Identical sticks EXCEPT date and the bottom corner 4 digit number (opposite the dimple) on the chips are different.
Also, stickers match. Only difference I see is the side without the sticker has a significant amount of additional traces in the center of the stick. The side with the sticker on it is an exact match for your stick though.

there's a little trick involved and i can guarantee you every board will run this RAM

and yes that's correct install the RAM properly as you do any other RAM and THEN slighly "unlock/raise" the latch that holds the RAM....that will raise it a touch and let it run properly...........................something must be shorting i guess :)
the reason i tried this is that i noticed the gold plates are a little shorter on these fatbodies so i thought what the hell i'll try that last thing
at first it didn't work BUT i didn't get any error beeps...........and then voila :D

dinos22, nice find. now inspecting the modules we can see that the "regular" sticks have 100% golden contacts:

although it seems weird that some boards work fine with properly seated ram, but others (for example p5b-deluxe) dont.

It's because the contactpoints of the Ebay fatties are a little shorter than other memory sticks. Tutti had problems with a DS4 but with the lifting trick they work just fine. The sticks are also quite well stucked into the slots.

You're great :D You can see what's the problem. They've covered the contacts with some of that green pcb "paint". This is normal and on our sticks some of the metal is covered. If you can clean the contacts you can use them the normal way.

You can scratch the paint off the contacts with a small flat screw driver. Disclaimer: Didn't try it, only on some already dead ram :p:
