im sorry but maybe you need to check the spec's on the cards ive listed.
those are studio cards and can do anything the creative cards do and better.

frankly if you knew anything about audio cards you would know that the creative cards are anything but top line cards. infact they are known in the audio community to be quite a joke.
and their support and drivers should have told you that years ago.
creatives bit rates have been and proven to been lied about and over rated.
they have never been a true multichannel card as they claimed they had been.

do some research before you make claims against a set of cards that has been proven from one end of the earth to the other to be the laughing stock of the audiophile community aside from the horrible onboard audio

So lestat honestly, if I wanted a wicked gaming sound card what would I be loooking at? Something like the XFi but not creative, and with support for all the EAX and everything

EAX is what makes creative a gaming card.

they buy out whoever tries to make a better "gamers" enhancements.

This is simply untrue. The x-fi line finally dealt with most of the sound quality issues of previous cards, and as others have said for gaming (unfortunately) Creative has a monopoly on newer versions of EAX.

All in all, the X-fi cards are very good if a little overpriced. If you're not going to play games or don't care about that extra 1-2% speed boost and possibly very slightly better in-game sound, then there are better, cheaper alternatives to the creative cards.

I've owned an M-Audio Revolution 7.1, the 5.1, and an EMU 0404. The first two utilize Sensaura's 3D algs and I had an incredibly difficult time "locating folks by sound" in Halo, UT2004, or BF2. All 3 mutilated my framerate by as much as 25%. The X-Fi's new headphone alg's put folks exactly where they should be. The immersion factor increases dramatically with 128 voices and proper cans. (Not 5.1 g-wiz headsets from mouse pad manufacturers)

This is the first time I've had an issue with the X-Fi since release. The drivers have been rock solid and choosing audio creation mode will allow for bit accurate playback. In a blind head 2 head using a PIMETA and some Sennheiser HD580's, a friend and myself picked the X-FI Xtrememusic over both "audiophile" cards. Factor in the X-Fi Elite Pro's use of 4 seperate higher quality DAC's and some of the higher end audio cards (1212M, Jubilee) will have a run for their money! IMO, the only real issue Creative's sound cards have now is disinformation. Well, that and the bullsh1t 24-bit Crystalizer...hahah...right. :lol:

BOT: This board and it's F6/F7 are the first to lose my X-Fi. I've had it on a 925XE from Abit and 2 NF SLI (3 and 4) from DFI without any issues.

Good luck finding a better gaming card than the X-FI. If someone thinks a "studio" card is better designed for gaming, then that person just needs to simmer down and find a different topic to comment on, because it's obvious that they have nothing intelligent to add.

Yes please...on topic, so the Conroe is gone and shipped off to the new owner, maybe he'll have more luck then me. Stripped my PC down and started a cleaning frenzy.

Even cracked open the OCZ for a fan clean and can of compressed air for the dust bunnies, hey...did you guys know the OCZ dosen't have a sticker "warranty void if seal/sticker broken" etc.....cool!

So i just took off the cover and clean her, gave my DQ6 a good blowing (no pun intended), feels nice to have a spring clean.

That's the last I'll say about it. My point is for novices/beginners/people having difficulties to seek advice from reputable sources, simple as that.

I love my DQ6!!..it's just my chip didn't do what i wanted it to do. Hell even my new chip may not be any better, but at least i gave it a shot.

I paid BIG money for the DQ6, €285...so i ain't gonna dump it for another brand, i owned five GB mobo's since the Granite Bay model.

im not about to sit here and do the research for everyone to prove a point. a point that anyone can find for themsleves by using google for 5 minutes.

almost all the higher end cards support a form of EAX and they definately support all the dolby you can shake a stick at. and they DEFINATELY have better components and output than the audigy cards.

listen im not saying the creative cards are crap, i have never said that but people who swear by the audigy have never even looked at other cards. they have only seen the crappy cards and crappy onboard sound and when you try a audigy 2 or XFi then yes they are a helluva card, but the fact remains, and undesputed truth that there are better cards out there. they are just not truly known but the majority of the community as they are not labelled a gaming card, they are labelled an audiophile card.
that card i linked to on newegg has got outstanding reviews. both on the hardware end and the software end.

not to mention the fact that most of you dont even own speakers that you could truly tell the difference in the cards as the response range of the speakers dont allow for it.

My X-Fi works perfect, in fact it worked PERFECT on my Gigabyte nForce4 Ultra mobo...when lots of folks reported problems. The issue with the DQ6 and others was introduced in a bios update, it's nothing to do with Creative or the drivers.

I got screwed Lestat....because i ordered from a UK website, as such Sterling, and Sterling to Euro...ooh man!

It's on sale for €225 at the moment, add to that the price on the UK website dropped like £12 Sterling FIVE days after i order the mobo.

!!!!!!!

This is the last I'll say. Look up the definition of "hardware" and "software", in reference to a sound card. Yes, even onboard sound supports eax, but only at the software level and only up to eax 2.

I'm still waiting for the phantom alternative card that offers hardware acclerated OpenAL and all flavors of EAX, 128 voices, and an equivalent 3DHeadphone mode. Software emulation isn't going to cut it. Sorry. My CPU has better things to do.

You say the b-Enspirer is better because of its sound quality and then you say we can't hear the sound quality differences anyway because of our speakers. Well, since the Enspirer can't accelerate all of the gaming effects the X-Fi can, I guess it's definitely eliminated then. If I want better sound quality with DD and DTS, I'll go to my livingroom.

thats wierd.

did you guys use the "clear dmi data" option ? try flashing again and use that see what happens.

i been having issues with cpu-z 1.37 it locks my system at higher overclocks.
i had to stop using it.
