Good luck with your GTX 295! I'm looking forward to some killer scores! Will you get your CPU under DICE?
I just posted a CPU-Z validation of a friend's laptop, it's not much, but it should be worth a point and keep me above 70 points at least. I will get all 2D results over the coming week. :)
Edit: OHHH, we lost ten points already... :(
got my new custom pot in so give me a little bit of time to start hitting hard :D
xoqolatl
3rd place on the team and ready to take 2nd place
:clap::clap::clap:
you're on your way to numero uno
awesome work man..
Thanks guys
I hope that will bring back some enthusiasm to our team. We lost most of it when people went to Pure, let's show them we can still hit hard.
xoqolatl
GOOD WORK man!
xoqolatl: Don't forget to run Pifast! You can get more boints with your 5ghz i7 975 with that!
I think I owe you an explanation here: that i7-975 is not mine, it's a review sample. We are benching it together with Yotomeczek, and he's doing the 2D benches - I won't submit anything because of hardware sharing policy.
UPDATE: Thanks to loonym's and jcool's invaluable tips I was able to improve my PCMark05 score to 27 944 points (18th global place!)
http://hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=919030
Wouldn't have done it without your advice guys
awesome run xoqolatl
tweaking is excellent
and you're 2nd on the team:up:
Nice work!
You mean we can share hardware if it's not within the same team? He could submit all my second best 3D results and have almost the same point count  :shakes:
I'm trying to convert him for almost a year, give me just a bit more time :D
I'm glad you got me right now. :)
By the way, we have a new contributor: lalPOOO posted some scores today!
And \/ENDE][A posted a ton of scores!
Are there any requirements to join your team? My current situation isn't working out so great and I'd love to bench with you guys :D
welcome to team.xs

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease do some single card runs, you will get some points for it and we're only 13 points behind United Team of Poland! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
And we have a new contributor too. AceBaran posted a 1M score today.
Great results guys, well I have no option but to jump into Ln2.
Quick question: where do you guys store LN2 for at least 1 day when you don't have a dewar?
Seems some points and multiple cups were awarded back to me after something was taken care of.
Dan you know what i'm referring to.
 To HWBOT admins trying to keep it clean.
I'm going to post it here so more people can see it:
My worlds 18th score was flagged - it requires a valid ORB link, which I cannot provide without having a PCMark key. So if anyone have a spare key form a motherboard bundle or some contest, I'd be obliged if you gave it to me. I can give you a 3DMark Vantage key in return.
I just learned that even having a key won't help... I used PCMark with press sample key that was registered long ago and is tied to our former reviewer's account. I would have to use his ORB account, and he forgot his login info :(
We just passed United Team of Poland! Next stop: Jmax-Hardware :D

**** i finally got the armaflex insulation for my cheap pot...hopefully i get less condensation....its all setup i just need to chop some dice :) early morning benching ....:)
Yeah, only 1000 points to go! That's the spirit!
Let's get back into Top 10! :D
Here is a screen of the results that made it possible! ( Taken today, 1 a.m. )

I'm at home currently, and working on my bench setup at the moment. I have received some memory with D9GTR chips, installed them, system didn't want to post. I tried clearing CMOS, taking out the battery etc. I was really mad something might be defective, but when I installed a stick of my Dominator GT kit, the system booted. I lowered clocks and increased voltage, and reinstalled the D9GTRs, now I'm facing an even weirder problem. The system boots and loads Windows fine, but whenever I want to access to access BIOS I just see a blinking "-", as if it was looking for drives. Any help?
Still not working. I'm running only one stick now, at DDR3-1066 CL8 @ 1.70V....
Edit: Just saw it:
Thanks! :) Can I request an Aquamark run now? :D
i7 at >4.8GHz plus 3 5870s should score more than 350k.... hehe
Congrats to you xoqolatl for holding 965 BE 32M record at the bot!
Hey guys, I'm deciding on a dewar purchase. What do you think:
1. A 10 liter dewar is good for how many benches?
Should I go with 20 liters?
Thanks!
finally found the right insulation...lol armaflex from home depot..
4hrs benching...almost negligible frost build up

Jor3lBR: 10 l of LN2 is good for max. 2-3 hours of benching a Phenom II or a little longer for Core i7.
Hondacity: Don't care about frost on the top of your container - watch out for water and frost on the motherboard, especially on the underside.
+1 conformal and frost covered mobos ftw.
Here's what you can get away with ;) who needs insulation.....

Thanks xogolatl I think that's enough for starters, the problem with big dewars is that you need a discharge valve that costs twice it's price to pump the ln2 out.
I use liquid electrical tape underneath the kneaded eraser just to be safe.

Hi all
I want to get more into benching, done some before but nothing worth mentioning..
Dont know much about it but bare with me im willing to learn..
My name is Baran, 40 years of age, i work as a inspector for a engineers office and live in the netherlands !
Cu
welcome to the team...
hwbot.org has all the basics...they have the rules for benching..proper screenshots and downloads...
i suggest starting with the cpu benching..i see you're good with ram timings...
edit
WOW You have 3d power :D
3dmark vantage...disable physx and run ht on...
3dmark 06
3dmark 05..make sure you disable cpu test....
Hey tnx Hondacity
I ran vantage and 2006 in sli, i scored 26k in 3Dmark06 but didnt get any points tho :/
Before i had 2 cards i scored 23k in vantage with single card..
now ive disabled sli and i scored 13k, how can this be ? does anyone know what im doing wrong ?
Also no points for cpu-z
Gonna try 2005 now
3dmark06 requires better cpu speeds...can you try 4.4ghz ht off on your cpu? 4.5ghz ht off might also be doable..on your cpu...
also follow right screen shots...cpuz cputab..cpuz memory tab, gpuz , 3dmark score..and subtests.. and resolution of display.. check my profile and some other members too...
Ok will do tnx alot !
Hey Guys!
Just got a Taylor Wharton 10XT dewar for storage and a small wide mouth Supairco 2 Liter Metal Dewar for pouring. The Taylor Wharton was $149 and the Supairco for $100 on fleeBay :bday2:
The 10XT is from the extended time refrigerators series for maximum holding times and sells for $350 on eBay, so I guess I got a bargain.

*Guess I'll have to postpone my Thanksgiving trip now (wife going to murder me).
isnt 10L on the small side? i received a 15L and i want to buy another 15. although ofcourse it depends on what your all going to do, just cpu for a few hours might be plenty, but you cant fill an afternoon with 10L i suppose?
See, you're not yet xtreme enough. The correct sentence would be "I need ln2". :p:
On the weekend I wanted to bench for the HWBot Country CUP, but my 965 BE must be the worst Phenom II ever made. It started when I couldn't run my D9GTR, my D9JNL were not yet at my house, and flashing another BIOS made the stability with my Dominator GT even worse. Clocks that were stable before on CPU and NB crashed almost instantly when I ran 32M. In the end I achieved nothing but this worthless validation. I hope you all had a better weekend!
I see that you're running your RAM at 7-7-7-20, did you test for the max clocks with tRCD at 8?
Have fun and enjoy your stay at XS!
Could've been worse, such things happen when you have to get things done in a hurry.Quote:
Sorry for your bummer weekend :/
I set up the system, flashed the BIOS, installed XP, changed memory about 6 times, memtested and tried to run some benches in about 5 hours. Not good.
OMG! Wanna trade houses?Quote:
Yes it is just for cpu benching. 10l + 2l = 3 - 3 1/2 hours of fun I guess. Airgas is almost my neighbor so getting refills there is a quick 5min.
I'm posting to give notice of my presence in the XS HWBOT team! I've been on XS a while under the alias of TRG, but I've registered on HWBOT under _Datura_.
I've got a lot of experience with computer hardware, and I'm not scared of electronics or physics because I have a bachelor in electronic engineering and a master in biomedical engineering. I've started with extreme overclocking 2 years ago. First I made a LN2/Dry Ice pot of copper (see profile pic), and tested it two times with dry ice and one time with LN2. It was fun, but I didn't liked the slow learning proces because it was too much hassle to get the cooling stuff and organize OC days. To increase my extreme OC experience I bought a SS with a :banana::banana::banana:load of P!!! stuff (12 mobos, 150 CPU's, 4 KG of RAM). I've started with this P!!! project 2 months ago, and the first results are appearing on HWBOT. So far the learning proces is much better, and I'm learning lots about voltmods and software tweaks. The best is that the hardware is very cheap (all together around 300 euro), so I'm not afraid of killing stuff, and the first RAMs, CPU's and mobos have died over the past weeks :). When I'm finished with this set of hardware, I will consider myself much more into extreme overclocking, and then I will be ready for some more LN2/ Dry Ice events. But for the moment I'm very happy with my SS (but looking for a second).
My next project at the moment is the development of a watercooled 120W TEC setup for my single sided SDRAM sticks. I'm having lots of trouble with getting reasonable SDRAM speeds. 185 MHz at 1:1 divider is my best at the moment. So if anybody can help me (with PC150/PC166 or +200 MHz sticks), then PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Okay, that was me. I'll drop by time by time :)
Nice to have you with us! :welcome:
Team XS turn into a European team step by step. :D
I have an old Asus CUSL2-C moatherboard that I got for very little money on ebay, is it any good for benching old stuff?
I got some memory with it too, I'll check what it is when I'm at home.
@ thijs: Great work on your 5770!
Thanks! Intention was to do a few more benchmarks, but i was kind of to sleepy to think properly @ 4.30 in the morning, so just warmed her up with a few cpu runs @ 06, and went to bed :D. really want to push it once more on LN2, actually trying to get one of those 3570's in the online deals section, but i need to sell some stuff ( W3540 + dewar ) first, oh well, we'll see!
It is quite good, but the TUSL2-C is better because it also supports up to 1.4 GHz cpu's. I already got a pile of CUSL2-C's and TUSL2-C's. Luckfully they are easy to find on ebay :)Quote:

I REALLY NEED FAST MEMORY! I've been searching the internet for the last month, and it seems impossible to find anything with OC characteristics. Best results have been achieved with PC150 and PC166 sticks, but nobody makes those anymore and they are not wel respresented in the second-hand circuit :(Quote:

Question: With my Vcore voltmod I have increased the maximum Vcore from around 1.8 to 2.1. But for example GraduS is achieving voltages up to 3.0 volts. He said to me he is using the power from another motherboard for that. Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve such a setup? Or any others ways to just cranck up the voltage? I was planning to just connect a DC power source to the Vcore circuitry this weekend, but I can find little information on this subject..
Well I have been quiet for a few weeks now. Time to kick things into gear a little don't you think :D
If my body can hack it I should be going 72 hours straight friday to sunday
Nice plan
What's on the plate this time? RB-C3 + four gpus?
4 gpu's yes, four slots no, 5xxx series maybe :p: :D C3 yes, reviews over time to take the gloves off.
Got a bunch of cards to bench actually, really need to get on the ball, I have skipped benching single card for way to long and need to reinforce or rebench a variety of multicard.
Made my first custom sig for HWBot...
Feel free to give suggestions or use it! :)
can you make the xs red to make it stand out? :D
Tomorrow I'll mess with that...
I'm tired... :p:
Do you guys know if there is any difference in efficiency (more points) between running PCMark05 and Vantage using a E8600 @ 5000mh or a Q9650 @ 5000Mhz?
There is. Several sub-tests scale with thread count (I checked up to 16 threads :D)
These guys pushed us over 7500 points!

\/ENDE][A is pushing 2 3850 X2s, and TheGoat Eater is collecting his first i5 experience.
Cool - just trying to get back over 200 myself lol been a while :S
I can't wait for dual core 1156 chips as I hate this platform but looks promising for the low end stuff coming around the corner - burnt out on i5... anyone want to buy a i5 LOL :p:
I long for my W3570 to get here again
Would be pushing a lot harder but, having a load of trouble with 01 and AQ3. Performance is real low on both and i cant work out why. Is there a problem with these on vista? Got an MF3 and I7 860 on root so i might wait for them to try again. I wanted a Classified but i cant find one anywhere:(
BlackOps has been very frustrating, cant get above 470Fsb no matter what i try. Been through every bios and nothing seems to change.
Vendetta - I sent you an essential tweak for AM3.
Dont think thats the problem here. I have sigle card scores way in excess of his. My problem started when i went from xp to vista and crossfire. In single card i was slightly down on my scores which i expected to see. When i went to crossfire im getting scores about a third of what i should for what im running. For instance AM3 single card was 300k now with crossfire 120k. Only 01 and AM3 doing this, something aint right. Xoqolatl`s tweak helped loads(thanks for that man, much appreciated). Mems i`m running Ripjaws 2000C9, i think there fast enough. Something else is causing this. Gonna Switch back to XP and see what happens.
No problem, I'm glad to hear it helped :)
Almost time for a boost in points, think 170+ k 03 ;)
Valid at 6866 on LN2 is just
Nice start, go for 7 GHz :D
Hey guys,
I dont understand the rewarded points system..
How come i didnt get any points for my 3Dmark06 result ?
http://hwbot.org/compare.do?resultId=924172
Push your CPU to 4.5ghz and you will get boints for your score. <-- that wil never happen on air, well not with my bummer cpu :)
Waiting for my xmas bonus to go H20
But am pushing to get 4.3 stable atm
Tnx for explaining
