There is no money to be made in this, none of us are paying for it. So MS can't come knocking with their hand out and the lawyer cowering behind "Brunno". As stated by NN_STEP there IS NO MONEY involved in this.

The only thing WE have pay for are the DVDs and the Optical drives so we can burn/read/install the OS.

if you are worried about that, there is an option for you to follow to guarantee that XSOS can NEVER be killed off.

Well, as long as you don't profit from it in any way, and all of the end-users are legally allowed to use it, I imagine all will be gravy. It's sure not going to stop me from using it, either way.

More importantly, is there a possibility of swapping out shells or filesystems?

You can request an official torrent, which I can make a few suggestions to speed up seeding. Such as have a dozen people you know just download the tracker and download the OS from my site. They would instantly begin seeding

Swapping of Shells and Filesystems is not going to be done, simply because of the huge amount of changes that it would involve in this version. Maybe a future version but no promises

I cant wait to try this OS... sounds weird tho that MS collaborated on a project like this... they usually dont give a f*ck!

What I want to know is how in the world NN can do all this work on XSOS and STILL find time to post on XS??? :)

I doubt it would be a problem. In fact I see it as a positive since the more visibility it has the better chance of getting additional talented people developing and contributing to it.

If nn just needs a few beta testers then he can simply limit that part of it. I can't, however, see him saying something along the lines of "XSOS is ONLY for XS members..."

It will spread but for right now, I am thinking he wants to keep it limited because of the potential headaches and trouble, nto to mention NN and the rest getting flooded with issues.

allow me please to say that u r totally wrong

shows that he doesn't need/want more visibility or more people to help in developing it

and another reason that when the beta of V2 was given to torrent sites and public nn_step was very angry that he closed the alpha testing of v3 to a very closed group he picked himself using only PM and not even in a thread

so for those reasons i think we should let nn_step himself ONLY worry about the amount of visibility or developing help XSOS needs

and we should only worry about beta testing the os when it is out to avoid more problems like which happened with V2

actually what I would prefer is after beta testing that you start to spread it but not before since right now I am dealing more with Emails/PMs/Phone calls than I am actually trying to find bugs. I understand that you wish to share this and I do agree. HOWEVER could you please just delay it a little bit?

Any chance to making it multilanguage? I could help in spanish version :D

(I will be using it in english anyways though :D )

No problem at all. However, I haven't personally done any 'marketing' of XSOS. I was simply responding to mrapples' idea which sounded like a good one to me since I was unaware of the desire to keep it just to a small group of people while testing. :shrug:
