So bios 1.2 was definately bad for you?
It seems I had my .5 multies with it.

Mine was runing 225 in DC and 230 in SC.. Its not a limit of the chipset.. Ofcourse every chip will prob perform differenet.. it might just be that your ram needs to be burned in with sandras burn in wizard runing a loop of the memory benchmark test over night.. Do a single stick at a time and then see if she will go above that 220ish mark.
I'll do some Bh5 again tomorrow. I'm spent tonight man
thats what it sounds like to me...Quote:

It's like they just started with the first N2 board out there.
I don't get it. Abit is losing it I think. I know too many people who are having even Nf7's die on them for no reason.
Its times like these I think about switching to the dark side...*sigh*...Or at least back to EPoX.
damn when will amd finally release a cheap a64 chip? :(
Well
I didn't put the Bh5 back in yet, but what I did was try one of the DDR ratios so the ram is running under 222 Mhz. I set it for 333 operation so the ram is now underclocked. Matters not. Prime still fails. I say it's the chipset or the bios not the ram.
Just to prove it's the chipset, I turned off CPU Interface at 223 and it Primes just fine. So Nvidia is supplying us with lousy chipsets cause all the good silicon goes for their flagship chipset the N3.
To Nvidia N2 is old news.
Yep still Priming. Crappy chipsets...
And I don't think the next bacth of board will be any better. No will the the lastest NF7's be any better either as witnessed by my last couple NF7's.
Here you go. Boots up at 227 where it wouldn't even boot into windows at 225 but "CPU Interface is Disabled"
So those of you waiting for for better AN7's to come out, I highly doubt the next batch will be better in the chipset dept. It might be better in the way of tweaked options and some fixes but you can't fix a bad cut of silicon.
Only hope for higher FSB's with CPU enabled is doing the VDD mod which many would rather avoid.
So there you have it.
I'm sorry for your disappointement. But, what makes you think that NVidia can make NF2 and NF3 chipsets from the same run!?!?Quote:

They are completely different sets architecture-wise. NF3 is a AGP bridge and SB, whereas NF2 is a AGP bridge plus memcontroller, etc. SB is external on NF2.
I'm sure I didn't have to tell you that! :)
Or are you just regarding the raw silicon materials?
227 prime stable?!
Probably both the raw materials and the initial cutting.Quote:

Even though they are different, the better cuts of the center wafer go for the N3.
This is what is happening. That's why the quality of the newest N2 chipset don't do 235+ anymore.
Of course this may change but I doubt it. I think Nvidia has finally binned these N2 chipsets down to a science.
I predict the next batch won't fair any better.
For a little while. I think it needs my Bh5 not the Ch5 for that but who knows.Quote:

I say it's Just the chipset. Even disabling Interface has it's limits.
So, whether you buy the Nf7 or AN7, I say you'll max out in this gernal area.
My last NF7 did the same thing but at 223. 225 was a big no go.
Can I ask you guys something.
When I try to run the memory test on Sandra 2004, not 2003, it works fine, I can't do the test on 2004. It says "NA"
Why doesn't it work on the N2? The same thing happened with my NF7 and 2004.
you have to clic on refresh ... left from "OK"
OIC now.
Thank you! :)
One of you guys take the 2 seconds it takes to clip on a vdd pot and try the board at around 1.98vdd and then quit the whining! Yes, that means you TT/LD! ;)
Hi Xgman!
Have sex with a wounded raccoon please :D
If I do it I will take the board out and solder it. I don't like using clips.
They can fall off, short the next pin etc..
Tech.. at 227 witch voltages and timings you use !? How MHz your processor is working !?
Wounded?Quote:

I have used clips on at least 7 boards over and over again and never had any trouble. The panoma grabbers retract into the shield if they fall off so they are pretty much fool proof and grab the really tiny legs.
2.094 vcore but I know I can lower it. I was only doing 227 x 10Quote:

or 2270Mhz I could lower it to 1.85v but I don't want to keep at 227 with Interfeace disabled. I'm back to 221 x 11 2434Mhx
But I need .5 multiplier since this CPU can do 2500Mhz just fine.
I can run it at 208 x 12 and I'll max the cpu out.
The Vdimm is 2.80 for the Ch5 sticks
1.75 Vdd for 221 and 227.
Timings are 2-2-2-11 but Prime fails after a while.
I have to do 2-3-2- 11 or 7
But games run great. I have the FX 5900 OC'ed at 475/910
Yes wounded ;)Quote:

I'll see. Right now I want to see some other results on this board
from other people to confirm my suspicions.
Have to decide on whether to keep this butchered guy. I just got mine yesterday. Don't you run without at first? Or do you just epoxy sinks and stuff everywhere to find out the board stinks? I want to mod a cadillac not a nova.Quote:

Anyways... the mod even out? If I get 225 no mod I'll be happy coming from my 1.2. I just dont want any funny business and instability. After burn, new bioses, and mods, I hope it's worthy to be my last socket A - general feeling it seems- just one more!
To anyone that hates it... check out the DFI lan party II revision B or whatever... the new one. The voltages are a plenty and the mounting holes are present. HS'd SB too.
Well I got mine. Just set it up and Im making sure it'll run my 24/7 settings and so far so good. No stability probs.
EDIT: This is at default VDD also.
That's pretty nice Twiggy. I have a Prommy on my Intel rig.
So your doing dual channel vdd default at 226??
Which ram and what Vdimm?
