Damnit! Look at what i had to notice before i went to install the board!
Damage
What do you think? They wouldnt of done this on purpose eh? I mean made a last min change and had to disconnect that trace?
Looks like a scratch..gash more like it.. Like it was done with a tool. i'd like to proceed with the install but am afraid that cut trace will burn up something like my graphics card since that trace connects from 2 caps around it.
Could'nt i fix this with some conductive pen? Either just fill it in or maybe cover it up with some nail polish and then connect the trace with the conductive pen? I think the scratch went down to the copper so if i connected the trace it would also connect it to the copper..
Let me know if one of ya's has any ideas. :(
Damnit.. Night is blown.
Don't you have an old video card to try it out on?
Yeah, multi layer board should be filled then use the conductive pen on her... Should be fine!
Ok workin on it now.Quote:

oh man that hurts.. i just ordered my AN7 a few hours ago.. im so exited!!!!
ill have her wed-day
Welp... Nothing but problems so far!
Damn thing dont wana do 230FSB for nothing.. No matter what mult or voltage. At 225 it will post and load memtest86 but i'll get a few errors in test 5.
I've tried the same with one stick and get the same results. DC SC dont matter! Differenet sticks dont matter!
Oh i forgot the kicker.. My 3rd DIMM slot took a crap.. System will not post wiht a stick in the 3rd slot now :( So no testing with DC anymore.
Either this board is f'ed up or it dont like my Mushkin Level 2 BH-5 stuff.
Man sounds as if you got yourself a bad one :( Hope that this isn't a typical AN7. What voltage are you running on the BH5's?
The farthest i've tried was 3.10 i believe.. The highest i could get her to run was 228FSB.. and that was with the 2nd DIMM slot.. The 1st DIMM slot was a biatch.. i dont think it even liked 225. The 3rd DIMM is still dead hehe.. I was hopeing it would come back but i guess not.
Man i hope that this isint the norm but i'm thinkin this thing needs a VDD mod for more juice to get over 230FSB. That 1.75v which was under volted around 1.72 isint gona cut it. ALl the rest of the voltages were right on.. which was great! They even have a seperate page for the voltage monitoring which showed all kinds of voltages that i never seen before like the NB chip voltage heh.
The board seems kickass.. the bios settings are top notch. For the first time you can control the RPM of your CPU fan at different degrees which was killer if i had a CPU H/S. For those that do should get a kick outa that.
My 5v line was over i believe at 5.02 and the 12v was also over. the 3.3+ was also over at 3.31v. That was a shock cause on my other NF7's i've had it was alway under around 3.25-3.20v That always alarmed me.. So My impression is that the voltages are dead on and stable... oh wait the CPU voltage was a tad under.. Like if ya selected 2.1 it would be 2.04 or something.. Not a huge big deal.
So in the end.. It would do 225FSB in SC since i couldnt run DC with the dead DIMM slot... I also ran the Barton at 2700Mhz at 2.09v and it seemed to run ok...
Oh theres some other temp monitor thing that i've never heard of besides the typical CPU and system temp.. i think it was TWP or something.. Whatever it was it was cookin at around 68-70C! Freaky hehe.
EDIT Hold on now! Make that a PWM.. It says in the manual that this device allows the system to monitor the temperture around the CPU power supplying circuit on the motherboard.. huh? Say again? ok..hehe.
So i guess i gota send this one back to newegg and wait it out for the replacement since there on backorder. :(
I seriously hope you all have better results then i.. If ya dont and yours sucks just as much then i'm stickin with the NF7-S and calling it a day... Though i'm sure i'll be tempted to sell of my 3 new 2500+ bartons and the NF7-S and use that cash to buy up an Athlon 64 system... hehe.
Same exact results here. You think the board will soar but for some unknown reason its stuck to 225-ish.
I think its BIOS related. However I can get more CPU clocks out, 2520 seems stable so far.
Everything else about the board kicks ass, its just the FSB issue. Maybe Abit can fix it, who knows.
methinks somethings wrong with it.
like a broken trace maybe ;)
hmm, ill see when i get my AN7 on wed. ill report here with how it performs compared to my 8rda+ rev1.1
Damn, that's a nice barton eclypse. If I could have gotten one like that I definitely woulda forked up the extra dough but I didn't want to gamble on getting a dud so I got 3 cheaper 1800 dl3tc's instead. Hope they do alright.
It's at newegg now for whoever was waiting for them to get it.

ssshhh, there wount be any left if the secret gets out.
good thing i ordered mine already ;)
