As I know ALL P6T oficial bios suffer from throttling.
Can you tell me benefits of doing this?
Can you translate to english please
i tested both bios on my deluxe V2 just for curiosity.. with the WS PRO bios you get TDP safety disable option, but i couldnt boot with it at 210*21. The P6X58D it worked fine, but i was getting something like a new device, usb express gate, on my task bar, didnt liked it so removed the bios.
Thank you. Very helpful
Does P6T-WS-ASUS-PRO-0913 support i7-980x? Thanks
Edit: Nevermind :)
P6T WS Pro formal release BIOS version 0913
1. Add microcode for Gulftown CPU.
Is there anyone from Asus that can perhaps chime in about doing this? Is it safe to crossflash a bios to an entirely different board?
Yeah the P6X bios also throttles at 4.4Ghz just like any regular P6T bios so i flashed back to 0006 besides i couldn't disable SAS-SCSI which was slowing down my boot times by like 10 seconds or so plus i wasn't getting any better overclocks except when i used QPI slow mode and QPI slow mode is exactly that. Unusable.
I will try the P6T WS bios later. For those who are interested, get the engineering afudos (google it) and use the following command:
afu236u /iyourbiosname.rom /pbnc /n
and hit enter. Shut down manually when done. Don't forget an "i" before bios name.
anyone tested on P6TD Deluxe, or am i going to be the first?
thx :worship:
yeah i tested throttling with i7 turbo and it held constant 21X during linx @ 4.72ghz W3520 (Bios 0804 and 0901).. i was gunna use 0006 but i didnt need too.. ie. i know 980X has throttling problems which asus need to fix.. (enable TDP option??)
havent heard anything about crossflashing with that board but i read it uses 16+3 power design while P6T Deluxe V1/V2 use 16+2 power design.. so that may be a problem..
Where did you heard that?
P6TD DLX is same power design as P6T DLX. there only minor difference with drams termination, non soldered SAS cntrlr on P6TD etc.
I think P6TD DLX will crossflash w/o problems. But as usual - do it on ur own risk :)
Btw, maybe it's good to make special article about crossflashing?
i4memory .. but i check asus site and they say 16+2 phase design..
i4memory article

asus website

another crossflashing guide is always welcome :)
Another? Are there are any already? Links plz :)
I never trust specs on websites. Just open eyes and see on PCB what is on it. On pics of P6T and P6TD's there are clearly visible only 2 phases for Uncore near main VRM for Vcore
i only see 16+3 design spec at i4memory.. maybe an early revision or error by i4memory..
i agree, i see 2 phases for uncore on all pics ive seen..
well some hours ago i've flashed my P6T Dlx V1 to the latest P6T7 WS Supercomputer BIOS. It went smooth and booted right off the bat. But i was getting this "PCI IRQ routing table error" on the post screen but ignored it and strted pushing it however i couldn't even boot at my 24/7 21x210 clocks so reverted back to the 0006 bios.
Is there any other bios i could try?
Throttling afects only the performance or a stable OC too ?
Earlier in this thread I read about a "recommended" chipset fan for the P6TD Deluxe motherboard. What is the "recommended" fan and where can I find one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This may be a good precaution in my situation because I'm water cooling and my case (LianLi) doesn't have a side panel fan.
Thanks guys/gals :)
It throttles even at 100% stable clocks. I think once you exceed just under 150W it'll start throttling.
Screw Asus. Their boards are overhyped and usually fall short of expectations. My P6T DLX hits the wall at 216BCLK and i've tried to push it past the wall with three chips now including the 980X which btw also throttles.
same here: 216 is the max stable i was able to push... i test with 20pass of 5250MB in linx to be absolutely sure.
the thing is that starting with bclk 214 i get reboots doing prime95 custom (5000MB with 8k Max FFT's) at about 15hs of stress-testing (less when at bclk216); pretty weird..
Hey guys, I'm trying to play around with my 980x, but everytime I run LinX it throttles the multi back to around 4.3~4.4Ghz.
I use the P6t Deluxe v2 and the retail 0904 bios. I'm interested in the special "non-throttling" bios, but I'm worried about losing support for the Gulftown proc. Anyone with a 980x tried the bios?
