omg I want the MB also to have pci 16x. godd damn :banana::banana::banana:
asus needs to work on its bios. on this newest version i have issues booting and restarting. sometimes it hangs detecting USB devices. other times it takes forever to detect IDE drives. sometimes it says CPU fan error for no apparent reason.
i just put some copper HS near the CPU HSF where it says 'heatsink' on the motherboard and has holes, but no HS there. i am running at 480 w/o orthos errors vs before where it would error. either that or it's cooler (but my room is only 4 F cooler though)

What video card do you have?
What revisions do you guys have? Which one is better, C1 or C2
Has anyone with p5b mobo and Team Xtreem Micron 3-3-3-8 PC-5300 1GB RAM had any trouble getting high FSB speeds, or ya think there is a FSB limit on my CPU?
Currently im stuck at 457FSB with 9x 8x and even 7x multi with my E6600.
both on a single stage cooler and even -100c cascade not 1 FSB more.
Even with -32c on both the NB and 1.8v not 1 FSB more??????

In the past i had a similar issue with a E6400 .
I hit the 457FSb limit then he changed the following setting here in ram
and i got an additional 80MHz at the same 4-4-4-11 timmings.

try 4-4-4-12-5-35-4-10-5-13
was using either 6200 turbocache ora 7900GTO. happened with both. Although my memory died, so right now i have nothing.Quote:

From what you described regarding he addition of hte ATA making your boot go faster, this leads me to belive that the only PCI device that is actually mainly effected here is hte Jmicron chip.
If defrent combination yield diffrent results, i would say its either a Jmicron bios issues or Jmicron driver issue.
look for latest drivers of Jmicron i'm on 1.17.4
101 at pci freq do not work here after a reboot:(
Thnx C_fun, I haven't even thought of updating that driver, never knew there was a driver needed in the first place, I must have installed it though cuz I ran the checker on the ASUS motherboard cd and I think it installed the jmicron driver from that. So I am probably running a very old driver. Will edit this post if I have some results.
EDIT : It appears I never installed any Jmicron driver and I don't think its necessary cuz look what installing v1.17.04 did,
http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/4098/raidcdromnk5.jpg
now my IDE nec burner is listed as a SCSI device, and its just connected to an IDE channel so giving it raid drivers probably isn't going to help:)
PS : the second SCSI device is normal, thats just the daemontools virtualdrive and thats allways listed as SCSI!
Ya, don't install the JMicron driver - it will jack things up and sometimes force PIO mode on your burners. JMicron is just crap any way you look at it - it's almost worth jumping on the 680i bandwagon.
i got the same results but daemon tools was instaled before i installed the Jmicron drivers by mistake... will my performace be worst now?? with the Jmicron driver installed from the cd i mean
yeah it fux up your cdrom drive, will load up cd's much slower as well once installed, but after deinstall everything seems fine. Don't care really as i'm going raid tomorrow, so whatever is fuxored upzored will be fixed in the process:) And if raid ain't working to fix my boottimes then I will slap a nonformatted IDE harddrive on that IDE channel, get a SATA dvd burner and be done with all this crap:LOL:
after a clean install and using the audigy2 card, i'm getting less than 2 cycles of the windows loading bars every boot :woot:
does anyone now how to set Marwell Youkon to 1000Mbit full duplex ? cant change to anything but 10 100 and auto sense and i get really crappy speeds uploading to my other comp = (
I'm getting very close to ditching this crappy onboard audio!Quote:

I just deleted them for testing purposes to see if Jmicron IDE was causing the slow splash part to windows.
