That Mod is amazing!!! Nothing else to say :)
always love it that Charles would answer each question posted.
Amazing mod. I really admire the effort and dedication put into refining the details.
in the b00t3y ROFL :D
this is one of the sexiest builds i've ever seen. good job dude!
Hey Daniel!
By now you're on your way back home I imagine... I'm really looking forward to seeing some pics of your trip! :)
That's a great idea! Bit late for Daniel's build but perhaps something for the future... cheers! :)
Thank you Sir! :)
Cheers emoners; I try. :)
Thank you Kozato. :)
b00t3y... LOL... :ROTF:
Cheers Rumpus01! :)
Guys, I'm working on the wallpapers. Do they need frames and such? What size should they be? I'm so bad at this stuff... If anyone wants to take the pics and make a nice presentation with the logo and blood drips that would be awesome! Please PM me if you're interested; cheers! :)
As 3DGameMan would've put it.
This is one 100% KICKASS product!
Cheers Laine! :)
Thanks to those who offered to create the Wallpapers! The Master graphics and concept Renderd00d Metric has now got the images and is working his magic. I'm looking forward to seeing what he comes up with. :)
I waved off the shipping and logistics company I was going to go with because I stated getting a bad vibe from them and ultimately lost confidence. Through the experience of having things made, I think I'm getting better at detecting bull$hit and things were starting to smell with those guys. The company I'm now dealing with make their business handling the logistics and transport of works of art and rare antiques - bottom line, irreplaceable stuffs. I'm really not counting on insurance... I'm looking for short of "acts of God" guarantees. After CD's horrific shipping experience with Milspec (which gave me nightmares), I'm attempting to do my best to ensure there are no weak links in this process.
The plan is to have the machine sent out to Daniel this week. I will of course document the documentables. :)
Good move switching companies. If they ruin this thing, I will fly over to their central office and massacre them. [Said in a Tom Cruise, Tropic Thunder style.]
Looking forward to your "package" system Charles, the system should be fine ;)
Err....that first sentence came out a bit wrong.
The quality is amazing! Those SSD lights are simply amazing...they really make the build! Thanks so much for sharing all these pictures! It's quite insipring actually!
Mike
haha, great movie!
These guys are AWESOME Mate, I'm really feeling good about this part of the process! :)
hehe, cheers James. :)
Thank you Mike!
It's been an absolute pleasure - I'm really glad to hear you've enjoyed it. :)
Project Update: Whelp, the machine is now out of my hands… bit of a bitter sweet moment really.
The crate is on its way to the Vancouver Airport as we speak and will be flying out, direct to Frankfurt Saturday. From there, it will clear customs through the broker and be delivered to Daniel on Tuesday. That’s the plan anyway.
I’ve done everything in my power to assure that the machine arrives intact and ready to run. I’ve even gone to the lengths of soliciting the help of special celebrity… more on that later. I will showcase the crate process and forgo the packing of the machine within its case - I will let Daniel explain that from his end. I will say that it will likely take him a few hours to get all the material out… sorry Daniel… better to be safe than sorry my friend! :)
Ohtay, here we go… with the phenomenal help from Scott at Denbigh Design, I’m sitting here as confident as a person can be under the circumstances. I may get even some sleep this weekend. Scott answered all fifty thousand of my questions and is without question an absolute PRO – thank you Scott!
Daniel, meet your new murderCrate ~

The soft foam will slide out for easy removal of the inner box.
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/04.mb008.9381.jpg
The murderCrate has handles built in but is intended to be moved by forklift/palate cart. The thing weighs a ton. The handles are really on there for convenience in shifting the crate into position.
Oh, who’s this now… Zen Frog - is that you? Where do you think you’re going?
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/05.mb008.9402.jpg
Yes, of course… you must go to ensure safe transport of Daniel’s machine. Sit tight now, we will make a spot for you later.
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/06.mb008.9412.jpg
“King of the World…” Oh boy, I’ve freakin’ lost it.
Let’s get back to business…
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/07.mb008.9424.jpg
Here, Scott and Luke do final preparations on the inner box.
Next, it’s time to load the box into the crate.

http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/09.mb008.9432.jpg
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/10.mb008.9442.jpg
Perfect fit!
“What’s that” say’s Luke; "a space for what?"
“A Zen Frog” I says... “he’s gotta go to make sure the machine arrives safely”.
“Uhh… ok…” say’s Luke as he slowly backs away...
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/11.mb008.9448.jpg
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/12.mb008.9453.jpg
“Make sure you cut it deep enough… we don’t want his face chaffing on the lid”
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/13.mb008.9468.jpg
That’s the stuff!
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/14.mb008.9471.jpg
“Take good care if it Zen Frog!” Ok, that was too much.
Now it’s time to seal ‘er up! :)
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/15.mb008.9480.jpg
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/16.mb008.9488.jpg
…and some sanding of the corners to reduce drag…
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/17.mb008.9503.jpg
Presto! Uno murderCrate!
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/18.mb008.9508.jpg
This is cool - it’s a shock sensor. Don’t know what we do if it’s triggered really but I like the idea. Perhaps someone should make one that in the event someone drops the crate and sets it off, a stink cloud is released and gasses the dood what dropped the thing. I know… dumb.
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/19.mb008.9511.jpg
http://www.murderbox.com/uploads/20.mb008.9514.jpg
Next stop, Frankfurt Germany! The labels are just for double checking... this stuff is all done with barcodes and scanners now.
Almost there Daniel! :yepp:
Nice work with the packing charles, mind telling us what the end cost was for the crate and shipping? just want to gauge as I have contacts at the local museum who can give me the info of their shipper ;)
wow... great care of the product there Charles!
btw, what's the freight for something like that?
is it by air or ocean?
Uber-best!
Cheers Ian. :)
Since this is a business, I'm going to have to keep the numbers between my customer and I Mate - hope you understand.
Cheers Albert! :)
Its going by air :yepp:
Cheers Nils! :)
Niiiiice! It's finally coming!
Well, my two little helpers can't wait to meet the lucky Zen Frog:
http://dse.homedns.org/img_0514small.jpg
But wait! What are they doing there?!
http://dse.homedns.org/img_0518small.jpg
Looks like they're unpacking something!
http://dse.homedns.org/img_0520small.jpg
Oh yeah, they're getting a little training unpacking the display until its daddy arrives!
Don't worry Charles, my two little helpers with glowing yellow eyes will take good care of Zen 'The Lucky' Frog, until he'll be on his way back to his master, of course :D.
I laughed to tears when I saw them carving a little spot for him :ROTF:.
D.
guys can't stop laughing :ROTF:
I really hope that it gets to you without a scratch ......... its a piece of art this build
Holy cow, the zen frog had me laughing quite loud. "No.... he's not going to stick that in the box is he? Oh yes he is."
The two lego guys were just as good.
interesting packaging for an awesome product Charles.
one more red vertical line would've made the crate really a murderbox box :p:

My god, that's something else. Charles, that packaging is *nearly* as impressive as the product itself!
wow. That was just awesome.
I really like the buildup now and can't wait to see it in frankfurt. You know - my best friend lives in frankfurt , I might have to email daniel so I can see this awesomeness in person next time I'm there. ;)
You're lucky it's not going to Sweden, it would arrive upside down and the and the guys at the postoffice would ask you to come and collect 30'000 wooden bits and a shock-sticker.
That would be all thats left if it went via a place called Jönköping.
Hehe I need to make one of them too Charles, to transport my case to the other side of Australia when I move! Care to send some specs for the sizes to me (email). Might be able to make one up for myself...
I don't think it's any better here in Germany. That's why we've gone to all the trouble with the specialized company, the special crate, Zen Frog and all that.
D.
Daniel, congrats again on your new system. You are the man to envy!
Charles, after I finished drooling over the final pics I thought...how is he ever going to get that masterpiece to Germany? I'm really glad to see you figured it out. I don't think it could be more secure in that crate.
True artwork, to match such an amazing computer.
How long will it take to get to Daniel, roughly?
I have visited the airport in Frankfurt today. They are expecting the delivery and their staff is already preparing themselves. A couple of shots:

Jajaja Nice pics.
And maybe they are training so hard to carry one screw for one of your builds jaja.
I cant wait to see your new stuff, the last build was INCREDIBLE.
Aged 5 years in the last 48 hours :P.
After much swearing, sweating and high blood pressure, I has the box! Received it this morning and partially unpacked it to make sure everything is ok, so Charles can get some sleep tonight :).
Final unpacking and pics a bit later when I come back from work.
D.
Woo hoo!! Looking forward to the pics! And congratulations once again!
Oh man! You have to go to work after the arrival of your newborn? That shucks!
Can't wait for the pictures!!!
Awesome, congratulations!!
Same as the rest, looking forward the the unboxing PICS!!!
Woo Can't Wait :)
We need the pics ! ASAP !!! :cheer2:
for real Charles? each MurderMod comes packed with a zen frog? :D
Very very tired and very very happy. Need sleep...
First of all, please ignore my poor photo skills. I won't be able to do justice to this work of art, so have mercy on me :).
Ok, here we go:
Unpacking...

http://dse.homedns.org/img_0582small.jpg

my back hurts but the desk is now loaded! Time to power everything up...
http://dse.homedns.org/img_0605small.jpg
... and success!
http://dse.homedns.org/img_0613small.jpg
and my modest attempt at a night shot.
Hope you liked it, lots of work remains to be done on the software side now, but otherwise I think this worklog is coming to an end...
It's hard to describe the emotions of powering the thing up for the first time, turning on the light panel, then the SSD mount lights, it wass just... magic!
So Charles... respect! :bows:
brain shutting down... must sleep... now...
D.
P.S. My router/provider are acting up again, so if pics won't load, keep trying, the connection is on and off.
Fantastic stuff Daniel - it must feel awesome to finally have this piece of art on your desk so you can marvel at its beauty in person rather than the pics!!
Glad to hear that it turned up with no hassles and that everything was in order! Must be the power of the ZEN frog.
Congrats again and enjoy :toast:
Well, now I can finally exhale… :)
I’m so relieved that the machine is finally safe in its new home. It’s been an awesome journey these past months – Daniel, I thank you for your faith in me and I’m so pleased to hear you’re happy with your murderbox. Without question, a big part of me is in that machine and I will have a hard time letting go, but I know she’s in good hands and will hopefully be enjoyed for years to come.
Daniel, I thank you for the opportunity to create this machine and also for bringing out the best in me. While you enjoy your machine, I hope you sometimes reflect on the process and recall the guy in Canada with the silly little green ceramic frog (I need that back btw) and remember that despite being so far apart geographically, we came together to create something special. I will never forget this experience and feel stronger for having gone through it.
Metric is working on some wallpapers for anyone who may be interested and will post them here when they’re done. I will be working on new projects and of course dreaming of blending shapes, light, and color – and all the while smiling.
Cheers All. :toast:
Next project - Pink MurderMod. :D
absolutely amazing everything from the case to the packaging just beautiful :D
I am still at a loss for words.. I read this whole thread.. Every page. Charles you are a god!
A master piece arrived at its home.
Thanks to Charles and Daniel for this dream journey:clap:
Nice to see this work of art made it to its destination safely...
What monitor is that? Looks very nice.
Holy cow, it was shipped with coolant filled?? That sounds risky.
Pretty great packaging by Charles, that computer might survive the impact of an automotive racing spring.
dsecrieru: I'm terribly jealous of your clean desk + setup. That's what I need...a large, clean desk (and murderbox...)
That's an Eizo SX3031W :yepp:.
Hehe, half hour before that pic was taken it wasn't so clean. Also, all the stuff that was on it is now lying scattered around the living room. All this would have been impossible if my wife and kids were home :D.
Thanks man, you're the best!
D.
congratulations Charles and Daniel! It looks simply stunning and we're glad it made it Frankfurt in one peice.
BTW - can I haz wooden pizza now? (my son has that stove, hehe)
Daniel, you know have a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that will bring so much joy! I'm really overwhelmed by the work Charles has put into this machine, FANTASTIC work (100th time I've said this) on the PC Charles, you're an amazing designer/Fabricator/Master - whatever you want to be named.
Daniel, you're one lucky FREAKING guy!
Congrats both!
Stupid question :) Why only one gpu card has blue led light ?
Hehe, good observation Malik :). Certainly not a stupid question.
The top GPU card blue light was never planned and it actually comes from two micro LEDs on the motherboard, just behind the card. Funny how it fits the whole color scheme and it looks nice too, fading in and out. Just an unexpected bonus :).
D.
So now you must give second card some blue light ;)
Very nice project :)
Congratulations. It's the best of the best of the best :)
Congratulations, Daniel ! The system is just marvellous, a real work of computer art, if i can say so  I sincerely hope that it will serve you well and bring happiness every time you turn it on or simply look at it ;)
http://www.million-dollar-pc.com/
Congrats both Chaz and Daniel!
Another MDPC! Excellent!
Xtreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemeee eeeeee
Brovo, Job well done. I dream of the day U build me a rig charles :D
and, Thank god it arrived safe
Thank you for the comments and words of support Guys. :)
I'm currently basking in the afterglow of successfully completing this project - the MDPC nod is total icing on the cake! I plan to relax during August and hopefully work on some new designs. This past year has been one for the books and I definitely need some time to catch my breath. Anyway, I'm going to dial it down for a bit and try to enjoy some of the summer.
I really want to thank you guys for your encouragement and support through this challenging project - some days, it made all the difference. The comradery enjoyed in this community is something very special indeed. We push each other to better ourselves and that's such a good thing. It's through this process that we grow and the challenges we face and conquer make us stronger. Anyway, I've had a glass of wine so I better stop now...
I just want to say thanks and wish you all the best and I hope you enjoy the remainder of your summer. :)
Cheers All. :toast:
No Charles, thank you.
Enjoy your break, we'll be here waiting when you come back with some new ideas up your sleeve!
Charles :)
Big congrats on the build! It's truly an MDPC because it's perfect all around, inside out :) Good that you finally find (or better say ... take) time to relax. That makes me more jealous than anything on earth :D
Stunning worklog, stunning build, stunning future you have!
so you are always beautiful and best pity that it is still the same case:cool:
maybe can now other case with MM parts? ;)
and if there was it would be this imo:
http://www.dvhardware.net/news/lian_li_tyr_pc_x500.jpg
shame it had a wierd interal layout but i guess it has alot of potential.
maybe with the PC-B25B blue ring on the front
That is good case for MM :)
it is a good case for SNiiPE too ;) I think that is the x500 but either the x1000 or x2000 will be my next case
Me too :) sry for OT ;)
Where are the wall papers!
Charles, I followed this build earlier but am just now replying to it.
Truly good work. The care and precision you have in the process of building something is what one can only aspire to. Factory-made stuff isn't as good as what you put out, and that's an accomplishment. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, great work! I loved reading the log.
Here in China they load the parcels all in a huge bag (the size of a car) and lift it with forklifts, then they took it and dropped the whole thing 15 feet into the back of a dump truck. All before my very eyes!
WOW!!! Amazing packaging you did there!!! Hope that the packaging is also very good inside to protect the components! Looks amazing and really well done! ;)
Cheers Mate. :)
We've got a lot of new stuff in the works - I just wish there were more hours in the day!
Thank you Nils. :)
It's a great honor to be on MDPC; among such talented people. :yepp:
Cheers seba. :)
The TJ07 simply suits our current needs. That being said, we are working on other parts for other cases. :yepp:
Indeed! IMHO, the TJ07 is a very special case with lots of capabilities - especially for LC builds! I too think it's the "pimp daddy" of cases. :D
Metric is working on them and should have some available soon. :)
Thank you Xion X2; very nice of you to say. :)
We certainly strive to produce very high quality products. Since its obvious we have no chance of competing with the giant computer companies, our focus is on total attention to detail, craftsmanship, and exclusivity. Our products are clearly not for everyone but we feel pretty comfortable with our place in the niche market. Personally, I can't think of anything else I'd rather be doing. :)
Cheers headala. :)
It's stories like this that keep me up at night and the very reason we put an insane amount of effort into packing, shipping and logistics. It's always the weakest link in the process that bites you in the a$$ so we work very hard to eliminate the weak links. I may goof around with "lucky zen frogs" and the like but that's just for fun and to keep things lighthearted. The fact is, we don't rely on luck for anything - which is not to say we don't welcome any. :)
Cheers D0BR0. :)
The interior of the machine was completely packed with low density polyethylene foam - all cut and inserted by hand. Took poor Daniel hours to get it all out!
Great job on the build Charles! Sandwich?
Yeah... all that packaging just for... one flight haha. But what a flight. ;)
Hey, congratulations for this another piece of art made by you.
You just keep raising the level, and I can tell it isn't good for my wallet:p:.
Selim from Belgium;)
Cheers. :)
Sandwich... sure! I've never been one to turn away free food. ;)
Aye... the crate was actually destroyed which seems a real shame. Would have been more to ship it back than just make another. Anyway, I'm just glad it did its job. :)
Cheers Selim - very kind of you to say Mate!
Well, this better be my last post of the night... my end of the week glass of wine is starting to kick in and any further posts/comments will likely be regretted.
So I'll just say - have a great weekend Guys! :)
I have just spent 30 mins flicking through this thread and have just realised that my mouth has been hanging open all the way through and pool of saliva has congealed on my desk underneath my chin! *wipes saliva away from mouth*
That build is sublime, simply sublime.
Hello everyone.
Sorry for the delay, these should have been done a week or so earlier, but work and school seemed to have caught me off-guard. Better late than never :)
https://dl.getdropbox.com/u/2028/Mur...paper_link.jpg
Beautiful build and beautiful pics. Congrats. This is now my desktop pic...
Metrics - thanks for sharing and posting these...
Holy balls Metric. Those are amazing wallpapers. Great job!
