're using a review that doesn't even use a 6Gbps HD.
3Gbps Sata chip ins't even used on the southbridge its seperate. So they don't even test the sb850 and your surprised it doesn't look good? Find a different review.

[QUOTE=Sil3ntSnip3a;4267633]Someone explain.. Why would gigabyte charge $140.00 for the new 890fx I think you ment 890gx:p: series when their old 790fx is still running $185.00?
But like chew said, this is the lower end board. the 890FX will bring more money.
My point was about sb850 giving similar performance to sb750, and still lagging a bit to a p55 under similarly supported hd specs. I'm not saying that Sata3 shouldn't have an edge over the currently found external solutions on intel boards.
I was less positive for these sata2 results, because it might lag the same way as before when intel adapts sata3 too.
Thanks for the link!

waiting for a first tests ;)
SXS112, thanks for the pics. Not too fond of the heatpipe but the board itself looks superb.
Awaiting overclocking results. ;)
I have a Gigabyte on the way:) Going to have fun with this.
