Well I just did the mod and put 8.9k on he Pot and it was 2.6v before and now it is .. 2.6v :confused:
I have managed to make the BIOS readings for general voltages go from a poor 11.8v to 11.7v and 3.28v down to 3.20v ...
Errr , not too successful.
Sigh. And my soldering was pretty good tonight, didn't even get any on the pet cat.

I have got mine stable at 240fsb 2-6-2-2 with PAT on and System Performance at Turbo using 3.25vdimm. This was with just default NB heatsink and the thing was reaching 70dc!!!! :eek:Quote:

Imve put the water back on and will test now today 1:1 again. I think that you should be right for up to about 3.30vdimm for testing, but dont go over 3.15 for everyda 24/7 imo :tumbsup:

I completely fogot about nb cooling...I wonder if that was affecting my 4pca3+. I don't think so though, because that stock cooler is nice and big, and I have a huge fan blowing alot of air across it. I am gonna pull it off, lap it, and lay on some as3.
How much difference do you think a dd z-chip would make? I got a new pump and rad coming, and I could get some pretty good temps in the water going through the z-chip.
Ill be able to tell you this afternoon whether a Silverprop Nexus is better than the default black heatsink :thumbsup:Quote:

You think that would work better than a z-chip, or the new swifty nb cooler? How easy is that thing to mount? On the 4pca3+ I only have 2 of those hold down loops, will I still be able to use it?Quote:

Nice Mod Thanks to Macci,Works Well I Went With .25V for now.
Im not in any hurry to smoke my Ram. 3.1 keeps me within warranty for now and I Was able to tighten from 2.5,4,4,7 to 2.5,3,4,6 But My max OC is Still FSB 264Mhz 1:1 , I had some Cosair PC4000 which I Sold Thinking It Was My Bottleneck Now , taking Vcore to 1.775 No Help,Any Idea Where to Go Next Vcore Modd ? Vcore 1.8+ ,Vcore Mod, More Vdimm ?? Ram timing No Help
It may be your chip, 264x14 is alot better than my 2.8c would do on air, best stable 24/7 speed was 250x14.Quote:

Stuck the Prometia on it and now 3.920mhz {280x14} is tops 24/7 stable
Thanks to all the ppl here that offered their help for this vdimm mod.
Way to easy! I used a 20K resistor with a grabber. Whole procedure lasted for 15-20 min.
Now i can run my corsair pc3500 @ 233mhz 2-2-3-5 perfectly stable. :)
Good work JoeBar, the corsiar with Bh-5 loves Vdimm ! I wish I had a mb that could give mine some serious Vdimm like 3.6v !!! I'd be able to run mine at 280mhz ! lol

It's true that corsair loves vdimm. The only prob now is that my mem can go far more than my cpu. So i'm stuck @ 233mhz... :(

i first vmod, easy thing i have ever done. but
i only put 2.95v to my mushlink lvl 2 3500, and it didnt help even 1mhz... think it really needs 3v to see any improvement? currently its stuck at 290fsb 5:4 2-2-2-5

Also try ras to cas delay 3.
more volts. Don't drop ras to cas. I would go as high as 3.3v without thinking twice to keep the timings as tight as possible. At 3.3v you might need an average 80mm casefan blowing on your ram, because they will start to get a little warm.Quote:

This is probably a dumb question but how do you lower the resistence on the pot?
Haven't done the mod yet so I want to make sure I know everything before I do. :)
Nevermind about the VR resistence, figured it out myself hehe. For some reason though I can't get the voltage over 2.9v, no matter what vdimm I set in the bios.
Hrmm.. I successfully volt modded my P4C800.. running 3.15v. The wierd thing is.. I can't get my FSB up any higher with the higher vdimm. Before at 2.85v the highest stable 1:1 FSB I could achieve was 265 and now with 3.15v there doesn't seem to be a difference. Whats the best bios for 1:1?
My volt mod using some SMD grabbers.
May i suppose by lowering the resistance on my VR further will get me higher VDIMM than 3.15 currently set at?
If yes would it be ok for the ram and the volt regulator chip? itself?

No need to solder the leg of the fan header anywhere else and make a mess mate...
I can "remove" the mod like this anytime + i can setup the VRs resistanse anytime ;)
U know what happens when u need to RMA a board and u have messed it up...i like nice and tidy mods :D
I have been wondering something...Since the max voltage this mod will allow you is your 3.3v line -.1 or .2, or something like that...what would happened if you didn't use any sort of resistor. Just ground pin6 and set the 3.3v line accordinly so that your max vdim is where you want it. Since you will have to raise your 3.3v line if you want over 3.15v anyway, why not?

Yeah i can confirm that...and it doesnt need 3.3V to feel your fingers burning...3.15V is enough...my mushkin need some sort of cooling in them i guess to make them run higher with more stability...
looping 3dmark or prime95 they were not hot until 3.3v, and with a fan they were fine...anyone have an answer to my previous question?
