Yes I have it too.
Seams to be the biggest source on the internet for P5W DH Deluxe problems, so I will post mine here,
Specs:
P5W DH Dluxe Bios 1305
Intel 6600
Crosair XMS2 pc2-6400 5-5-5-12
ATi x1900xtx
Segate Baracuda 320gb
Enermax Libertity 520w
Antec P180
My huge problem varies. Somtimes my computer will just lock up on post, right after detecting my ram, other times I can enter, BIOS and it will lock up while going through BIOS menus. Other times it will just continue to boot as normal. When I try to boot from the windows disc, this usually leads to a restart.
This is my secound motherboard, I RMA'd the first one thinking the problem was faulty bios, but it seams i was wrong.
I am running memtest89 right now and so far no errors. (Side question, when do i know memtest has gone through a complete cycle?) The only problem i can see is on post, it usually detects my ram as pc-5300 or somthing, i have tried manualy changng it to ddr2-800, but then i get the occasional overvoltage, when i havent messed with the voltage.
This is my first ever computer build and im not enjoying the experence.... any help is appricated
I don't see a liberty 520 listed at newegg, but whether it's the 500 or the 620 it should be fine, yet that behavior looks like a PSU problem to me.Quote:

My PC2-6400 RAM would test good running at DDR2-667 without those pins connected, but wouldn't work at its rated speed.
You just need to change the divider for the DRAM speed when you get everything working. It's normal for it to be set at PC2-5300 until you do.
THANK you - fixed my standby issues on one machine. Much appreciated.Quote:

Yep I have this SMBUS thing too. I dont think its anything though, although a few times I got blurry display from my X1900XT on dvi.
Hmm, how i do my Update with Asus Update tool :am: :wierd: ^^Quote:

Hello everyone. Just done a clean swap of my Asus P4C800E deluxe for a new system (I think I will miss that great MB...). I have the "POST lockup during detecting IDE devices bug" problem during reboot only. Here's my specs:
C2D E6600 (stock speed) + Asus P5W DH (bios 15.03)
-Corsair 2X1024 (5-5-5-15-2T) (SPD)
-Segate 7200.10 SATA2 320 GB on ICH7 red header, non-RAID (I have 2 other drives but to try to fix my reboot bug I just use one...)
-HP DVD writer 200j (ICH7), non SATA
-Lite-On DVD writer SHW-160P6S (ICH7) non SATA
-XFX Geforce 7950 GX2
-SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatal1ty (not installed, trying to fix the reboot bug before...)
-Antec Trio 650W
-PS2 keyboard
-USB mouse
When I reboot, I see 2048 meg of RAM, and then it freeze there. Nothing else, even after 1-2 minutes. If I power/off/on then everything goes smooth and the HD and DVD writers are all recognized and I get a regular and really fast boot.
Jmicron is disabled in bios. But I have the same problem if it's enabled...
I've tried all the settings in the bios for the drives: Compatible mode, enhanced mode, PATA+SATA, SATA, etc.
Impossible to reboot. The only thing working is power off/on. Everything is at stock speed, no overclocking, minimal install w/o any PCI cards to try to fix that "bug".
Everything is working perfectly and stable in Win XP Pro if I start with a power on. The only problem is the rebooting.
Thanks for your help.
Stupid question but you have cleared CMOS? Try removing one stick of RAM and switching slots.
I've cleared the CMOS with the jumper (1 minute), but I simply have no idea how to remove the gigantic GX2 card blocking the CMOS battery to remove it. Why did they put the battery there? Do you think that the jumper clearing was enough?Quote:

I have try all the SATA headers with the same result.
Press down the Clip from abouve with a pliers, but be really carefull!!!!!!!!!
For a Biosreset you just need to turn over the jumper the next pin at right side.
No need to take out the batt.
You should be able to push the white clip/latch down toward the bottom of the case with a pencil or something non metallic to prevent damage if you slip.
I never remove my battery when I clear Cmos either.

I have a question, I can't get my second Hard drive to detect in windows. My second hard drive is also a Seagate 320 gb hd. I am not doing a raid, I just want to use it for storage. It shows up in bios but it doesn't show up in windows. Although it does show up in windows installation, both drive that is. I have the main master hd connected to the red slot sata and the slave hd connected to the black slot sata.
When I go do "My computers" => "Manage" => "Storage" => "Disk Management" it doesn't show up at all, to let me assign a drive letter to it, so I can format it. I'm not exactly sure what to do.
Also another problem I have is hanging, the computer hangs when I work in programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Maya, I can't open multiple programs and multitask, or else the program crashes. Sometimes I have to close a folder, or close my winamp or close firefox, to remove the hang. I'm not sure if I'm the only one encountering this weird hang problem.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Thank you guys.
I was able to remove the video card, remove the battery and clear CMOS with the jumper. I disabled jmicron and all the Q-fan and fans settings.
So now I can reboot...
Those steps are pretty fast:
Primary Master.. Atapi CD-ROM
Primary Slave.. Atapi CD-ROM
3rd Master...
3rd slave...
Then it stays like that for around 30-45 seconds, and then I have a very loooooong boot in Windows... A big 2-3 minutes to reboot...
With my P4C800E deluxe I was good to go in 30-35 seconds max with a full reboot. Sigh... I really think I will miss that board...
Booting in windows is alot faster when doing a power off/on with my P5W DH. Around 50-60 seconds (still too long IMHO, but better then the reboot problem...).
Strange... What's happening when I reboot? What's different then when I do a power off/on?
Apart from that boot problem, my system is really stable.
Um, for battery removal press either the right or left side of the battery, and it will "tilt" so you can get a hold of it. the clip that is on this board cannot be depressed.
It's only is bad cases that you need to remove the battery...I have had to clear CMOS from overclocking(yes the asus crap didn't work) many many times, and only once had to remove the battery as well.
Levesque
Under the first page is drive options or something...change the HDD delay there to 0.
It's working! Why they put a default value of 35 is beyond me, but with "0", it's re-booting "normally". The 35 seconds delay to detect the drives is gone. Thank you! :toast:Quote:

Probably due to the drivers that must load...afer all, this is what happens when you start XP. A defrag can sometimes help too.
Hey,
does somebody has a bios which is able to deactivate one core on my p5wdh ? we need it very quickly
I don't know if You have this or not, But do You have the powertoys for windows xp?Quote:

That's strange that it doesn't show up under Disk Management. When I installed my 3rd SATA (first two were in RAID), that's how I had to format it/show it. But it does show up in the BIOS? How about under Disk Drives in the Device Manager?Quote:

With my circumstance , I had to set the Jmicron raid to normal mode to get the ide drive recognized in windows despite being recognized in bios .Did ya remember to install the raid drvers for both controllers with F6 method a windows install ?
