I said a few posts behind i should have one tomorrow for testing, well... forget it. Demand is extremely high, there will be a few for orders and only next week. Product is NOT available in high quantities, hope this is not another 4770 flop :down:

Word (dunno where I read it, so take it with a grain of salt as usual) is the OEMs demanded quite a few cards ;) I personally don't think the yields are very bad. AMD has the "chance" to sell chips as the HD-5850 when a few SPs are defective.

Really??Damned,i need a new card BAD.My 8800 Ultra died on me a month ago,and no l uck with the warranty.So the local pc shop put in a 8400gs card...as a replacement till the new ATI'S arrive...And believe me;even TF classic is a pita to play with that :banana::banana::banana::banana: card:rofl:

Oh, there's no shortage in production...
...the cards are just diverted to warehouses to build oem computers instead

I hear Dell have 30,000 cards right now

Yields are fine.
Part of the reason is high demand from consumers and OEMs, plus TSMC doesn't seem to be at max capacity yet with 40nm production.

I mentioned it originally and took it back because when I relooked at the quote from the source there was no mention of when those were being supplied. I very recently heard that there will be ~50-100k cards at launch with most of them being 5870s. With that recent info I am going to guess that the 300k cards are what they ordered for '09.

Those scores arent looking SUPER great up against the GTX 295 like i previously thought.. should i even bother getting a 5870 if i got a 295?

That thing is officially a beast and if the 320€ they mentioned is true (it was the same price on Salland too before they pulled it) then Nvidia is in trouble considering the best price for a noname 295 is 385€ here, a branded one being 430€ on average.

From this review, it looks like you wouldn't be gaining much but maybe drivers aren't still good...
I've never liked tom's reviews... Don't know why exactly...

You should wait and see what GT300 bringts to the table. There's no need for you to buy a new GFX just yet. Just my humble opinion.
