ok thx ;)
We now need to see if it will get any different results in Extreme Tessellation setting.
Well, one more day to go
Minimum frames are better with 5850 and 10.9 than 6870
one more from GigaByte 6870

Interesting
So assuming those leaked 6870 benches were real, then in Heaven at least, 6870 @ 900 Mhz w/ 1120 SP's = 5850 @ 900 Mhz w/ 1440 SP's... hmm
Interestingly enough, 1440 is 288x5 whereas 1120 is 280x4, if we are assuming that 4D is nearly the same efficiency as 5D, assuming no other changes were made
So ironically this just asked more questions.. is it more efficient front end, or did SP's get tweaked?
from what the rumors suggest, Bart XT still uses the same 5-way shaders. Cayman is rumored to bring the new 4D layout.
It's actually already on sale on Malaysia (one store, limited stock) for RM 700 and 790 (6850 and 6870 respectively).
GTX460 1 GB costs around RM 700 here.
they tested with Forceware 258.96 = Boo
and overclocked GTX460 @765/3700MHz = Boo
it says GT 240 ?
HD 6870 > GT 240???
And the filters are differents.

Image 3: 1920x1080 8xAA 4xAF
Now we maybe looking at something different:)
10.9 5850 900/1050 for comparison on efficiency all assuming its legit;)

Seriously only 1 xfire bridge:confused:
Hope they have a good reason why they didnt offer that scaling on the 5series:mad:
Because you trying to be a smart ass too

this is the bench I was referring
5850 @ 900MHz and 10.9
http://i52.tinypic.com/v3lpxy.jpg
But due to price it's also less likely for people to buy several expensive cards so it would make sense to have more than 1 bridge on Barts as these would be the cards people would concider running more than 2 with (I personally couldn't care less as I never intend to run multiple cards).
For the price of 3 Barts one could probably buy Antilles which will be all around faster. I just don't see many users going for 3Fire with these cards. When Cayman arrives,it will be probably better than 2 Barts in CF(due to scaling issues in CF Vs single "fat" GPU like Cayman).
Hope that one was 1080P, cause we are sooo buying the 6850 ;D
our 4770/x3 720@3,5 scores similar :D :
http://i51.tinypic.com/j6qsmp.jpg
BUT 720P ;D
Those 6850 scores are interesting. Beating a OC'd GTX 460 1GB in games (and not synthetic benches) is impressive, if true. A 6870 might well trounce the GTX 470 then
Already salivating on what a beast Cayman XT is going to be.
This is early drivers too.... :)

Seems good. Unknown if 6850 or 6870. :D
Not impressed at all. I will sit tight with my GTX 465--> 470 and the Core sitting at 800 with more headroom left. :)
68xx series are aimed marketwise against 460 nvidia.... seems like your still messed up with the naming schema...:D
yes sit tight with your heater @800 for a while with headroom
nvidia just doesn't drop the 470 price without a reason, wait for the reviews.
4pm on the east coast and non on newegg. Hate paper launch's
lol that's not how it works...
"looks for UBISOFT benchie" nope, check.
Great an early review.
edit: They reeeaaally need to include Civilization V in these reviews. A really good metric for DX11 performance. This would highlight the DX11 performance for people on the fence between a 5870 at slightly lower cost vs 6870.
Bonus for us few audiophile whores on XS: 7.1 channel, lossless sound 192kHz / 24-bit and 1.4a through HDMI (sweeeeet)
The guru3d review puts the 6870 awfully close to the 5870 in a lot of the intensive games, so getting a 5870 on less power draw and less cost is going to be awesome
you were lucky with your unlock; only very few people got a stable card; and i agree that barts brings nothing new for GF100/104 or HD58xx series owners, but i think that this chip is going to be very impressive considering the extremely high efficiency (which simply isn't there on GF1xx cards and isn't really high if you compare cypress to RV7xx)
The Guru review is utterly slow. Very nice numbers so far. Nvidia better ready that 475 fairly quickly
Is there any idea on the projected price of the 6870 on the egg? 249.99?
so basically, reading this review, the 6870 is between a 5850 & 5870, apart from tesselation (which has improved).
The price however is under a Nvidia 470, making it a mid-high range card, rather than the 5870 which is higher priced?
Or am I reading it wrong.
if so, these cards are pretty decent, and don't burn a hole in your pocket or your electricity bill
Overclocking sucks tho, 954mhz was max core guru 3d
lol gurus site must be getting pounded for these reviews
all of you need to get off the Guru3D site so i can read this review:mad::p:
until i read this review though best part of this whole launch seems to be GTX 470 for like $250.00 thats a sweet deal
Ok here's some screenshots while its down.

I grabbed all that i could from the Guru3D review :D Didn't get a chance to grab the system spec's before they pulled it down.
Enjoy...

Looks like scaling is fixed.
Is 5970 dual 6870's or is it the true successor to the 5870?
edit: I am retarded, I misread 5970 for 6970.
Thanks monkey.. Exactly what i was looking for. Hmm.. 6870's in Xfire looks nice except i'm not happy with just running 2 cards.
480's price NEEDS to drop
All the review pages.

41 db under load, and 121 watts under load. That's pretty damn impressive.
6870 seems quites good, i am happy.
Im drolling at 6850
6850 is much faster than i expected; amd just destroyed pretty much all value the 460 offered if 6850 is priced at the same level as 460 and 6870 takes over the 5850 price point, i thought that 6850 is going to match 460 1gb not exceed it
EDIT: power efficiency is much better than expected; can't wait to see overclocking results on water!
only one review and you make that judgement ???
they will ... they will .. if amd is putting the squeeze in the mid high range nvidia will need to either get a 28nm product out or refresh the architecture to make it more viable in price/performance ... so i expect some price drops for sure
after 2900 series ati is kinda intel of gpu world damn impressive how they keep improving existing arch
HD6870 is right there where I expected (ok I expected it to be closer to HD5850 than 5870 actually) but HD6850 is doing a lot better than I expected, I can see why Nvidia got such a sudden urge to do drastic price drops... finally competition brings down the prices... about time... Imagine if Barts XT with 1120 SPs can get THIS close to HD5870 then it will be a walk in the park for HD6950 to beat HD5870 and not to mention HD5970 with 1920 SPs...
considering power consumption, i wouldnt be shocked if clocks were limited cause they were running such a low voltage. we were told the 6870 was going to be like a 5850 in power draw, but its clearly much lower
i didnt think i would be buying a new gpu till 28nm, but if the perf/watt and perf/$ is this Fing good on the 6850, i think it might be time to give in, especially if it can overclock just as well as a 6870.
Performance numbers are indeed great, but AMD spoiled us with 48xx and 58xx :). What is extremely good is power consumption. You basically get nearly 5870/5850 performance going to 6870/6850 with massive power draw drop(60-70W) at the same time and much better CF scaling. It's a pure win, kudos to AMD!
lower voltage should give out more headroom ... but maybe they had refference boards ... and those might not scale nicely .. all im saying is wait and see before making those sort of claims based on one review only .. and since the numbers do look good i cant imagine non refference cards :D
£199 @ OcUK for HIS HD6870, not bad, not bad at all. That's like 225 EUR and that usually corresponds to around $250 on US sites (that's comparing cheap european sites/countries vs US cuz often we pay same figure in euro what americans pays in USD in Finland and several other european countries with VAT included).
Did you realized that guru3d had used same numbers for GTX 460 768MB/1GB as in the 12 july review of GTX 460, and from there there were released until now, 3-4 new drivers...
Look in the 12 july review....
