Benchmarking OS help thread

thanks to the advice from nn_step,i finally got the os installed.the only problem i have had so far is that it wont install the drivers for the Via raid card.it will read the floppy when i use f6.but during the install it cannot copy the via files.so i have installed it on 1 raptor.hopefully someone might have some ideas about my raid card.i dont want to use the motherboard raid drivers as i have been told that they use cpu power.not a good thing when benching:nono:
will post more info as i put it through its paces - keep up the awesome work guys :toast:

Same thing happened with me trying the original beta. I couldnt install the drivers for raid. It kept saying cannot copy files.:stick:

so far i cant get it to run SLi!.am i doing something wrong or isnt it supported in this version?

winrar and winzip 8.1 installed and running with no probs :D
tried 3dmark01 just for the hell of it - no go :slap:
acrobat reader 5.0 works
and just for something to do i tried Mozilla Firefox. - it works :clap:

Okay so I know I will get computer parts, and any thing else moveable and heavy thrown at me, but I will ask anyway (glutton for punishment)

Sorry, i`m having trouble with installing onto a RAID as well... F6 reads files fine, but cant find them for the actual install.

Tried adding the XP/2003 drivers from the Floppy too..no better :(

I'll just confirm that I'm having the same problems with the nvraid drivers. Have tried the latest one's from dfi's site, xp, 2k, & 2k3. This has been issue since the first release. I think it is really the only problem left.

plus the problem of no SLi support

32 bit Windows 2003 Server Raid drivers...

Whos tried this, and what method? Has anyone found a way to get it to work from a floppy and F6? To try and build a RAID in Windows using the full drivers from the nVidia website would take AGES..would like to know if it would work first :p:

I`m using an SLI-DR.. the Sil chip doesnt support SATAII RAID AFAIK, so my only option is the nVidia chip.

i'm sure i've read that having an unattended disk prevents storage drivers being inserted using the f6 method :shrug:

have you tried using nlite and slipstreaming the raid drivers in? Then rebuild the iso image and burn. then you don't have to use F6 to install the drivers, they will already be there...

- Smooth install on single SATA drive (no raid)

Grab kbdda.dll from any XP/2003 source and drop it in system32 directory.

Then paste this in notepad and save as kbdda.reg:

XS OS is going into Closed box testing. So Most threads relating to it have been moved. Don't worry. :toast:

By closed box testing, do you mean a select few?

wish not, cuz this project is what interests me most nowadays, want to see it reach its perfection before the release of vista, and want to be part of it reaching this perfection

closed box means that the current alpha and beta users is still gonna test it but the news/info/bugs/report will be kept private to nn_step and those members so no one else can see it

It means only a group of Hand Selected members that I know. Will be Picked. Each will be given a unique login that will map to their Mac address.

this doesn't look very good for a normal member llike me without thousands of posts on this forum , hope the selection won't depends on something like that

i am praying that i will be on this list and i know my friend Demagh ( also from Egypt and who joined the forum only to join the testing of this project ) will be doing the same since we are very very interested in this project , that Demagh is still using the last version and testing it till today although we know that there was a newer and better version that we missed

can u tip us and say how can i be able to join this " Hand Selected" list

Lets just say every three Beta versions. we will release an Official. You guys then can kick the crap out of the OS with testing and Give us Lots and Lots of feedback. we then will hand it off to our Betas for refinement and then we will throw it back to the world to kick it around some more.

so this already measn that we are not on the " Hand Slected " list, honeslty i think this is not fair, but it is ur own project and effort so u can do whatever u want and refuse to take help from whatever u want

so this mean that starting from know we "normal" users will have to wait the release and testing of 3 beta versions before the fourth can be listed on the forum for everyone to d/l and test then after some feedback a new beta will be relased to the closed group before the final is out

as i said before i am not happy not being in teh closed group and i am sure many will feel the same specially since this problem form the start we weren't responable for it and we were follwoing the rules so to be punished for that is very sad, and i am saying punished cause u don't know how happy we were ( atleast me and My close friend Demagh ) with this project and the fact that we were a part of it

even Demagh was able to find 3 very rare adn weird errors that no one else even thought about trying them

anyway there is nothing we can do from now on expect waiting for the next public beta

sorry if i said anything u may think it is rude or something but u really don't know how much i am attached to this project
