On W/C. Using a Zalman 7000Cu Mounting With a Swiftech MCW50 Gpu Block.

Seem That the CPU needs to burn-in. Ran 201x12 on boot and Adjusted the Multi and FSB with EIST and Clock Gen. AGP Lock works above 200FSB. Temp @ 36C in Bios running 2.4Ghz.

muahahaha.... 2850mhz 259fsb 25.7s 1m on a 730 @ 1.45V and 512mb bh-5 @ 3.5v stock cooling :D screenies to follow when i have internet at home...
New retail 740 is here and I'm praying I dont Jinx it... but priming @ 212fsb 2552 (dropped to 12x multi) now... wish me luck... one thing though... DAMN it's running hot. I probably need to clean the old thermal goop (arctic alumina) off my heatsink and reseat it with a completely fresh layer.
EDIT: FINALLY FIN-A-****ing-LY I got this dothan rig above 2500mhz... and it only cost me about $1600 in parts to do it. Definately was the CPU's to blame. They were ALL Dell pulls from, 9300, and possibly all from the same Dell "deal" on 9300's and also possibly all from the same batch (though the last two are just suspicion). So if you're hitting a similar wall... buy new cpu's preferably retail ones... until you get past it. Sadly, that's probably the most economical solution.

740. priming/burning in @ 2900mhz right now. 1.52vcore min so far, but I suspect it will have dipped to 1.5v by the time I get up. Going to bed now. Errored at 26X*11, so I'm at 24X*12 right now. Once I've got a nice burnin, I'll see if I can squeeze some more out of her. I'm hoping I can get a p4gd1 to play with.

Dothans are strange... 1.285 vcore and 2684 mhz and wit 1.6 vcore I can't get a mhz higher... Try'ed everything already.

I spent 5 hours today mounting my old Zalman CNPS 7000cu to my brand new and first dothan.. When I finally got it right I was so happy I almost cried :p: That mounting is a great piece of engineering I tell ya :P Anyways the 740 (packdate 07/08/05 "RH80536 / 868608 / 7522A456") is doing pretty well on my P4C800E-Deluxe..! :D Screenshot below is max achieved today, and was not stable. Now I'm priming at 250*11=2750 MHz at 1,4 V and it's liking it :) The temp while priming is stable at 42 degrees celcius - and that's with the zalmans fan at 60% ;) Totally quiet :D
However my cpu doesn't like FSB over 250 MHz! Why is that?

Including the modding of the ct-479, it took me a whole 30 minutes to remove the stock heat sink and mount the 7000 heatsink. Does work great through!
I just followed the instructions from charlie as he posted them. I read them like 5 times over two nights, looked at the CT-479 and the 7000. Pictured what I should do, etc.
Clips upside-down made it far too high up! One of the reasons it took so long time is probably because I tried several different approaches before I found the lucky formula. I didn't follow any guide. During that time I also biked to a store and bought something I could use as plastic washers.. too bad it didn't work at all using them :p: I also dremeled on the clips to flatten them under to make them fit into the retention frame together with the adapter, just to find out that cooler didn't reach down to them there :P
Also, bhoward I think the orientation is different on the p4p800, and somewhat easier.. :p:

Glad to hear it man... I finally broke 2.5ghz today. Turns out my 730 scales to voltage better than I thought. I thought I had it maxed out at 2.5ghz but today I blew that out of the water by going 294x9 @ 1.45v :D. After I get a better heatsink on this thing I'll put 1.5xv into it and see if I can actually do a 3dmark2k1 run at around 2.6-2.7ghz :)Quote:
