Quick question for X-Fi owners:
Which PCI slot did you use? I'd prefer the bottom one (since it is further from the GPU), but am also wondering if anyone has experienced issues to be aware of regarding the X-Fi Extreme Gamer and which PCI slot is utilized.

hey guys. i got an extra fattie d9dqw 1gb stick so now im running 2*1gb in dual channel.
but that move took away ~15MHz of my max FSB. with one stick I have 455FSB benchable, but now 440FSB benchable. is this normal?
although there is a chance that the new stick is not an OC-ing animal, but that chance i will exclude tomorrow, I sure do hope so.
Running mine in the uppermost slot, still plenty of space for me with only one graphics cardQuote:

bios and save it to a file which you can use to flash your 8800GTS with.
SO thats what I did, I dumps my bios, made some mods to its flashed it
and TADA :banana: NO MORE FREEZES. Infact I went one step further.
I went onto XFX's website to see what they stable overclocks with the 8800
is and used those setting in my flash. Ive been testing this bios for hours now.
3D Mark 03' 05' 06', Quake III,IV, Battlefield II,2142, and a few other games
and utilities, including NVidia's own Ntune. Everythning came back with flying
colors.
If any one wants a copy of this file here it is.
But please remember that you have to know what you are doing when flashing
anything, and if you mess up, you could void your warranty. This file has only
been tested by myself (Not an expert) on the 8800GTS 320Meg.
Inside the ZIP files you will fine the folloing:
My custom bios - 8800GTS.rom
NVflash Util - nvflash.exe
This a a dos based command utils, that will work in XP 32bit and 64 Bit.
Not sure about vista, havent tried.

I have xfi xtrememusic PCI on the last pci slot (further from the gpu) and no problem at all in XP. In vista i got some random bluescreen like irql_not_less_or_equal witch can be relied to bad driver with the soundcard but no i dont think the last pci-slot can cause more problem...

Hello all.
I am having issues with my new setup. CPUZ reading 1600mhz with a few blips of 2400mhz. Disabling EIST didnt fix this.
Tried a slight overclock by bumping the FSB to 300...got an error saying the BIOS failed to post and it basically forced me back in to change it back.
Running the latest BIOS 2618. I guess the older 2333 is better for most people?
Also, are you all still getting the Marvell screen crap? I thought this was suppose to have been fixed already.

There's nothing to disable MARVELL anywhere. Closest thing would be the 2ndary SATA controller I guess, but I thought when people disabled that...that their HDD LED would constantly be lit or something.

Seconday SATA is the Marvell and the hdd light problem was fixed a few bios releases ago.
The multiplier changing on it's own is an EIST bug. Not being able to go over 300 is a result of the extraordinarily unhelpful Watchdog being enabled. You have to put the jumper in maintenance mode to get to the setting.
Alright. Running the 2333 BIOS now. Flipped to 300fsb no problem, although the bootup seemed a lot slower. Hopefully that was a onetime thing.
Anything else I should disable besides 2ndary RAID and Watchdog via Maint Mode?
For you Antec P180 guys hanging in this thread...a little update on the watercooling the XBX2 project I yapped about earlier. I already have a Laing D5 and D-TEK FuZion. I was going to do the Thermochill PA160 route, but after finding none available anywhere...and some more thought...2 120 radiators are getting crammed in my P180. More cooling capacity for cheaper with less mods. One stuffed at the front fan, one hanging off the rear fan, all internal. Kind of a hybrid of the Swiftech modded P180 and the PA160 mod for these cases. You will have to remove the upper HD housing as seen here. Using 2 CoolRad 12T's with shrouds, everything looks like it will fit just fine. Here comes 3.7+ GHz :D

well i am having a dilemma, i have the Bad Axe 2 board and an ASUS P5N32-E i have enough components to build two systems (- PSU and Ram for one system),
cpu's are E6600 on both
i am currently running the P5N32-E at 475*8 4:5 divider , ram at 1200 and is running great with one issue VMWARE keeps freezing on me unless i disable the onboard lan and use another independent NIC i also have to uninstall nvenetfd.sys and also raid i believe to be faster on the bad axe
i have two wd raptors 36g and two wd sata 160g
on the asus i am running 2 BFG 7600 GT OC on the bad axe i will run one single EVGA 7600 Gt OC (i am not a gamer tho)
i know i can get the bad axe to 3600 without issues, my cpu likes volts so anything over than that i have to mod. i am running one of my cases with a swiftech water kit.
i end up like this after upgrading a few systems for friends over christmas so i will like to sell one system
i am incline to keep the bad axe 2 with the wc kit and corsair dominator 8500 c5d and the raptors
as the asus is based on 680i and maybe not as stable as the intel
any susgestions? and thanks
Anybody notice that the new bios file, if you use the bios recovery method, is a different size than all the others?? I use the BIO.recovery method, cause its easier for me on XP-64, but have tried in vain 4 times to flash the newest bios. I finially noticed that it is a differnt file size than all the others, could this be the issue?? :confused:
