@nugzo How long did you dual prime for- did you use small FTT?Quote:

Take the IHS off and u can reach 2.9ghz with a little more volts and with consistent burning.Quote:

Anyway would most appreciate all your comments on this?

Don't waiste your money unless you need the higher multiplier. I haven't seen a 165 yet that will not hit 175 speeds on default voltage. So the yields on these chips must be very good and it all comes down to luck of the draw. The 175 hasn't shown any better results than the 165 but there are some exceptional chips in both ranges.:fact:Quote:

Sure sounds easy.:DQuote:

Initial results look promising. Fired right up at 2.6ghz.... went to 2.7Ghz.... still a go.... tried 2.8Ghz on stock voltage and finally core 1 failed prime. I backed it down to 2.75Ghz and just bumped the voltage to 1.45V. Dual prime is running for about an hour now @ 42C. OCCT passed so I am guessing prime will pass- at least thats my experience.
I could probably get this to 2,8Ghz with 1.5v or so, but 2.75Ghz at 1.45 will be just fine with me on my lowly air cooled rig.
That's about what mine does... It takes some pretty good voltage past 2.8 to get it to go higher but it definately goes like a raped ape w/o the IHS and some voltage :)Quote:

Damn nice chip mate!
What's wrong with your waterblock though? That CPU temp is HIGHHHH for watercooling, specially with that low of voltage.
Tried reseating it lately?

I modded my HSF mount to a "through the mobo, stud design" and use knurled nuts to hold my Zalman on nice and tight.... kinda just like a waterblock, but using the Zalman mounting mechanism instead of springs on the studs. I can dial in some pressure with the nuts to keep pretty good contact on the CPU.
Dual priming @ 2.75Ghz, 1.45V!! 100% CPU usage baby!!

I was going to say... lol
With my outdated Swiftech MCW6000-64 I top out at 38*c full load @ 1.7vcore. :toast:
Which should actually read ~ at the very least 48c due to the eXpert under-reporting temps :(Quote:

I wonder what the true core temp really is
tankguys.biz have the Opteron 165 0550 UPMW in stock now
Very nice chipQuote:

This isn't on my Expert, I haven't migrated to it yet, this is on my SLI-DR (standard).Quote:

How would you compare this with your 170? Was prime95 run on your default cooler? From the details you have given it looks like the 165 is good chip but nothing specialQuote:

- But with 1.5V vcore : 165 stable @300*9 and 170 stable @300*10
just opened up a CCBWE 0543TPMW opteron 170... cant wait to see how she does :D
I bought this one from ebay and didn't expect too much from it, but holy smoke big surprise batman this beast is truly Shock and Awe :slobber: :slobber: :slobber:

The IHS is still on...YES ithe sucker is still on!!! This stepping reminds me of my single core 148 CABNE, it has EXCELLENT memory controller as I can use the exact same timing as the CABNE wherea in the past I'd always had to relax the timing for all my X2  the 0546 XPMW that I received from ZZF last friday needed 1.63v to do 3.0Ghz, 1.60v always result in core 1 failed prime instantly....won't even last 2 seconds! Since the newer 0551 stepping is starting to hit the street and their overclockability is still unknown I'll see if I can get my hands on few more of these 0550 UPMW :slobber:
3.0Ghz @1.40v baby!!

I haven't try lower vcore or higher clock, it's still priming at the moment but I'll yank the IHS later and see how far I can push this beast!!
:woot: :woot:
i cant help but notice that your cpu temp is 1C, i would be impressed if this was on normal air, or possibly water, but it looks like your cooling is even better.
Im currently dual priming at 2.8G with 1.48vcore on stock shuttle air, super PI 32m already passed.
