Thx, I'll give it a whirl.

for the guys with P5E3 DELUXE boards
if you want to unlock some power from your board you can flash it to Premium bios BUT you have to do a vcore mod and bump the vcore with the VR to be able to post as the vcore is set a low lower than stock due to OVP jumper on premium board
i had trouble booting even at 500MHz sometimes with DLX bios but when i flashed to Premium bios 0605 i am now booting into windows at 620MHz FSB with 266 strap no less
wish i could get someone to figure out how to make an ovp jumper on this board now as its a killer OCer lol
Does anyone know if the "quick boot" function in the boot menu is really needed?
hmm im haveing probs at min got the lastes p5e bios and with 4 sticks of ram i cant boot at anything over 400 fsb no idea why tried everthing but just no boot over 400 any ideas
quick question lads! how much FSB should i expect to reach on strap266 with my P5E? many thanks
This are my voltages as following: BIOS value/Hadware Monitoring in BIOS and Win/Multimeter - 1.48***v/1.42v/1.4v. This is without LLC, i have no drop at all, multimeter "says" that in BIOS, idle and load all measurments shows pretty close voltages.(P5E Delux X48@Rampage Formula)
So, is this huge difference normal between what i set and actuall value? So far, haven't see that difference on 3 MB, that i measured.

When I was running a Q6700 I was topping out around 460. That was with P5E0903 and RF0403 on the quad, did pick up a little (5-7)with RF0410 over the first mentioned on my dualie as I remember.
spoof, no, 0410 has worked for me and have not had time to test the newer ones.
Sorry to join in but, on my P5E I could never get above 470FSB to work. I'm assuming ur talking about FSB here?
thank you Aleslammer, i'll give it a shot one of this days when it gets a little more chilly..
now, about P5E bios 1102... how does it stand compared to RF bios 410?
thks :D
@spoof: lock ups with a prime-stable machine seem to be caused by low VTT and/or PLL, have you tried that out yet? seemed to work for a friend of mine. i personally never had to deal with that kind of issue thought.
I had now raid0 and i have vista in there. If flash rampage bios does that raid still work fine?(now i have p5e own bios)
Is there big difference between P5E bios 1102 and rampage bios? I have heard that 1102 bios takes fsb very well.
RF bios allows for more tweaking options and my vcore is slightly lower over P5E bios. I had no improvement in max FSB with a quad core.
Hey death you should have no problems with 4 sticks of memory in your board with any bios!! One thing you and everyone should do is leave the "STRAP" on "AUTO
Then set the divider and timings manually. I am running 4 sticks of G.Skill 6400HZ on my board and using only 2.08v to get them to 600mhz with tight timings.

Remember leave the Strap setting on auto and give it a try. It should help you out. This is so easy on this board that this is my 24/7 clock.
I ran the same speed daily for over a year with my e 8400 but I wanted to play with the 8600. Takes less volts to get to and run at 4500 now.
The e8400 is fine it is in my 13 year-old son's machine. For him it was a nice step up from a e6600.
WZ
WeldZilla, did you see any FSB or core speed improvemnts using the E8600. That 10 multi would open up a few more memory options, so do you think it is worth it or is playing just to much fun.
You know the E8600 I got is not as good as some. It will barely do 500 x 10.
However. it does run 24/7 at 4500 like it is just nothing. I don't have to run my extreme
cooling to keep it cool. So in many regards it is a very nice processor. It allowed me to break 30,090
with my single 260GTX on 3D05!! and 90,715 on 3Do1 SE and 293,000 in Aquamark so all in all I am pretty happy with it.
I am seriously thinking of selling it and go with a quad. I am just spoiled by running at 4500 daily.
WZ
Your mentioned scores trash my 280's best, nice going. I came from a quad but like you I like that high core speed, been thinking about going back. BIOS RF0802 has been putting up some 520 plus FSB posts so I might give it try with a Q9650 down the road.
Ale
Yeah Aleslammer the way the 9650 is falling in price it is very tempting. You know for whatever reason the this combination of parts
really generates some amazing 3D scores.

When I broke the 30K with my single 260GTX I was freakin ecstatic!!

NICE RUN! beats my best core speed by 310 in 05. See you are using a 4 inch fan on your case, here's my cooling setup, wish I was still in ID, CA just doesn't get cold enough. Looks like I should bite the bullet and invest in a good water system also.

Been trying for 4.6 but have not had a night in the 30s for the last couple of weekends.

I love your set up!! My kinda inginuity!!!
I have 2 of the Dayton 4 inch Squirrel cage fans and Dryer hose.
One fan cools my main rig by channeling the cold air from the outside ( I love Winter)
through my radiator and on into the case where I direct the air right into my mem and Northbridge with a 120mm fan
I keep an eye onthings with a temp gun!
The other 4 in hose runs into the side of my air-cooled rig. I shoots directly over the CPU cooler It keeps my NB and memory very cold!!
In the pic you will only see one fan but, there are now 2 and they have a lean-to house over them with sides to keep rain, snow, leaves
what have you from getting sucked up!! and blown into my systems. My air cooled rig runs virtually as cool as my liquid cooled system!
Then in summer I Pull out the transition piece I run my hoses through and put an air-condition unit in the wall which keeps both machines
cool as well as the computer room. My wife and son have their machines in here too So we need the AC!!
Here are some shots.
My air-cooled only rig P5Q-Pro, E8400, G.Skill 6400HZ, Vid card, 3870

Now WeldZilla 3

My Current master piece

Here is how I track other external temps.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...X/IMG_3476.jpg
Shot of the heat spreader on my G.Skill 6400HZ
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...X/IMG_3477.jpg
that translates to 12.4C so my mem is very very cool
Now my Northbridge. As many out there know sometimes these get so hot you can only touch the heatsink for a few seconds!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...X/IMG_3481.jpg
Now I took the side cover off for these pics. With the cover on the NB runs at 55.4F
You know this power cooling works great on straight air cooling too. If you direct the air to where is needed
This cold air in my case year round is why I can bench my 260GTX 802 GPU and 1279 on the mem. You see my card idles at around 28C
And just won't go hight than 41C doing anything. Well check that after 30 minutes of furmark I hit 61C again that was at 802/1604/1269 0n the clocks
I am designing a new case now as WeldZilla 3, "Stealth By Design" is getting a little long in the tooth.
Don't you just love this stuff!!
WZ
hi WeldZilla, how many volts are you throwing at that x38 northbridge to get those temps? btw, nice set up :D
thks!
