Or can I use the orange ports as standard sata (no raid 0/1)? I think you can do that.
I had the same issue with the 1003.. On 1102 still/. I wanna be able to code these bios's. I would love to be able to.
Finally I get a good config !!!
520*7.5 = 3900Mhz with memory at 1:1 --> 1040Mhz
Dou you think it's a good config ?
If anyone has some recommended bios settings for overclocking a Q6600 (G0 stepping) on the P5Q-E, I would greatly appreciate it! Right now I have Vcc at 1.33V (VID=1.300V) and VDimm at 2.1V (that's what my 4gb OCZ Platinum XTC DDR2-8000 is rated at). I have my memory on a 3:4 divider so it's running at 994 Mhz, which is pretty close to its rated DDR2-1000 speed. I believe I have most things in the Advanced tab on Disabled, everything else is Auto. I can post into Vista Ultimate 64-bit at 9x373 but am trying to get Prime95 stable. Right now seems to give errors after an hour, so I'm slowly increasing Vcc until it's Prime95 stable or the CPU runs too hot, then I'll back down the fsb some. Any other suggestions? BTW I'm running beta bios 1102, and on air-cooling with an OCZ Vendetta 2.
I originally put both of my 640gb WD drives in the orange sata ports, not planing to use RAID right away but wanted the option too later on, plus I figured the controller on those ports would be better.
Well long story short it would only see one of my two drives no matter what I did when I had them plugged in there and I had to use the normal red sata ports to install windows on my 2nd drive.
I dunno if there was any way to fix this, but for me I could not use those ports and have individual drive functions and it made me think my new HDD was defective.
My performance with this config is:

I thought you can use them for single drives too.:confused:
I finally finished reading this whole thread last night and did some overclocking on my Q9450. I hit 3.4 on all auto settings and ran prime95 blend for about an hour with no issues.
I then bumped it up to 3.6 and it booted into windows and fired up prime95 and immediate crash. I upped my vcore, nb, vtt and manually set ram. I was able to run prime95 blend for an hour. I have it at 3.7 right now and can't get 3.8 stable.
also, every time I fail prime95 blend it locks up and resets automatically. I never get a rounding error, not even once which is strange as when this was on my DFI LT X38 board it always got the rounding error. Also, I can't seem to get it stable without raising vcore. When I raise nb or vtt it only makes a small difference, but raising vcore makes a huge difference. vcore is currently at 1.33125v. I guess I'll just list my whole BIOS settings so you can hopefully guide me to 3.8 stable.
also, I have BIOS 0506. I successfully flashed my BIOS to 0803 a while back and it wouldn't boot. I seen this thing has two CMOS chips so I swapped them and it booted to this BIOS. I'm afraid to flash to the latest BIOS and end up CMOSless and unbootable.Code:AI Overclock tuner: MANUAL

Having a bit of trouble with my overclock on the RAM side. I am at 3.8GHz prime stable and for whatever reason, I cannot get my ram to go above 9xxMHz. When I try to get into the 1xxxMHz range, i fail to post. I have tried upping the voltage on the RAM and I cant seem to get it stable. Attached is a screenshot of my RAM timings, CPUz shots, everest benchmark scores, and Asus Probe. Temps are fine. As you can see Im getting 29*C idle. Load temps depending on the game can be anywhere from 45-60*C.
My current settings are as follows:
Vcore 1.45
CPU GTL .63 and .67
CPU PLL 1.64
FSB term 1.38
NB 1.5
NB GTL .63
SB - 1.20
PCIe Sata volt 1.5
Ram timings 5-5-5-15-3-45
Everything else is stock settings. Thanks guys.

I wonder has anyone replaced thermal paste for copper heatsinks NB/SB?
I dont see any huge beneficial gain from doing so.
@CrAsHnBuRnXp
Same here. No matter what i try it won't be stable past 900MHz. Do you have all 4 slots filled or just 2 ?
New bios 1003 just appear in asus site.
Somebody to test? :p:
