dude pcm+ rocks! I knew I liked it already, but I just tried the new shin etsu X??? stuff. Now I know shin etsu needs a few days to work itself in, and I only tried it for a few hours but I just couldn't stand the stuff.
First I couldn't even boot at my OC of 285. I had to drop back to 280 just to boot. Then when I get into windows, mbm is jumping up and down from 44°-51°c. Finally everything settles and it reads 43°c. Alright not horrible. Maybe after these few days it will settle. For comparison pcm+ at 285fsb same vcore was 40° at same ambient. Now I decide I want to try a load test, and I fire up prime. The temps jump to 55° and keep climbing. Finally at around 61°c windows freezes. I restart and try everything all over again. Same thing. I decide this sucks, and I go and reapply my PCM+. I put my fsb back to 285 and it fires up no prob, and in windows is idling fine, and a degree cooler at the same ambient of 27°c. Prime load tops out at 49°c, and touches 50°c occaisonly. Vcore is at 1.55v.
Like I said I know this is not a very good comparison, considering I didn't let the Shin Etsu settle in. Plus we all know the IC7 reports higher temps than most any other board. But for my own curiousity, my tests are fine. I will be sticking with pcm+. I even decided to put it on the NB and my 9700pro.

I think Nanotherm will be happy to see this. After repairing the dmage I'd done by unevenly lapping my 2.4C and SLK900U I re-applied the PCM+ perfectly. It really works well under the correct amount of pressure. The temps were so low I reapplied, flashed the BIOS bac and forward, just to ensure it wasn't some other factor. But wehn the temps were consistant across two baords I belive.
I pray to the thermal transfer God's for rapidly eleviating my CPU from the unavoidable heat which shall be it's eventual demise. It's very grateful to have found the "Fountain of Youth" which is the name of a breif article I'm writing in it's honor. Course, now I'm out of it, having used it as hair gel/color. I needed cool blue to go clubbing and the Nanotherm PCM+ not had me "gel'in like a felon" while dancing it aided the the body's natrual cooling process, 80% of which is dissipated through the cranium. Oh boy.

wow nanotherm, awsome service your providing, and absolutely love the pcm+, i got better temps after 5minutes that AS3 after 5 weeks!!!
question, whats the required burn in time for the nanotherm blue II? i slapped some on today and wasnt happy with the temps, grated i did a bad job of applying to a dirty heatsink. but yeah. how long to burn in, like the pcm takes 10-14days i hear?

Glad to hear that you're pleased with the Nanotherm PCM+. Regarding Blue II, the major part of the break-in of the material occurs in about 48 - 72 hours of normal daily computer use and "on-off" cycles. You may see some additional minor improvements in temps out to 7 to 10 days, whereupon it will be pretty well settled in.
another pcm+ question, will high temps help or hinder its "burn-in"?
like if i applied pcm last night and i want to overclock pretty high today, would this hurt the burnin proccess or will it just work the same nomatter what i do?

No, that won't hinder the burn-in process - a heavy day of OC'ing will help it to a degree. The main thing, though, is that you need to "thermal cycle" the TIM to break it in properly - in other words, taking it through a few "on-off" cycles (computer on, computer off), where the material can expand, contract, expand, contract and conjugate itself - or "break-in," so to speak. You can get a TIM to break in much quicker through thermal cycling than any other method that I am aware of.Quote:

We've already got two very good "sub-zero" thermal compounds - one has been around for about 2 years now and the other since last December. I won't name them specifically, but let's say they are not the Nanotherm PCM+ ;)Quote:
