Nice kakaroto! How are your temps? What kind of water additive did you use?
Thanks! My temps are 30C idle and 41C stress (opteron 146 @300x10 1.488v Prime stable and with IHS on)Quote:

Very nice ,,, i see that u have small vga [6600-x700?] a chipset & vga cooler can be attached also :D
Thanks guys, i feel honored. :)
zeus: that's one clean setup :D I was just wondering about the vibration of the pump? is it loud? and how sturdy is it?
Thnx.:)Quote:

How sturdy is what? The pump or the mount?
The pump is very good built and the mount is a bit flexible but it definately won't come off.
finally got some pics my rebuilt system. replaced my noisy hydor l35 with a quieter D5 and installed the BIP3
Here is my first attempt at building a watercooled rig. I like the TT Tai Chi case and they hung most of the components on the door. I didn't want their POS stuff so I ordered the case and loaded it up with mostly Swiftech components. I still have to install the UV lighting.

Nice job Rapier. Looks like top notch gear all the way. No corners cut here. Very clean, if unusual install.
You know Rock, I always have to be a little different. I do like the low temps of 82F at idle and 104F under load with Opti 146 @ 3.1 ghz and 1.57v on the core.Quote:

I don't know, I charge it back to my department and sneek it out with me. I'll see if can find out some specs on the stuff. Its a thick wall silicone tubing. 3/8" id and 1/2" od...Quote:

The only trouble me and Rockhammer have with the stuff, is that liquid must evaporate through the tubing walls at a very low rate (like < 1 ounce a month or 1 cc/day). Rockhammer says after 6 months or so that the rate will drop to about half that much. its weird, you don't perceive any loss through the tubing walls, but at such a very low rate, you wouldn't anyway. The stuff does stay very flexible even after long periods in time. Rockhammer does say it'll stain with what ever dye you use in the system after some time, but it doesn't really matter if you never change colors.
Really awesome :toast:

side is off by the way, i gotta dremel a spot in the case window so that the d4 fits, it's hitting the window atm :(
btw, will it effect my cooling if the rad is mounted on it's side? cuz that seemed to be the best way to mount it with the tubing

One of those new Aquacomputer fan grills in black would look nice instead of the brushed alu one imo!
How is that respack reservoir? I'm considering using one in my next project :) The outer frame of it is anodised aluminium isn't it?
I like the contrast of the silver grill with th black case.
The reservoir is great. 1/4" threads. The one I have is made out of delrin (same as the Storm). There is a version made out from aluminum, but this one is safer.

Hey everybody, this is my second post on the forums and I'm just looking for some friendly advice... I am thinking about watercooling for the first time, and as a beginner I don't want to get in over my head. I'm pretty confident in my abilities, but I think the simpler the better. I've been building computers for about 10 years now, and here is my current setup;
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice E6 CPU 1.8GHz (9x200) @ 2.7GHz (9x300) 1.7v
1024MB (2x512MB) OCZ Premier 2.5-3-3-7 Dual Channel PC3200 RAM w/ Heat Spreader
ATi Radeon X1800XT 512MB 625/1500 @ 750/1800 (Core/Mem) 1.48v
80GB Barracuda 7200.8 SATA 7200RPM 8MB Cache
200GB Barracuda 7200.8 SATA 7200RPM 8MB Cache
MSI K8N NEO4-F Mainboard
Enermax 535W PSU
My cpu idles around 32c on stock air cooling, and under a full load reaches about 47c. That's a 15c jump that I would like to eliminate. But not bad temperatures considering the 900MHz overclock, and extra .3vcore.
My video card idles around 42c (at stock) or 60c (when overclocked) and can reach upwards of 90c when full load. I definately want to eliminate those high temperatures on the video card.
My plan is the following... I want to pick up a thermaltake bigwater se kit... I work at a computer store so I can get one cheap. Comes with approx. 10feet of hose (1/4" ID) a 120mm radiator (copper heat pipes with aluminum fins) a small water pump (approx. 100LPH) and a resevoir that fits into a 5.25" drive bay... I also plan to pick up a 1/4" waterblock for my video card, we have some KOOLANCE blocks at work...
I know that most people think 1/4" is too small, but I am a beginner, and I am not looking to get crazy cold temperatures... Mainly I want to quiet down my computer, the X1800XT and CPU fan both at 100% all the time make my computer sound like a jet engine.
The way I look at it... Any watercooling setup (even 1/4") should give better cooling and be much quieter...
Anyone have any input?
I would say 1/4 is a bit thin to cool a x1800 that well. You shouldnt expect too much, I almost would think it would be close to air cooling, obviously a little better, without the noise.
I dove right in to my WC setup, it was easy to setup, I had no issues at all.
go custom all the way dude
my first wc set up consists of
d4 pump
120mm heatercore with 1 fan pullin, 1 fan pusshing
mcp05 cpu block
and a res
all 1/2 ID tubing
it's really easy to set up
i would suggest getting a t line though
and maybe a dual 120mm radiator/heatercore
What if DangerDen had a sale and nobody came?
Under Construction:
Swiftech Storm CPU block
DD Low Profile Maze4 GPU block
2 x D5 pumps
Thermochill PA120.3 rad
2x Thermochill PA shrouds
6x Yate Loon fans
Swiftech res
7/16 Tygon tubing
-pickles
http://www.binaryresults.com/wc/p180medium.jpg

Nice setup there, very clean (wiring needs a little work; but no dust, haha j/k).... Still don't get why GER wasserkuhler are small dia tubing and US watercooling is big bore tubing.
ps... are those pics really two years old?

i think its all the same , which tubing u use^^ the flow is ok , too
the temperatures are also very good..so why do all american watercooling users , take this **** big tubings ?
i think it looks not very good with big tubings :(
are there in US no shops , where u can buy this "normal" tubings?
Its actually an Alphacool NexXxos tripple 120mm but it does look very similar to the XSPC 120-T and has the same size 1/4" fittings, difference is in price, I paid a bit over £30 for that rad from www.candccentral.co.uk whereas the XSPC is about £45. While I cant compare its performance to the likes of a PA120.3 or any of the other top performing radiators I can say its well built (and I do like the chromed shroud for fan attachments!) and came with all screws necessary for attachment of both fans and the radiator to the case, also included were rubber grommets to reduce fan vibration noise. Obviously its much better than my old setup of a dual 80mm and single 80mm Asetek Waterchill radiators.Quote:

In front of the removable 5.25 bays where i easily can place my rad. It can suck in the cold air outside the case and let the warmer air out of the case at the backside of the case (120mm fan).
Small problem, I have a dvdrw + floppy + fancontroller + reservoir that needs to fit in the remaining bays. Hope this works or i have to choose the following setup.
Drill out the top of the case to fit my rad. Bit more work but saves some space.
But radiator is cooled with hotter air from the case too the outside.
But the same setups will perform about the same, nothing to make me worry about. I already have a good caseflow (2*120mm + 4*80mm and 2*120mm at rads)
I think i'll go with the rad at top. :)
Delerious did you do that custom work at the top with the drive bays and such? If so, it looks completely professional.. amazing work.

Drives will sit on left, taking floppy bay and using it for now, then some dremel work and riveting to take one of the HD mounts I removed and put it up there. Think there will be enough airflow for the drives. No window since this is for HTPC and no one will see it after I'm done  And I am making this another cooling system that can be removed w/o disassembly, just unplug and detach Res and Block, then pull the whole thing out :D
