Here is my power regulator cooling.. Came from a thermaltake volcano 11.
I attached it with a mixture of Arctic Lumiere and silicone sealer.
I also sanded down the power regulators to get a better contact patch and to flatten them out so that the contact patch was as large as possible.

i got a problem here... I cant tell what core m C3D GTO is... it doesnt say R420 or R423 on the core.. so im a bit baffled.. ATI tool says 423 but from what ive read, doesnt mean anything.

that's the r423. for some reason, ATI decided not to print "r423" on the core. it's like that for all r423 cores.

anybody else noticed there overclock diminish over time? mines vmodded and the pc used to freeze at anything over 620 core , every now and again i started getting freezes more and more often whilst gaming , so ive ended up going down to 600 on the core to stop it
I need help choosing which card to keep, here's what I've got:
Sapphire X800GTO2 - modded to 16pp and o/c to 500/600 - 3DMark05: 6200
Connect3D X800GTO (card 1) - modded to 16pp and o/c to 570/570 - 3DMark05: 6520
Connect3D X800GTO (card 2) - modded to 16pp and o/c to 580/555 - 3DMark05: 6590
I seem to have got a real duffer of a GTO2 which is a shame. My instincts tell me to keep the card with the highest clocked core which would be the 2nd C3D GTO which also scored highest in 3DMark05, however the mem is lower than the GTO2 and first GTO. Is there any benefit in keepin the GTO2 with it's R480 core and 1.6ns mem even though it clocks lower and scores less? Which card would you keep?

Well I got 7581 this time in 3dmark. I had to get a fake liscence key for 3dmark as it would keep crashing in the loading of the cpu test (cpu is totaly stable), and thus I cannot submit the results. Please note that I do NOT support any form of piracy and if you wish to use the full features of 3dmark 05 or any of the other 3dmarks you should purchase a legitimate key.

Too much overclocking to the VPU will crash in CPU test too. :)
PS: Just press "ESC" after the first 3 tests completed if you just want the total score.
ya.. ive noticed that it locks up when i push the gpu too far... I did the voltmod and it got me some more mhz but im still trying to figure out where it is stable.. i believe around 640mhz at the current volts..
Sadly the mounting plate on the maze4 covers up the voltage check point on the X800 so i need to make a new voltage checkpoint (solder wire to the checkpoint and route wire to molex connector.
No i didnt tweak the ram.. the ram seems to be a bit weak. The ram is only totaly artifact free in all games and progs at 570.. but it will 3dmark just fine without artifacts at 600.
i tried to press esc like i usualy do after the 3rd test but it was a no go..
anyway, hopefully I will be posting a 8000 score tonight after i pus the vcore to 1.6v

interesting tin tin.. I tried 600mhz with the tweaked ram timmings and it instantly restarted the computer... For now I will work on getting the core higher and worry about the mem later. I think with 1.6v I can get 670 core.

I got a watercooled x800gto2 @582/636 tweaked memtimings and with my cpu @2400mhz (SD3700+) I got 7334 3dmarks 05 :)

well I feel good. My score beats beats most of the more expensive GTO2 cards... though I would still like 1.6ns memory.
My GTO2 doesn't clock too well on the core...only up to 540 w/o artifacts. Some of the scores on here are insane!

well as of now I got my core to max out at 665 with watercooling and 1.6V.
something to note. from windows to full max load the vgpu drops around 0.005 volts. from no output (changing resolutions) to max load the vgpu changes 0.01 volts. I know this isnt really useful info, but for anyone who gives a hoot, here it is.
also i noticed that I am getting load temps of a shockingly high 48C!!! on my old X800Xt at 1.7volts and 655 core it would never go above 38 under max load.. very very wierd. i dont think this core is running that much hotter, but its possible. my old one was R420 (agp) and this one is R423 (pcie).. changing to PCIE must have really done something to the core. OR the temp sensor is just off its meds.

I just got my c3d x800gto@x800xt with vmods and i can't love this card enough!!!.I got ~6k from mark05 without any overclocking (500/500) and i just tested with 1,45Vgpu (630/630) and i got ~7,3k from it!!!.How high i can go with this??.1,6V 24/7 and 1,7V in tests??.How about vmem,is 120mm blowing beside it helping so i can raise the vmem from 2,10V =>?. I saved 40€ by selling my x850xt and buying this treasure and gained close to 1k more points.....jeah!!!I LOVE ATI

My connect 3d at 550/600 gave 6662 in 3d05.I had an mutant asus mobo(a8ne-fm) :stick: witch had no OC option so the CPU(venice 3000) was stock like the memory one stick of corsair VS 512.Better results on the way.

hi guys, i did pencil mod @1.45 volt, but i get artifact without more clock, before the mod i can bench 580 core without artifact, but after pencil mod @ 1.45 volt i get artifact with 580, even with 560 core, is pencil mod not so good??? variable resis is better? or i have put it higher than 1.45 volt? hm, 1.6 volt? 1.7 volt? I got my Connect3d GTO yesterday, and I have some preliminary results:
-The card modded successfully to 16pipes
-The stock cooler was noisy as hell at 100% :D (and not very efficient IMO)
-On water now, idle temps 31/37; load temps 42/41 @ around 20 ambient (Venice 3000 @314x9 1,52v in same loop)
-I am doing max mem/max core as we speak, the mem has been artifact free for 100min+ at 585mhz, seems like the core does at least 550mhz
To sum it up: I am thoroughly hardware- happy :D, beats several GTO2s @ only 75% price and beyond bang for the bucks toghether with my 3000 Venice
I will update my post with final speeds, a few benchies perhaps and a pic of the core

I managed to kill my first one and only now do I realize how nice it was to be able to do 670/620 with water and Vmods. The cards death was really quite strange. Basically, it would only work at PCI-E 2x regardless of slot. Very odd... this choke point in bandwidth made a noticeable dent in benchmarks even though the clocks were able to stay high. It was R480 core of course, made 0452.
I recieved another one today with core date of 0502 and I figure I should get similiar results. I fully mod it with sinks and Vmod before it sees first light. Finally get it all setup and its just a dog! Will just barely do x850 clocks of 540/590 on stock volts. at 1.6vgpu, I can just make 600/600 stable in ATI Tool.
Now I know this is still quite a bit of something for nothing, but I was surprised to see such a variance...
Still... GTO2 :toast:
It will get me by til R580.
By the way, that "other connector" is for VIVO. If you plug floppy power in there, your card will hate you real fast.
