It should be different, 891028 bytes to be exact. It's just the BIOS code without the installer junk. If you burn the ISO, the .bio file on the cd is exactly the same size.Quote:

But they are unlocked up for extreme edition chips (X6800 and QX6700) I thought, just downward unlocking isn't available for any chips. Is this correct?Quote:

How does overclocking the memory work exactly? Kinda new to the whole "frequency/divider" thing.
My Corsairs are DDR2-800 @ 1.9v...but should I leave them as such in the BIOS? Or Drop to 667? Does it depend what my FSB is set at?
Tried some oc attempts.
9x300 for 2700mhz. Raised cpu voltage to 1.3625. This is game stable so far. Gonna do a full Orthos for at least a few hours.
9x334 for 3006mhz. Errored in Orthos after 22secs at stock voltage. Raised a bit. Then Errored after 3:45.
Northbridge heatsink feeling a little hot. So I think I won't bother with that anymore till I get a fan for it. Anyone got any recommendations on that?
Thanks.
What kind of RAM are you running? Not familiar with Team Xtreem, hehe. Also, what vmch are you running?Quote:

I use VMWare constantly so I was a bit pissed about having to disable one of the technologies that was a serious driving force behind me switching to Intel from AMD.
Nice to know I can turn it back on now lol.
Update on my overclocking situation: I got a crappy E6300. This thing will not POST at 3GHz whether in my machine or my friend's DS3 (and he's got a lot more Intel experience than I do). Figures out of all the possibilities, I'd get a weak overclocker.
Doesn't really matter though. This board is a lot more stable than the DQ6 was, it has compatibility, and honestly I really don't *NEED* more than the 2.8GHz I'm running it on 24/7, I just *WANT* it.
Its still kind of a bummer in a way because I'm running like 1.275 volts to the processor and its totally stable. It sucks to be teased into thinking it could go higher.
See the calculator in my sig.Quote:

Team Xtreem is excellent memory and I've had them all pretty much. OCZ, Mushkin, Corsair etc and this stuff is consistently the best. Vmch is at the default. In fact all of my voltages are at default except for the memory. Here are my specs for an everyday quiet and fast machine:Quote:

Hm, what's default vmch again? I forgot, lol.
My memory errors in memtest86+ if I run anything less than 1.65 vmch. Can't get four sticks to run stable for the life of me...

Not built in to vista but the package on Intel's site works fine for 32-bit vista.Quote:

I still havent been able to isolate the cause of my keyboard (G15) disconnecting and powering off for a short time, then starting back up and I get the reinstall beeps from windows as its being redetected? Might it be a keyboard error or something with the board I havent quite figured out. PCIE Freq has nothing to do with it, and ive reinstalled drivers and such. Its been happening for about a month, although it could be the keyboard, and I have also switched around the port it was plugged into.
Asking again because I may buy this board tonight and I want to be sure...

Correct.Quote:

i can't seem to get crystalcpuid to work properly. i did everything step by step but the mult still stays at 10x...
kinda sucks when you're trying to push mem to the edge with a 10x mult :)
anyone else have directions or tips to get it to work properly?
