I've just upgraded from a PATA hard disk to SATAII hard disk.
Can anyone tell me what settings do i have to set in the bios?
The windows setup don't see any hard disk.I have already loaded the defaults.
Or should i make an driver disk?

Go to the Main BIOS page and find "IDE Configuration" (near the bottom IIRC). You'll find the SATA and RAID settings there. Note that SATA drives can only be Enabled in pairs (1&2 or 3&4) ...

I have enabled just like you said...still no good.
The setup don't find any HDD.Weird...because the bios see it.
i cant get by bios update to 1405 if thats the new beta. i want to use the alt+f2 thing during post. so what do i just copy the bios and not rename it onto the floppy just the bios with out the audfo file thing?
Try using a win 98 boot disk and partitian the drive..Ive had this happen to me and after the partitian windows saw the drive..
Go through fdisk to do this.....
Does anyone have problems with the normal PCI ports??
My tv-card just wont work in this mobo :/
i think heard people talking about the pci slots you can only us the one in the middle of the pci -e slot i dont know but thats what i heard and i use that one for my sound card i have the pcie slots filled with 2 8800 gts
hmm okay ill try that
I have a tv tuner in the middle pci slot and a x-fi in the bottom pci slot. No issues
Well the thing is I also have a x-fi card and it just won't work, windows detects it allright and stuff but I cant install the drivers, it just says that theres no creative product in the machine
even with the original drivers from the cd it just won't work, im just gonna rma it and get another card
I assume you guys disabled the on-board sound and emulators ...?
what how i didnt i dont think i did, under what setting?
i disabled onboard sound
How about the temperatures?Mine goes up to 50*C on load...i've read in this thread that it's kinda bad.
Does anyone tried the Thermalright HR-09 mosfet cooler?
This "sh**t" doesn't look too good.
 Where's the thermal pad??? Even the stock one is better than nothing!
BUT since you've got it off you might consider adding Ceramique to those. ;)
I even took off the heatpipes and added Ceramique to the NB, SB, and westside MOSFETs (under the heatpipe radiator) - it helped a few °C ...
well my mobo stays now at around 34-40 c and im using memory coolers and 2 nivida 8800gts that will soon be watercooled this monday when the waterblocks come i have my cpu watercooled it stays about 43c load and i have the side of my case off and a nice 12in desk fan on high blowing on the video cards so that might help a little LOL
Hi there,
summer time and room temps hit 30C so to keep temps down in my pc I decided not to overvolt the north brigde.
is 282 FSB speed too high for defaults volts in the NB ??? I read some where that the mobo usually does need to overclock NB when over 300 FSB but not below
what do you think guys? Just run orthos and fail after 5m but temps were in the high 50c and sometimes hitting 59C so I wonder if it failed cos of the high temps or just because I set up not overclock NB??
Another thing: is possible to set up MAL in this bios? I don't see the option and my memory like it at 8 (default by bios is 10)
is there a better sound driver for this board?
im using the stock realtek drivers, but when i were headphones i can here feedback when i move the mouse or open programs.
is thera a fix for this?
i have my tv card in the bottom pci slot and wireless card in the middle slot, no problems.
To fix that feedback problem I had to turn off the pc speaker but I can't be sure if that made it totally go away. I know it at least went mostly away but I got tired of light crackling every now and then and overall quality and put a sound card in. It seems a lot of people have that feedback problem with this board.
yeah, your right alot of people put in a seperate sound card.
i did mute everything except the wave and master volume which did help, my speakers are fine its jsut when i put headphones on i can still here thecracking noises.
i wonder if there is a better sound driver than the realtek drivers.
any ideas?
