yes i'm able to boot at 455Mhz from 266Mhz.
But i can boot higher (max 480) if i set 455 or more before.
I hope you understand :)
I think i understand.
From stock (266) you cant directly boot at 480, but you can boot at 455. And if you change from 455 to 480, you can still boot yes?
455/470/475/478/480
476 can cold boot easy when system is stopped normally. I've not tested 478 yet :D
Seems like DS3 is the best deal for now

yeah i am not certain that DS3 willl boot at 400fsb wiht 9x multi
There is a post in this thread that said it was successful at that setting.Quote:

This board looks like a nice step until I see what Nvidia will do for SLi now that AMD/ATi are in bed together.
See how many NON SLi Boards become SLi boards with a simple driver update ;)
sweet.

Is everyone on the F3 BIOS?
yep on F3 now after a few days on F1Quote:

just ordered my DS4 here, hope it performs well
it brings me into a dilemma of which heatsink to use, I think Golden Orb 2 / Blue Orb 2 are better since they blow air to PWM and NB, not like other heatpipe ones blow norizontally
The stock cooler is too laud can't stand with it more than a day
and the big typhoon is.... dangerous regard to its crappy backplate
Use a coolermaster hyper48... if you disable fan control its really efficient... my overclocked celeron was running at 21 degrees idle and the NB was really cool as well
Anyone used the Arctic cooling chipset cooler? would it be better than the passive Zalman flower chipset cooler

when you flashed the bios from F1 to F3, did you update for the F3 instantly, or flashed to F2 then F3 ?Quote:

you erase and re-flash the chip. So there is no problem going from a version to another.Quote:

What RAM should I buy for $200 or less to go on my DS3?
I was going to go with this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231073
( G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model F2-6400PHU2-2GBZX - Retail
)
But can anybody confirm if this will work?
I want a silent pc, im trying to get rid of fans not add any more!! (crosses out ds3 off mobo list)
Spend a bit extra and get this:Quote:

the E6400 current run with 2.13Ghz @ 1.00v Vcore!
What memory are you using?Quote:

My other problem is that my marvelous:rolleyes: OCZ gold is not picking up the right timings. I have it set to 5-5-5-12 in the BIOS, but CPU-Z reads CAS as 3.0. I actually couldnt POST with the OCZ originally because the voltage was too low by default. I had to use my friend's mushkin to get into my BIOS and boost it by .2V... shoulda stuck with mushkin/corsair i think :-\

can everyone with c2d processor post ur voltage for processor, chipset & fsb to reach certain speed?
that will be a great help for newbie people like me :D thx!!

New system build with this mobo. The chipset does get very hot but no problems getting to 400FSB and then it drops back to 6x multi for me with F2 bios. I was not able to boot past 400 FSB and keep 9x
I will try out F3.
A serious need for dual GPU card on this rig.
i've got a small 80mm fan over the RAM and blows over the chipset as described before........Lestat was doubting it's effectiveness however it makes it run fairly cool
temp measured during load
21C ambient
35.5C chipset heatsink.....thermal probe on a few spots until warmest temp found........luke warm to touch.......so that's all you really need TT BT helps a bit too but the fan was only spinning at 650RPM
as described in my post a couple of pages back

My system is going to be;
Gigabyte DS3
Lian Li 7B Case
Antec TP 550W 2.0 PSU
2GB of G.Skill DDR2800 HZ 4-4-4-12
E6600 C2D
Ninja Cooler
X800XL for now
Creative X-Fi XM
WD HDD KS2500 250GB
LiteOn Lightscribe 16X DVD-RW
Lite 52X CD-RW/DVD Combo
Floppy
WinXP Pro
ANother HDD and Mandriver 10 "Must learn Linux".
Not worried about 4GHz but 3.6 would be nice, will be very happy with 3.3 or so. I eve looked at getting an E6400.

Hi, i'd just like to let you know that this board is missing a vital feature, memory dividers which make the ram run slower than the FSB.
Many people on many message boards are not buying this board because of the fact this is missing. Could you add this feature in a future bios update?
Thanks.

my 2GB G.Skill PC2-6400U GBHZ arrived today, now the CPU clock better
http://people.freenet.de/chris070719.../SuperPi-2.jpg
That seems a bit slow, i was getting 24 seconds at 2.4ghz and 22 seconds at 2.6ghz
That was on a e6500.
update...
stable @ 3.6Ghz (bootup @ 450FSB = no problem) :)
http://people.freenet.de/chris070719.../SuperPi-3.jpg
Hey Chri$ch, is that on air? Please say it is so lol. That's exactly what I'm aiming for!
i almost bought the gskill HZ last time but i hold it bcoz i'm afraid it's not compatible with this board..
@Chri$ch, how much u bought that ram n from where?
Can someone remind, whether this board can do the E6600 3.6ghz (9 x 400) boot and is stable?
Unfortunately, I can't get my FSB any higher than 450 MHz stable :(
I can boot at 459-463, but it's not stable. More vCore doesnt help.
What vMCH are you lot using?
What is the max stable FSB then? thx!Quote:

refuses to set the CAS latency to 5, sticks at 3.
Set CAS to 6 and PCI-E speed to 100MHz manually, now no boot. Keeps looping through failed POST.
the best part is that I can't reset the BIOS. Obviously that should fix the problem.... but no....
105MHz for PCIE and it should be ok
same problem here. I set it to 5-5-5-12 but cas latency is set at 3 as wellQuote:

After several hours of tinkering, I can safely say this board has a lot of issues. Even with stock and fail-safe settings I am getting artifacts and lockups. I have tried every pc part used in another computer and they all work perfectly fine. The only difference being the board.
so its been running at 3.6GHz now, had to jumpstart with my friend's mushkin again to get it running.
How do my settings look? anything obvious I'm missing? (why are the PCI express and PCI clocks half of what they should be?)
voltage high or low for this speed?
Gigabyte emailed me back about the ram dividors, they said they will forward my suggestion to the right department.
I guess if we all do it then they will add it to the bios :D

I am a noobie. I bought the DS3 and have a PD 820 OC'd to 3.4 and a WD 2500KS SATA hardrive. Had trouble getting the HDD to work in SATA. I don't think I ever did manage it. I ran the HDTACH and got 55.5 MS search and 169 MB/s read whether I was at IDE in the BIOS or ACHI. Could someone tell me all the BIOS settings to use on the Peripherl page of the bios starting at the top in order to have SATA functional? Thanks
Just a quick screenshot of the Bios of someone using SATA? I'm running XP 64bit. ATI x1900 gt. 2 gig of Corsair xms 5400 c4.
arg, 805@3.6 failed dualprime after 4 hours... vcore up or down? its at 1.325 now
i can confirm it boots every single time at 400mhz FSB 1:1 on the ram
i can do that go back turn all overclocking off go into windows power off. power on set it to 400 right off the bat,,, reboot and she boots right up.
i have not had any cold boot issues either after powering the system down all night long.
ditto at 450 MHz 1:1 for me.Quote:

why cant 920D pass 300fsb ...
here r my settings:
memory 1:3.33
vdimm:+0.3
vmch: +0.2
vfsb: +0.1
FSB: 286
vcore: 1.5875v
can't boot at 4.2GHz ... also when i power down the computer, and tried to trun it on, it can't
but after 3 tiems failure to boot, it load non overclock settings and i can then get into BIOS and load ovberclocked settings then reboot jsut fine
this mobo CANT boot from powered down when u OC...

I've been having this problem as well. Increasing the vmch has stopped it in my case. Now the system boots whenever i restart.
I think the system is telling you something is unstable. Have a play around with some of the settings and maybe try some more vmch as it helped me.
i can boot when i restart, but i cant boot after i power down PSU
restart or changing BIOS n reboot works fine, i jsut cant pwoer on from power down lol i guess
also i have been doing 4Ghz for couple dyas now still. i play games ... dont have any problem at all
