XFX Extreme 550/1630 stock clocks, $329 at Monarch.
I haven't had time to mess with it yet, but I did run 3dmark05/06 at 600/1630 yesterday at stock volts and cooling.
Edit: core maxed at 615 at stock cooling. Still finding upper range of memory, right now it's at 1800.
***Deimos***,
Check this out:
713/913 on GT:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=660
vs
http://img81.imageshack.us/my.php?im...k0663998mh.jpg
713/1826 vs 740/1978
6512 vs 6399. Yeah the CPU in the first case +125MHz.
mark06 doesn't so sense to freq in case one core CPU.
But the core and memory! pinto should get much more in HDR/SM3.0 tests!!! Anyway - we can add 113 marks due to CPU compesation but... +27MHz on GPU and +162MHz - it does make sense.
Also, what do you think about 11.1k in mark05 on 740/1850 GT and one core 2.8GHz AMD? I think 11.9-12.0k should be here. Since 11.769 was done by Shark-357 on 716/1000 GT with the same one core AMD CPU.
Also, if you compare Shark-357 with pinto - you will see that Shark-357 can hit 12.0k in mark05 on 716/1000 with dual core Opteron at 2.8GHz.
If you look accurately, pintos HDR/SM3.0 score is driven with 2D clocks not 740MHz. That's why score is so low.Quote:

I'm talking about issues on GT in case of 730-800MHz on GPU. Why we can't get stable clocks in tests? I mean 3D clocks in one subtests and 2D clocks in over subtests at the same test run? I saw many results on 730, 740, 750 MHz for 7900GT - no one can pass mark06 only on 3D freq. Aslo, does anybody can prove that on 740MHz or 750MHz he can pass mark05 without freq drops or skiping GPU cycles? No one I suppose. 12.2k on GT with 750/1820 with delta +20? I can believe if it's one core GPU but not two cores.
Can you try to flash 740 for all modes and run mark05 and mark06 tests? but it doesn't helps if we have power circuit issues.
Doing 705/1800 on water so far with 1.55v
Mysterfix, please post your 05 and 06 results on 2.8GHz....

@Mysterfix: What version of the 7900 GT EE do you have?
Does anybody know that the absolute maximum overclock of the Extreme versions is higher then the normal 7900 gt's? I think a lot of people do not want to spend another extra 10% for a factory higher clocked card if the max. overclock is the same for both cards. Does anybody know? Do the card manufacturers put their better samples on the Extreme cards or do all the chips cope with the higher speeds? So this goes for both the gpu and the mem.
Penny for your thoughts :)
I have the 520/1500 version.
Has anybody fitted an Accelero X1 to their 7900gt, or does anybody know if it will fit, web search found conflicting results
To my mind pinto's board has some idling issue, i got similarQuote:

Same for the GPU but hard to sense, should be around 720-740 MHz
Am thinking of the issue mentionned in the Vmod section where either the OVP is in cause or the switching frequency of teh regulator, both can be patched with some modding that i will try soon

Just did the 1,4V mod. I choosed to use a micro switch for the mod, this make the mod really easy to enable/disable. Did this because I often work with noisless solutions, and I have plans to make a non fan cooler for the card!
The card is a XFX GeForce 7900GT eXtreme. Running default @ 520/1500
Could run @ 541/1600 before the mod..
..after the mod the nForce drivers reports 636/1764 as the highest clock.

I got my eVGA 256-P2-N563-AX today from nn_step :toast:
Initial clocks a bit mediocre @ 541MHz / 1680MHz with stock cooler.
Gonna do some work on it and report later..
I did mount my NV Silencer 6 without any modifications whatsoever, everything fits like it's meant for it....precise length and clearance:clap:
Temps I see with the NV on slowest fan is 42 idle and 52 load....and dead silent

Mysterfix, can you post detalied(with fps for subtests) screenshots with 2.8 and 2.9 results? Also, please point your drivers version. I think you should have a little bit more in mark06 like 6.5+k. Post your memory screen in CPU-Z. I think you have more slower memory speed than 1Gig systems.
2All: Just flashing +20 delta to GTX instead original +40 makes mark05 points GT equal to GTX. ;)

Ok, got my 7900GT vanilla a couple days ago and this is what i've got so far. This is part#256-P2-N560-AX. Stock clocks are 450/660.
I did the 1.5 volt mods so far. Both these screenshots are done at 724/921 with a 40mhz delta in the bios. 84.21 drivers with 100mhz pci freq. Both are submitted on the orb.
BTW, thanks guys for the volt mod info on this site. This is where I got all the info to mod the card.
EDIT: Just bumped the PCI Freq up to 120mhz and got 12,122 in 3dmark05

Snakeskinner ..how do you get the Nvidia panel to show higher memfrequencies than 900MHz?
Coolbits is just a registry entry that allows NVIDIA overclocking. The range of overclocking options is based on the clocks in the bios, I think it adds 25% if I remember right. So I changed the bios to 500/800 to give me more range with coolbits. You can also physicaly change the registry entry as well.Quote:

Well after a few attempts at vmod finally got it to work as in coolbits detecting a higher core as when i tried foil + copper tape coolbits did not recognise any higher clocks... so i just tried paint first attempt run coolbits no difference but when i moved the core slider it was ok up to 660core before clock test failed...so i took it out and give it another once over....and hooray ran coolbits and it finally detected 634 on core....Thankgod!:).....Oh and now for sometesting.
Well, I good way to GUESS would be if you can overclock higher, and nothing is smoking. Really, you guys crack me up. You pay $300+ for a video card, and cant spare $5 for some conductive ink, or $5 for a multimeter.. its almost as if you have so much money, that dont care if new 7900GT burns up.Quote:

Hi all, I've got a MSI 7900GT and I'm trying to overclock with coolbits. But even @ default clocks, if I test with coolbits it says that it didn't pass the test.
I'm wondering if coolbits is compatible with MSI's drivers? Because they have there own overclocking utility. However, if I have coolbits "detect optimal frequencies" it sets my 3D values to 536 Core and 778 Memory.
I doubt my video card is defective, because I've been gaming with this card @ stock clocks since yesterday with out a hitch. Just wondering if there is a software conflict of sorts with these particular MSI drivers. BTW those drivers are version 83.90.
Thanks for the help all. :)
Here you go...i did this just for you Deimos...pic a bit on the large side....copper tape peel of backing and apply.:)Quote:

It was wierd, I checked with my DMM very first to see what the voltage was. It was 1.500 on the dot. I thought cool, i'll hit autocetect and see how far it increased. I was looking for way more than the 585 my card did at stock volts. But it went through its thing and autodetected like 600. I thought, oh well, that was a waste of solder, lol. But then I started overclocking for real, and bumping the clocks and benchmarking to see what happens like your supposed too, an lo and behold, up to 724 I go.
So the morale of the story, don't rely on any auto detect thingys, its been my experience that they all suck.

It doesn't seem to me that your scores are off that much, if any at all. Your core is only 560, and I think 9400 in 3dmark05 is a pretty decent score. To get over 12000 I needed 724 on the core with a 40 delta. 560 to 724 is a BIG difference. So I think your scores are ok.Quote:

Also raise your PCI freq as high as you can get it. I ran mine at 120mhz just fine and that was good for a few more points.
You can also try the drivers Dstealth is using, they seem to give a decent boost in 05 scores.

Btw, try to run a 3DMark with 560/1800, lets see what you get. Can you do that?
Well guys I got in contact with XFX tech support and they have agreed to RMA the card. Newegg also said I could send it back to them but they don't have any in stock so I think I'm gonna send it back to XFX. They said it's gonna be about 2 weeks from the time I mail it till I get a new one in my hands.
Dstealth: Your scores are pretty dang good  I'm gonna pm you so you can give me the run down on that LOD thing you were talking about. I never heard of it before.
Delta is a setting in the bios. As far as I know, it can only be changed there.Quote:

I would try a different driver and see how it works out. Look on the orb and find the one all the guys are using that are on the fron page and use that one. Should be 84.21 official driver I think.

my first results with a EVGA 7900 gt co using 1.4 v-mod. My question is how do I get powerstrip to let me clock my gpu higher? Its maxed at 665. Do I need to flash my cards with different bios?
MsB you just have to double click on the icon at the bottom of the gpu bar and change it from 133 to 199 and that will give you alot more head room.
 DOH! :thumbsup:Quote:
