I told you guys i am not feelign its 100% perfect and i was right. this same feeling i had with the 4530 no DTS version when i tired it. it had small boot delay like now as comapred to the DTS version.

Reason was that the soundmax pannel showed DTS TAB, but try to set things in it and u will see its reverts back to nothing, it doesnt keep the settings.

This is because there is no driver suport for this.
and now you ask so how come we have DTS TAB there with those Drivers ?
the ANSWER is simple, these are NOT stand alone drivers, they were supposed to be installed on TOP of the 4570 DTS version, this means the 4570 DTS version layed out the grounds for the sound max panel, but the 4580 just overun the core driver and left the leftovers unfunctional and not suported.

Basiclaly Asus wanted us to keep quite so they "made a so called advanced numebring onthe driver 4580" so we all be happy its "new" and basiclaly disabled DTS.

feels and looks like they wraped hte 4530_32bit version with a new numbering and overun the core 4570_DTS drivers.

a bunch of crap.

Is this verifiable? I sent an email to Asus support asking for help with a few of my problems with my P5B, no surprise I never got an email back. I thought my A7N8X would have had the worst sound quality, but the P5B has proven me wrong--I would gladly go back to putting up with nvidia's control panel, at least it didn't ever BSOD my system. ASUS implementation of onboard sound is a TRAVESTY.

Part of why I payed for a premium motherboard such as the P5B was exactly because I don't want to deal with these problems. Asus really is cementing itself in my opinion as a disingenuous and incompetent company.

So have u found a way to do it, i mean killing ur chip? what volts?? mine l626A stuck @470 so ..... i really2x want to get at least l628b :lol:

I just checked the Asus site for their bios files to DL, and they only have the 0804 bios there. I'm about to build a new rig with this board, but I wanna have the 0711...anyone know where I can get a link to this bios, or kind enough to upload it to me? Thx.

**EDIT**: Nevermind, I DL'd it off opendrivers.com. Not bad, just beware the pop ups.

A month ago i downloaded the newest release candidate of Vista. I tried to install but couldnt finish.

It was stopping after searching for source CD/DVD (where the windows vista dvd is).
therefore it couldnt copy files.

I had to install a driver for the dvd writer>>>> which is on the jmicron controller.

I tried to install every driver which i got from asus.com (jmicron driver, intel driver, intel f6 driver, jmicron f6 driver )>> p5b dlx, but no go.
I also tried by changing ide to raid and ahci, still, no go.

I presume more ppl have installed vista on p5b-d

I forgat to tell that it is a S-ATA dvd writer (samsung).

That stupid installation screwed my whole raid, i lost all of my files (games== redownload== lot of time).

I quess i ll have to try with an IDE drive.

But i can tell u, it can read the cd, till some point (hardware search)

Just started messing around with this P5B Deluxe I got from pablo, so far I'm quite impressed with it. The pic below is not 100% stable but I can 32mb SuperPi. However, I do can 485x7 Othos all day long. I will post bios settings later. All on Air and no vmods. All OCs done in BIOS.

Stuck at 3800 with 6600 L630A(380) 1.6125v set 1.58v real with tunic tower 120. i guess 4Ghz will have to wait till i get my 775 wc block since load temps are around 60c allready.

still belive its the board holding me back , behaves exactly the sam way as p5w dh did at fsb limit which was around 375-380 now with p5b dlx its around 425-430.

Is 0804 the best one for high fsb ?

i have 804 and i run my fsb at 477. i can run it at 480 but it's flakey. i can't boot at 483...i think it's my ram.

(what u mean with flakey?)

Many people cant go over 480 with p5b-d.

It is a limit, dunno its the board or the cpu.

Update on slow boot, important development!!!!!!!

Okay, I found this out on pure luck, I had this old disk lying around, an ATA harddisk and it never worked proper on my previous board, something to do with jumpers etc. So I thought, why not try and see if it works on my P5B, so I disconnected my Nec IDE burner and attached that Hitachi IDE disk, upon reboot I could see in light blue that my Hitachi was detected on Jmicron, detection was very fast which led me to believe nothing was wrong with the disk in the first place.

Now onto the kicker of the story, with this simple ATA133 IDE drive attached to my comp my boot into windows was sped up threefold. Where I had 5 bars before, I was now on 1,5 and it would go to desktop:) Then I tested booting without any device connected to that Jmicron IDE and mysteriously I was back at 5 bars again. So whatever the problem is, it goes away completely with a simple crappy ATA133 IDE attached to Jmicron.

Note to readers : I am running windows XP from SATA port 1, and windows is installed with AHCI drivers via F6 install, onboard audio is disabled, abundant LAN port is also disabled, and floppy drive is also disabled in bios. So if anyone here has any clue as to why this is happening lemme know. I do know this however, if I now decide to switch to RAID0 with two drives running on SATA1 and 2 mixed with this weird fix of mine when running 1 IDE drive connected to Jmicron then this could only spell 0,5 bars into windows, just has to be. Cuz right now, I am merely booting from an old 36Gb single raptor.

This message primarily to C_fun, Kakulukia, and others who want to see this slow boot fixed. Again more light is shed on the matter, test it for yourselves and post your results here.

i am running raid0 (@intel).
The slow boot is caused by the intel or jmicron controller, i believe that it isnt the sound (i use it).

Somehow i dont have a slow boot, only a 3 seconds black screen,
is that what u mean with slow boot? And i am pretty sure that that is caused by my raid array.

Well all I can say is, 3x faster is quite alot, and with the faster bootup I mean when windows first starts loading and shows the splash screen, how long it takes there.

i fail orthos blend at 478-480. at 477 i can run it a long time. i have a "b" cpu too.
