Its certainly a strange problem, the reason I think its heat related is because @ 2.9GHz I can finish Super Pi 32M on the weaker core, #1 (core #0 easy) but Super Pi does not generate max heat

using PRIME95 v24.14 small FTTs @ 2.9GHz core #0 can run all day but no matter the Vcore or settings core #1 only runs for 5 ~ 10 mins max :(

Thats why I think my problem is heat related as PRIME95 generates much more heat than Super Pi

Any Ideas anyone :)

lolz, my opty165 is too good that my Giga's board HTT can't fulfill it!!

300MHz*9 isn't the max. for my OP165 at default voltage with the Giga board.

I need to buy a DFI LanParty to reach higher HTT and find out the max. of my opty165 at default voltage, may be 2.8GHz?? God knows.

For 2.8GHz I am using 1.475 + 102.4 that shows as 1.51Vcore in bios and 1.488Vcore in windoz CPU-Z

For 2.9GHz I need 1.475 + 104.8 = 1.54Vcore in bios and 1.52Vcore in windoz

Nope it has the stock cooler. Which one should I buy? Thanks :) anyway, I don't think it's a temp problem. It doesn't pass 48ºC priming (well now its winter, we'll see this summer with 40c outside :D )

300HTT x 9, 2.7 @ Default vCore + 104% VID on SS.

Dual SP2004 stable.

Will not for the life of me boot past 300HTT, 301 hangs before Windows loading screen.

Suggestions?

Finally! My 0550UPMW 165 arrived today!
Packed by a dumbass but I got it up and running. About 20 pins were bent :stick:
2.6GHz dual prime ran for an hour at stock VCore so that was :D
Then the "problems" began. Core 1 is a killer. Ran 20min prime @ 2.8GHz stock voltage. But core 0 craps out at 2.65GHz. Now running dual prime @ 1.52V and 2.8GHz... So far so good. :toast:

BTW, IHS is still on and max temp I've seen is 43°C with watercooling. Not bad, is it?

stock is running at 1,300rpm, I got a Delta running at 2,000rpm for summer:p:

Tried running 310 with an 8x multi, no go :stick: .

I've not tried at default vcore, 'cause I was searching maximum stability, not max frequency for benching.

I can believe that the cpu core 1 has reached its physical limit, so, even without IHS, it could keep crashing. You can try with extreme cooling, but you can have the cold bug problem with it.

well not only did i get my 170 0550 umpw (408) in today, along with my DMM, so i should hopefully have it up and running tonight. i think im going to start it out at 2.6 @ stock voltage and go up from there :p

I have Opty 165 0551 VPMW, she could stable prime at 2,7G with vcore 1.5V.

ok so i just plugged in the 0550, try it at 2.6@1.4v and it fails within a minute

do i need to reinstall anything? reflash my bios? or can i go from one processor to another of the same type?

its running at 2.7@1.5v now

it fails prime within seconds, but i can run superpi and i can bench it (3dmark01, 3dmark03, aquamark 3

any clue?

EDIT: also core 1 fails within a minute running at 2.7g@1.55v in bios

EDIT AGAIN: my pcie card is in the bottom slot, and my ram is in orange. could that be affecting anything
