Testing / comparing : Intel D975XBX2 / Asus P5B DX ***56K WARNING***

still can't update bios
i've remover power and battery
burn *.bio file to cd (havn't floppy - so can't try it) - on second machine =0)
and nothing happen again.
if hdd's plugged in - contiously reboots every 2 sec
if hdd's unplugged - seems like cd reading, sometimes it's reboots, but screen is always black.
and cd is still reading and reboot sometimes.... and that's all............

suppose my mobo just a little broke =) or =((
any ideas ???

i know this may be a different issue.. but when setting up RAID 0, will i need to do the CTL - I during setup of vista to install the drivers... or are you saying that vista already has them & will immediately recognize my raid array set up in the bios?

I've read every thread in here and saw this question come up but it was never answered. I'm buying the XBX2 for my E6600 and going to use the Tuniq Tower 120 and wanted to use HR-05 NB HS. I was wanting to know if it will fit with the 120 Tower or would I be better off getting the HR-05-SLI NB HS? And has anyone tried the SLI one and does it fit with the tower 120?

Thanks. It appears a lot of the issues with the XBX2 are getting ironed out. Solid board with fairly repeatable OC's and performance. :)

I just discovered that my badaxe2 lowers the multi to 6 while idle. how to turn this off? C1E and EIST have been disabled in bios. im not saying i dont like the fact of a more cooler/silent computer, but I want to know how to disable this function for certain situations.

Why are you using the .bio file? That's for a bios recovery. That's the WRONG one in case you go through a bad flash. You need to use either the EB.exe version, IB.exe or the .iso format. Next time read...

I went to Intel website to d/l the raid drivers for Vista into floppy and when installing Vista , I load the raid drivers and it work marvellously well for my system

I just flashed the bios with 2618. Orthos had only run for 1 hour before I declared it is stable. :toast:

One glitch though as before: whenever flashing with new bios, I have to switch the bios jumper to configure mode and correct several settings after hearing 3 beeps indicating memory error.

I think it might be a memory spd problem as shown in the bios error log. :rolleyes:

I think he can't cause his BIOS appears to be borked, not a bad flash.

Sounds like he needs to RMA it.:fact:

No.
I mean I had run Orthos for overnight on previous bios versions. It's only a change of Bios version. So, I think one-hour test enough to validate the stability under new bios.

Heu guys, Just got myself a 8800GTS 320meg, hoping it would get rid of
my ATI no boot problem. Well it did, but boy is my system unstable. Fine
for everything else, but 3Dmark, games and so on, well lets just say I cant
finnish what I start. Going back to 2507 bios and let you guys know how
that turns out.

i can't do nothing !! bios always freezes at EB code, so i can't start from CD, or usb bootable device.
i can only recover bios in recovery more - but this too doesn't work for me.
just black screen and nothing happen.
alreasy sent my problem to intel. maybe they can help me....

Try to disable USB Legacy support in BIOS. If I remember correctly, disable USB Legacy support will skip the EB boot code....

doesn't help
no difference between legasy on and off.
EB FREEZES
also EB appears twice from start.
first passed ok.
freezes at second.

unlocked mults yet with 2618?

I had this same issue with my GTS. When I first built I immediately upgraded to the 97.44 drivers and I got these symptoms (see if they sound familiar) :

1. 3DMark = very slow, horrible scores
2. Guild Wars = Ran OK but slow
3. Nvidia and Adrienne demos = Slide Show Central
4. HL2 = Would start and play intro vids then the menu would come up, for about 2 seconds, then MASSIVE texture corruption.
5. Oblivion = Ran for a little longer then same as HL2
6. Free Dark Messiah = Same as Oblivion

I was ready to RMA the GTS but on a lark did a COMPLETE driver removal (including Riva tuner and NVTune) and installed the drivers on the CD (96.92 I think) and VOILA! I can now run everything at 1600x1200 with all the eye candy on and max in-game settings (HL2 gets high 100's consistently in FRAPS)

I'm currently running the 97.92 drivers and they work well (still like the old Control Panel)

I think I found something in the manual that is confusing. In the manual it states "If you are installing a single PCI Express Graphics card, install it in PCI Express connector 1 (see Figure 19, A) for optimum performance. However, if you are installing two PCI Express Graphics cards, install them in PCI Express connectors 1 and 2 (see Figure 19, B)".

Isn't the topmost PCI connector #1? I think the text above should instead say "If you are installing a single PCI Express Graphics card, install it in PCI Express connector 1 (see Figure 19, B)" and "if you are installing two PCI Express Graphics cards, install them in PCI Express connectors 1 and 2 (see Figure 19, A)."

I think they flipped the two on accident. So again, isn't the topmost PCI connector what you use for a single card (i.e. Diagram B)?

scaryogre, you are right. The top PCI-E slot is the one you should use if you have one video card, because it is x16 PCIE. You can also use the middle slot but that one supports only x8 PCIE.

Well actually I am using the same 97.92 drivers. Havent tried those games
yet, but all my Battlefields (II & 2142) run fine for about 5 mins, then freeze
to a black screen. And the 8800 GTS feels really really hot. The Heat is that
normal? As for 3D mark 06, for some reason it doesnt like the Marvell Raid
controller on BX2, splash screen comes up, then blue screen with some error
about the Marvell 62xx blah blah blah. If i dsable the Marvell Raid, then I can
start 3D Mark 06, but it too after a while, freezes to a black screen. WTF!!!
You think my 8800 is overheating?:caution:

If you are having problems with it, pop the cmos battery, and leave it alone for a few minutes. Put it back in with the jumper in maintenance mode, and go from there.
