Hmm, I have 26c at idle at auto volt/no overclocking, with CPU at 1.5, I get in the low 40s at idle..
Is there a recommended max temp/voltage limit if your CPU is at full load for about eight hours a day? I remember with amd64 venice cores it was 50c/1.65v if you wanted to keep it for a year or two, is there something like that for the core 2 duos? A rough estimate before I burn mine to death would be cool. :)
Keep it under 60*C (Core Temp) and you'll be just fine

I have problem with my new P5B deluxe system.
The problem is that when trying to install XP i get a BSOD after the installation files have been copied. The error reads "STOP: 0x0000007b".

WD SATA HDD
ROM IDE unit
Core 2 Duo E6600
Corsair xms2 (4-4-4-12) 800Mhz
So I figure thats the only thing that should be of interest.
I have tried 2 other sata hdd drives and one sata2 drive, same error. I have also tried another DVD rom and a CD-RW ROM (all IDE) same result. I have one pair of the momory and I have tried in in both dual channel banks and single in all slots.
Really, It can't be this hard to install XP on a SATA from an IDE drive can it?
I need help, as I have no idea what to do next.
I have tried everything in BIOS but nothing seems to help.
THe XP installation is XP Pro with SP2, I have also tried XP home with the same result.
Im desperate.

I very much doubt its his corsair giving him problems, its the single most compatible memory for P5B deluxe, built a system with it for my mate and booted flawlessly. Maybe try installing windows with just one stick alternatively, also make sure Jmicron is set to IDE mode and disable all unnecessary crap in bios.Quote:

I have tried installing with one stick. tried each stick in all four slots, no luck. The jmicron is set to IDE and the sata drive is on enhanced ( I have tried combination too).
What unnecessary crap should I desable?
Anyone with these memories that can give me their working BIOS settings?
hi, will the cnps9500 led fit on a p5b deluxe without any problems?
And how you fit 1MB rom on 3.5" floppy disk? cause if i create DOS bootable floppy disk i only got 880KB free, so what now?Quote:

Am I reading this correctly, do you have SATA mode set to enhanced AHCI?? If so are you installing windows with the F6 method and are you loading the proper AHCI drivers from F6flpy32.exe? If not try installing windows with SATA set to pure IDE. Otherwise try my other suggestion above, diff media for your windows XP cd.Quote:

Actually i just copied older bios on diskette, run ez flash by alt + f2 on boot, choosed older bios, reflashed with it and its fine :) no some afudos.Quote:

This Jmicron driver is b0rked IMO.
@Xitar: try doing what i did and Update driver. Select No, not at this time and click Next then select Install from specific location and click next, then select Don’t search. I’ll choose the driver to install (from a list). You will see two options there, “JMicron JMB36x Controller” and “Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller”. Select the later one, “Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller”, click next and allow the Computer to do the rest.
Jmicron driver is not borked in that it isn't a driver meant for IDE devices, that driver's sole purpose is to have raid running from the Jmicron sata's. Xitars problem has nothing to do with drivers but all to do with how Jmicron detects media attached to it. Jmicron just isn't fully compatible with all ATAPI devices and in particular cdrom devices, its as simple as that. If you read my post above you'll see that it is however 110% compatible with ATA133 harddisks(even the slowest 2MB cache of the lot). So if you come back in this thread after you've tried a different cdrom device and you tell me everything works then I will know enough. Then it can only be INCOMPATIBILITY due to badly built jmicron controller. Intel controller is simply flawless, it took a driver update but now its just splendid.
The Jmicron may have been built for Raid, but the fact is that doing that isnt an option on P5B Deluxe, on this board the Jmicron was put there for one reason only: To control IDE drives.
Bad choice of controller from Asus then.
