I'm running two Seagate 1.5TB SATA drives on my IP-35 Pro without a problem, FWIW.
Thanks dstedman, that's what I wanted to hear.
anyone have a working download link (no hassle) for the latest Uguru version?
Utilities
Abit uGuru 3.1X v3.109 for 2000 / XP / XP 64bit / 2003 / 2003 64bit / Vista 32bit / Vista 64bit - 6th May 08
On another forum I had updated the link back in October, I have now updated the original thread on here. :)
Hey, Ace is back!
i just came up for some air...i've been running deep for all this time!:D
He's Aaalliiiiiivee!!!!!
=p
i miss you guys!:)
i'll try to stop in more often...my IP35 Pro is still huming along with a Q9650 in it...my wife has it now and she is being a good custodian of it.;)
i moved on to EVGA X58 760 board with i7-920 and 12 gig's of memory...a mild overclock:p: of 2670@4150 mhz.
I'll be building another rig in about 2 months I hope...not sure what yet.
My IP35-PRO is still strong (knock knock, loooking for wood). Crunching einstein@home for over 2.5 years. Always overclocked.
^ Yep, 2 yr. 8 mo. on mine, with high o/c's all that time on E6600 or E8400. I really can't beef about the IP-35P. It's been a great mobo and I'll use it til it croaks...IF it ever does!
no, it has been a very stable board but i have not really pushed the timings at all since i have all dimm slots filled...voltage control is very good...in fact, the latest bios update has allowed me to squeeze more mhz out of the cpu...i am also using a Gskill 128G SSD drive.
Please help end this discussion at work:
can I use an ATI card with this board or not?
--- thingking of replacing the trusty 8800 GTX with an ATI card (budget $400-450)
No reason you can't use a ATI card as long as it's PCI-e interface.
Thx for the vote, I'm showing to coworker, for example JuliM's HIS Radeon HD3850
I've been using a 4870 for a year now and love it.
Thx for the vote....that should shut this discussion between my coworker.
I'll head on over to the ATI thread to ask for suggestion for a balance card for
my current rig (see sig)
big thx
thanks guys, I'm eyeballing this now:
XFX HD-587A-ZNF9 Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
:up::up:
Yep, I have a 4870 and no issues with it on this mobo.
Wonder if the gtx480 will work fine on this. I really still have no reason to upgrade mobo/cpu since I game only on this machine.
What's wrong with your 4870x2? Would you get that much better FPS from a 480 on that build?
Yes, for games that use it. Not many do.
+1 on the PhysX...unless you really really like watching Batman's cape and that Unreal Tournament Tornado Map....I've read good things about those n PhysX
Hello everybody! First post here.
I own an IP35pro board with an E6700. As i found a used q9550 in a good price, i wonder how my board can handle it.
With a little bit of googling, i found out a lot of people with issues when using this combination. Many of them unsolved, nomatter flashing the mobo with bios18.
What do you think ?
Thank you!
Hi, friends! It's my first post and I have not a good english. I'm trying to install an SSD Patriot in my IP35-Pro without success. Can someone help me with the ON CHIP SATA DEVICE and ON BOARD PCI DEVICE?
Thank you very much.
Elcio
been using this board for two years and w/ an e8400 and loving it. Hope to skip this entire i5/i7 generation!
^ :yepp:
My q9450 is absolutely fine in this board. I can't push it beyond 3520 mhz though. The board can do 450mhz with a x6 multi on the cpu, but I crash into windows at 450.
This is at 1.34 nominal 1.3v measured volts.
Now that this stuff is getting old I'm happier to push it harder. How hard?
hi all. recently formatted hard drive to install win7 x64 on this system about 5 days ago. also swapped out to a GT240 video card. turned it off after checking everything was fine. today, i cannot boot up. I get post code C1 (something about ram). If I reboot, it'll get past that and end up hanging on 4E (something about cpu). I checked ram by removing a stick (2x2gb), moving sticks around, and I'm fairly certain the ram is ok. After all these movements and tests, it usually gets past C1. But I am definitely stuck on 4E. Any ideas how to diagnose this if I can't get past the splash screen? Thanks!
Hoping to catch any fellow DIRT2 player with same board
I recently moved from nVIDIA 8800GTX to ATI Radeon HD 5850, and was wondering if there is a BIOS specifically for ATI to match this board?
I've been having issues with this STEAM-bought DIRT2 for almost a week now.
reinstalled game again, for maybe 4th time now
before reinstalling, I did the following
- turned off anything running in the background (no antivirus, no firewall, no USB attached, no sound)
- defragged C:\ drive (Primary: where my OS is installed)
after reinstalling, I
- checked integrity of download (passed)
- re-enabled sound
- defragged
changes made:
- My Games Folder> Hardware config> audio changed to software & DX9= true
- STEAM>apps>dirt2>systems>hardware config> core8 changed to core2 (since my CPU E8400 per Intel is 2 cores only)
- defragged again
Games for Window Live
- created an offline account
- signed on with offline account
replayed game
- made it to where I create a game profile, I used a default name, game crashed

STEAM and Codemasters is receiving all my emails for Tech Support and, its a rather slow pace. Was hoping to catch an owner of this board with same STEAM-bought DIRT2 game
If you want to try a beta 18 BIOS with update storage controller ROMs, PM me. That's probably the only BIOS-related thing you can try.
Uhmm....Confession time:
I'm a rookie when it comes to this. I'm going to do the flash BIOS via USB with Ace-a-Rue technique.
IMHO, I don't think it really applies to my memory storage, more like a flaky STEAM/GFWL/ATI issue....so if your BIOS applies to those, then sure I'll try it
here we go with the n00b flash questions
-so I did the hp tool w/ USB
- dropped the files needed directly into the drive ( no folder )
- boot priority USB
restart, I get: Disk boot failure, insert system disk ans press enter
what did I skip?
advance thanks
Go back and read the thread.
rather than flash the Bios I'd be disabling this in Control Panel....
Creative Labs Fatal1ty ProGamer
and then seeing if the game crashes.
FIXED!!!!!!!
It was a stuuuupid Games for Window Live update issue. For something I thought was vidcard/soundcard/STEAM/DX9 vs DX11/Core2 vs Core4/Memory Allocation.....it was a stupid G4WL issue.
Just needed to update.:shakes:
I swear, it will be the last G4WL-related game I'll ever buy
Never was a BIOS related. So, no BIOS update for me since:
if not broke, why fix it? applies here
thanks
Glad to hear you fixed it.
I'm just going by the uguru readouts of voltage. They might be wrong of course......
And I haven't done a hardware voltmod.....
Anyway I've been experimenting further, and finding that 63% for CPU GTLref for 0+2 and 1+3 seems to play nice, and have hit 3.6 at 1.37 in bios......
Right then all. Am I pushing to hard here......
Do I have reason to be nervous?? Should I be taking that voltage down.
Stable in intel burn test, which is taking my cores to 70
Edit. Been messing furher with CPU ref and found a borderline unbstable intelburntest point on my OC - which is excellent for testing!!!
Anyway, the long and the short is that
65+65 = 3 passes
66 =4 passes
67 = 2 passes
So I declare 66 my sweet point.
can't find my manual but anyone remember how to enable the eSATA in the BIOS.
I'm trying to enable the two eSATA ports so I can use my Vantec NexStar HD dock
advance thanks
Go to Onboard PCI Device
enable "Storage Controller"=This option enables or disables the JMB363 controller that controls both IDE1 and eSATA1 ports.
then select "Controller Mode" this sets the mode for devices connected through eSATA1 ports.
Ok, the only other thing I see mentioned is about the JMicron SATA Driver:
※This driver provides functionality for the onboard SATA RAID Controller.
※ This driver installation is necessary for the devices connected through
connectors “eSATA1” or “IDE1”.
I sold my IP35 and manual a year ago, but I still have a copy of the PDF manual I downloaded from Abit. I'll upload it for you (3.60mb) http://rapidshare.com/files/389541428/ip35-pro.zip
If you prefer another file host let me know.
thanks new-b, will save manual on file.
any chance this is Win7 related?
will try using USB connection instead also
no dice.....
this time I set to RAID and connected the USB and eSATA
It's not the HD too coz I switched with last know good HD.
maybe time to visit JMICRON or Vantec Tech support.
UPDATE: I'm was adviced by a friend to check Device Manager...is there anything I can look up and make changes in there?
advance thanks
run Scan for Hardware changes and not getting recognized still.
I just tried two different SATA cables and two USB cables and not getting recognized still.
I went to JMicron for drivers but not sure which one applied to my situation.
Any other advice?
@Ligushka, I tried that latest driver and still no result, see screenshot
http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/4836/missinghd.jpg
I'm getting to the point of just getting another HD dock, but I want to know if this eSATA port will work for the new HD dock :shakes:
If anyone is still after a copy of uGuru 3103 I've managed to find a link for it.
ftp://ftp-usa.abit.com.tw/pub/downlo...guru_v3103.zip
Hope this helps someone. I'm just about to install it and see if it makes any difference..
(Incidentally, this is where I found the link)

For those of you interested in having a more up-to-date BIOS, here it is:
abit IP35 Pro Beta 18 BIOS "ZZZ", modded version from here: http://www.lejabeach.com/ABIT/IP35Pro/
Updated with:
Phoenix AHCI Option ROM 01.06.70 (08-13-2008)
Intel RAID/AHCI Option ROM 8.5.0.1030
JMicron JMB363 Option ROM 1.08.01
Included is AWDFLASH 8.94.
Flash using a clean DOS boot floppy or a USB key. Syntax:
AWD894.EXE 07-05-10.ZZZ /py/sn/cd/cc/cp
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE. FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Download
I have tested this on my IP35 Pro and it functions perfectly as far as I can tell. I do not have anything plugged into the JMicron controller, but have enabled it in CMOS setup and its option ROM screen still appears during boot up and also shows up and installs properly in Windows, so I assume it works fine. Confirmation wouldn't hurt, though!
Any noticeable performance increase/cooler temps, etc?
With the updated option ROMs? I doubt it. I haven't run any benchmarks though on disk I/O etc. Temperatures would not be affected whatsoever I believe, because these option ROMs are part of storage controller operation.
A user here who was having issues with some hard drive (I forgot exactly what, and I don't have the original PMs) tried flashing my BIOS w/ updated option ROMs and his issues were resolved.
Ah, gotcha.
Was just pondering because I'll be bringing my DDR2 build out of the dust (ABit IP35 board included in this) as a backup to my high performance DDR3 gaming rig.
very nice Ligushka! 10x!
Big thanks for pointing out this BIOS to us.
This BIOS fixed a bug with my OCZ vertex 2 with the latest firmware 1.11, the drive became not bootable but still detected, firmware 1.10 was fine. It was due to the old ICH9R option ROM v7.5.0.XXXX.
Any luck in the future to get the abit IP35 Pro Beta 18 BIOS "ZZZ" with the latest ICH9R option ROM v8.9.0.1023?
This option ROM can be extracted from Intel BIOS Update [BTX3810J.86A] here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...16604&lang=eng
Unfortunately I do not have the knowledge to do it myself.
Thanks again.
Hope he can done this marvelous job!
I have tried that option ROM (as well as 9.5.0.1021, but not 9.6.0.1014) and it resulted in a "HARDWARE_UNKNOWN" error. If it were possible to use a newer version of the Intel option ROM, I certainly would have. Sorry. Maybe I'll try 9.6.0.1014 and 8.9.1.1002 sometime. I'm glad to hear that the updated BIOS fixed your issue, though! If you don't mind, could you link to my release post in your signature?
Hey guys, overall how does a Q9300 run on one of these?
So if one would make an easy transition from a e4300 to a Q9300 what BIOS and procedure would be best?
It's been ummm since this mobo came out since I've done anything with this thing.
Do I flash the BIOS, then install new chip. or New chip then new BIOS. I pretty much want to do this in a way that wont make me reinstall windows.
Oh and how do I even flash the BIOS on this thing? Do I have to use any specific program I remember using a floppy?
p.s. I love that this thread is still active has to be a record. I miss Abit so much.
@Glow9: A Q9300 works fine with 17 and 18 BIOSes in my experience (but I have no experience with overclocking at all). You won't need to reinstall or modify Windows in any way after dropping in the new chip. Depending on your current BIOS revision, you may not need to update the BIOS at all.
What are the differences between 17 and 18 also, anyone know where I can find the newest drivers before Abit died?
I got to find an old OC guide its been so long since I was in my BIOS doing anything. My voltage constantly switches due to a power saving thing I think in the BIOS but what I don't get is that I have it turned off. Or so I think, which options would do this or should I just leave it as is?
I hope I actually see a difference over my 3Ghz e4300.
I'm not sure on the particulars with BIOS 17 & 18, Glow. I'm on 16 w. no issues and no need to update.
Details of each BIOS revision are on the first page of this thread.
Besides the abit µGuru software/driver, none of the drivers are abit proprietary. It would appear that the µGuru 3.109 link on the first page is dead, so here is a mirror. Here is a list for some drivers:
Realtek LAN
Realtek HD Audio
JMicron Controller
Both the Intel chipset and Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers that are posted on the Intel website currently are not the latest versions. I have uploaded Chipset 9.1.2.1008 WHQL and Rapid Storage Technology 9.6.4.1002 inf files (there doesn't appear to be a setup file with the RST service for 9.6.4.1002; if you want it, you'll have to install the bundled "Intel Rapid Storage Technology 9.6.3.1001.exe" in the archive first, then update to the latest driver using 9.6.4.1002 files through Device Manager) here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SPIG8V6T
If you're not using RAID or AHCI modes with the Intel SATA controller, you do not require the RST drivers. The Chipset installer should install the latest version of the applicable driver for IDE emulation mode.
Here are the IP35 Pro manual and µGuru manuals, too. Links on first post are dead.
I hope this helps!
I think uGuru f'ed up my system once when trying to update the drivers. Whats the best floppy method? Do I need to use a program to do it with a floppy?
By "floppy method" I assume you're talking about flashing the BIOS? I would advise using a USB key for flashing the BIOS. Use this utility and these DOS files to create a bootable USB key. I would advise using my BIOS with updated option ROMs as it's the latest BIOS anywhere.
µGuru has caused constant blue screens for my brother's computer which has an abit AT8-32x motherboard with BIOS 12, but I've not had any issues with just the driver installed on my machine.
If anybody wants an older BIOS revision with updated option ROMs, let me know.
Here you go. I have not tested this BIOS on my system, so as always flash at your own risk.
There are new JMicron eSata and non-eSata drivers on the JMicron website for those interested.
PD: I think I need to update my sig! :)
thanks for the heads up
But I'm completely newb to this flashing but which driver was I suppose to download for my IP35PRO board...is this the driver???
advance thanks
This is the driver required for the JMicron storage controller.
question for Ligushka: could you also prove to update the BIOS for BIOSTAR TPower I45 ?
Powerfull,
I am planning to have Vertex 2 as boot drive and 2 other disks as raid 1. I didn't realize that the firmware version of ICH9R may cause troubles. I think I am still using a older version of the BIOS, not sure which one till I am home. The CPU I am using is Q6600. I am kinda hesitate to upgrade to the latest Beta 18 because I have seen some issues with the USB keyboard in bios under AHCI mode for Beta 17 & 18. And the last time I tried to upgrade the BIOS, it scewed the fan control and the temprature warning beep like crazy. I then follow the rule that " if it is fine, why change it " ...
Is there anyway to find out the firmware version of ICH9R for each revision of the BIOS?
If the firmware of ICH9R is too old. I may to the Beta 18 or get some help from Ligushka if it is possible to upgrade the ROMs.
Thanks in advance.
xchric,
If you have an offcial BIOS there is a good chance that your version is 7.5.0.XXXX, you can see it on the top of the screen (second one) during the boot sequence.
You need to update your ICH9R Option Rom to use the vertex 2 (firmware 1.11) as a boot disk. Ligushka is kindly offering his help to get your favorite BIOS with updated option ROMs.
Good luck.
Thanks, Powerfull
Ligushka has posted a BIOS 18 updated with
Phoenix AHCI Option ROM 01.06.70 (08-13-2008)
Intel RAID/AHCI Option ROM 8.5.0.1030
JMicron JMB363 Option ROM 1.08.01
I saw you propose the latest ICH9R option ROM v8.9.0.1023 in another post.
Is it necessary to update the Intel AHCI to the latest or the 8.5.0.1030 version that Ligushka used is good enough for OCZ vertex 2 and maybe?
Thank you
You are running BIOS 14.
It's not possible to update the OROM to 8.9.0.1023 as I've stated earlier. It throws a "HARDWARE_UNKNOWN" error when trying to use the AHCI/RAID controller mode. I would assume newer OROMs would give the same error, so I settled for 8.5.0.1030. It seems to solve some issues, so unless some more pop up I don't think I'll try to see if any newer version happens to work.
Thanks, Ligushka. I missed your previous post.
Since the 8.5.0.1030 is working well, as confirmed by Powerfull. I will try to update to BIOS 18 with your mod first. If I am not lucky enough with the bios 18, I will fall back to current bios 14 and ask your help to update its ROMs.
Thanks again.
Hi !
I would be happy to have an updated BIOS, but as I use AHCI, I can't use the BIOS 17 or 18 (due to the keyboard problem).
Would you mind to mod a BIOS 16 with those ROMs :
Phoenix AHCI Option ROM 01.06.70
Intel RAID/AHCI Option ROM 8.5.0.1030
JMicron JMB363 Option ROM 1.08.01
That would be very nice ! :)
Regards.
It seems that all the mirrors on the abit site for BIOS 16 are dead. If you can provide a mirror for BIOS 16, I can update the OROMs.
Here it is :
http://dl.free.fr/phOi5946m
Thank you very much ! :)
And here is your updated BIOS 16: http://www.multiupload.com/7XU5UFHSEA
I have not tested this BIOS on my system, so flash at your own risk.
Thanks !
I'm going to test it right now...
edit : it works ! Great job ! :)
