GigaByte DS3, DS4 and DQ6 memory thread

Boot: no probs, 1.8
NO OC!

I got this ram on sugestion of friend. He has appologized. He purchased in 2006, and has dif SPD value.( 400/533) he got 2 more sticks this year, wasnt compatible with original 2. His spd same as mine now(266/400) I had to rma first pair, and purchased 2nd so as to not have to wait. Have another dead stick this time:( They have not responded as to what to do with my first rma, and I have not sent back current bad pair, yet) At a loss if I should contact newegg asap and request refund or diff ram. same with current bad ram. YES, all unecessary options in bios are disabled. have been searching forums for hours. Thinking either teamgroup current batch not up to par or their is incompatible issue with this board. THE THING IS, this is my friends mainboard and proc. he had nice stable oc with his original ddr2 800. I am using the one good stick now , prime95/memtest stable 3+ hrs at 333x9. anything over FSB400, system hangs. dead stick it would hang in bios. grrrrr.

Any suggestions on better ram or more compatible with board, appriciated.

May or may not have already been listed here but I have had decent results with cheapish Geil Ultra pc6400 with my ds3.

Currently running at 442 1:1 5-5-5-15.

May well go further but my temps holding me back. :)

my problem: how do you -guys- setup mem voltages, mem dividers in the p35 DS4 mobo BIOS? ctrl+F1 gives me access to cas, etc settings. but what about initial voltage, divider?

Everything is at the same place, where you can change the memory timing. It is weird you don't see it :confused:

thanks. I can do mem timings, but not initial voltages, divider...

RE: Gigabyte DS3 rev 1, motherboard I have is able to run high FSB (max 494 Mhz) but is not stable with high memory clock, although 1100 MHz C5 was stable in superpi 32 m and Prime 95, 3dmark2k1 crashed it within a few seconds to a minute. The Adata I have is rated for 1066 Mhz C5 so it should be able to do 1100 Mhz with fairly loose timings, but combined with 3d card use the memory is not stable at over about 1075 Mhz, even at 2.4 v.

Which divider did you use ?

I'm using the 5:6 FSB:dram setting is this ok ?

Did you test your memory with Memtest ? It might be due to something else the crash in 3dmark01.

For vblanche:
This is picture of the BIOS for the P35-DS3, I guess it's the same as yours. It is after hitting Ctrl+F1 in the main menu and then going into the menu "MB intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T)"

No I don't test with memtest, but with prime 95 using large FFT for hours on end.. and folding@home, which worked for 72 hrs on SMP projects but locks up if the memory is a bit flakey. 1100 Mhz is borderline.. so far it went through prime, but failed in f@h after 72 hrs, and 3dmark after 30 seconds.. 3dmark2k1 is very good at picking up any kind of problems in a system, it's often used to test system stability in PC repair shops.
oh, yeah, this is on a P965 gigabyte DS3, revision C1. The P35 questions and answers should be in the Gigabyte P35 thread, which is above this one. This thread was started in 2006 and is for Gigabyte P965 motherboard memory related stuff.

For RAM tests Windows isn't really the optimal test environment, as you won't be able to access all RAM-adresses under windows. ;) Test using Memtest or Goldmemory first and then a round of Prime afterwards. This way you really test your whole RAM.

Anyone know if 8gb (4x 2gb modules) will work in the DS4 2.0 board (with Vista x64)?

I have 2x1 gigs Crucial ballistix pc8500 @ 1066mhz
on a DS3R. I havent tried overclocking ram yet

Bios F11
E6750
VCore - Standard - 1.35V
Everything +0.1
Memory is ocz xtc platinum rev 2 - it was $29.99 after rebates!!!
4-4-4-15 @ 2.0V (was 2.1V but it is stable @ lower).

OC is 375x8 so SPD = 2 so memory is running at 750MHz (1:1).

I eventually want to upgrade my cpu cooler and NB cooler to get to 3.2 - 3.8 but don't have faith that i the memory can take it. Plus I want silent PC so noisy cpu fan is out of question.
