Why not? Mainly because I want to run my CPU FSB 1:1 with my RAM.

In update to my previous post earlier today...well, I guess yesterday since its now past midnight here. but my load temps haven't changed. I may pull my heatsink off and redo the mount applying a slightly larger blob. wish this shin etsu had more in the syringe
Emerica, sounds like weak mounting pressure for me. Infinity's mounting systems is total crap. Try mounting it with screws and a backplate, you should see much improvement. All you need is four 3mm thick 40mm long screws, some washers and a piece of metal for the backplate, and benefits are really big.
Please give your Shin Etsu mount, as you have it, more time. I have some new stuff, Shin and D7coming inbound too. I've got a strong hunch D7 and Shin Etsu both have much longer set times than AS5, etc.....I will be posting data to this effect soon......Trust me, don't pull it yet.....So far, I believe in the D7, but being scientific, we have to know, longer term, what happens.....
Bob
thanks Bob and Sig, i'll keep it on there and see what happens. can't believe i'm saying this but I wish the weather staid colder for another week or so, it been in the 60-70F's causing the ambient to go up in my room. seems AC cant keep up cause my room is 2F warmer than the rest of the house
All i have to say is WOW, this is some good TIM.
Rig:
Q6600 GO @ 3.7GHz
CPU-Z vcore: 1.44V, set at 1.4625V in BIOS
ASUS P5K Premium
Ambient Temp: ~22C
about 15 minutes between tests @ 100% load
Original TIM AS5, ~6 months old. I used the grain of rice in the center method with AS5.
I forgot to check the idle temps with the AS5, so i only have load temps.
Load
Core 0: 68 c
Core 1: 68 c
Core 2: 66 c
Core 3: 66 c
ICD, pea size blob, twisted a few degrees to each side during application.
Load
Core 0: 63 c
Core 1: 63 c
Core 2: 62 c
Core 3: 62 c
That is a 4C to 5C drop in load temps. This stuff gets my vote.
From my original temperatures of 63-62-62-63, I am now down to 62-60-60-61. I think I have got this stuff installed for about a week now. Ambients were the same.
This might help you out. http://www.jab-tech.com/Thermalright...t-pr-3605.html
TRUE backplate has small threaded holes, smaller than 4mm. Normal 4mm bolts won't fit, and 3mm will be unusable. I think it may be easier to fabricate a backplate; an engraver (is that a proper word?) made me one for my dice pot for 10zł (~5$).
Final Results: One week cure time.
04/13/08
16:07:00
Ambient = 23.27c
For me it performed no better, actually a little worse than MX-2 with approx. the exact pressure applied. Possibly a convex blocks effects its performance?
Idle:
Core 0: 34
Core 1: 34
Core 2: 32
Core 3: 32
Load:
Core 0: 44
Core 1: 44
Core 2: 44
Core 3: 43
After 6 days at 100% load on the Q6600 at 3600mhz:
Before on AS5:
49-49-48-47
Now and keep in mind that in the last week here room temps have jumped at least 2C:
45-45-45-44
Solid 3-4C drop over AS5..
In appreciation of your generosity Mr. Tastymanatees and because your product is just plain good I decided to do a little advertising for you.
