Is it RMA time? Sometimes my ethernet doesn't work and have to unplug the cable and plug it into other port than it picks it up again. It happens in both Linux and Windows and i've updated the drivers from manufacture website.
Second problem is sometimes on a coldboot it says voltage settings are wrong but once I go into bios and punch in the same specs it works flawlessly but couple days from now it would bring back the same error.
My GA-X58A-UD3R is doing the exact same thing (2GB available in windows). The new BIOS update fixed this problem except... now whenever I cold-boot I get a message "Recovering lost DRAM size..." and my PC reboots and then boots normally.
So it looks like instead of actually fixing the issue they just used some lame-ass hack to fix it when it happens. This is totally unacceptable (not to mention the on board Realtek sucks major you know what...) and makes me wish I went with Asus like I usually do...
I haven't overclocked the RAM at all. I have only set the XMP profile to get the RAM to 1600mhz retail specs.
Vdimm doesn't matter so much as QPI/Vtt when it comes to this, are you sure you tried enough QPI/Vtt? Try lower as well, with ram voltage at 1.66, try 1.2-1.45+ (Depending on ram timings/speeds/uncore)
It very well could also be the memory kit itself, I have seen plenty of people RMA and get the same exact kits that work perfectly when they got the new memory back from RMA.
I have also seen PLENTY of people say they do not have bent pins, and be 100% sure of this, yet when I finally got them to post images I would find 2-10+.
So you may want to take some images of your socket as well and let someone have a look just to be sure this isn't part of your issues.
Yeh been through the bent socket before with dinos, everything is sweet.. even tryed reseating a few things over n over still no difference! Its weird though shows 6gb in cpu-z and in bios but in windows only says 4.5gb free really weird.. Ive tryed up to 1.45 vtt with low nb frequency even high and low dimm voltages, im sure its the board..
New beta BIOS:
GA-X58A-UD7 - F7x
- Fix Smart error for SSDs with Sandforce Chip
- 06.Aug 10
Gigabyte latest BIOS
OK, I've tried setting the timings manually and have XMP disabled, I've also given the RAM 1.6-1.66 vDRAM.
The problem still persists, only on cold-boots will it post and say "Recovering lost DRAM size..." and reboot. This stops windows from booting with less than 6GB and is not really a big deal but is still annoying that it posts twice every cold-boot.
I'm using the FB11 BIOS for my GA-X58A-UD3R rev2. I guess I should remove the CPU and check for bent pins. If I find any do I just use tweezers or something to bend them back or should I just take it back to the store?
Any help is appreciated.
I've already tried everything in those posts. I'm not going to bother checking the CPU pins, because if they are bent there is no way I am going to fix them, I shouldn't have to repair a brand new motherboard just because of some manufacturing defects.
I'll just take this back to my local store and pick up a few Mushkin sticks and a Rampage III Gene.
I don't know why I bothered with Gigabyte & G.Skill anyway, should have stuck with my gut feeling. Not only have I been having this problem with this board, but post times are very slow, the on-board RealTek is horrible (static microphone and random cracking sound). Very disappointing.
Thanks for your help though and good day!
1 of course man
rev 2 are letters .. so far only FA hahah
thanks dinos
I want to change my Asus Rampage 2 Extreme by a UD7 for more bclk the max stable on my r2e is 221X19 and max bench at 224.

Some one can tell me if it's possible to have more bclk issue with a UD7 ?
Many Thank's.
Any1 facing the SMART command error with the UD7 Rev2.0 using sandforce based ssd? I've flashed the latest bios but still could not get rid of it :(
Question: I picked up a second Intel X25-M SSD. Is it worth running them in Raid or should I use it for my other rig?
BTW if anyone lives near BestBuy they have these X25 80gb SSD's on sale for 199.99 + you get a 30.00 BestBuy gift card with the purchase.
